Hyggelig restaurent som ligger lige ned til havnen i Ballen, Samso.<br> Maden er lavet med omhu og kreativitet af hovedsagligt danske og ikke mindst oens ravare.
Well prepared and Well taesting food, portion size could be a bit larger. Prizing okay but not cheap.
Service level and attention from the waiter not good enough , menu card came too late and he waited for us to order on the spot instead of giving us time with the menu card alone. Also not asking if we needed anything or asking if everything was okay....and at the end no eyes on us eventhough we waited for a long time to catch his eyes to pay...Based on this 3 Stars.

The Native Italian couple who run "Casa Tua" in Nordby on the charming Holiday island of Samso, have the most tasty ice-cream that I've ever had in Denmark; they make it themselves each night and it's simply sublime. We come from Ireland each year to visit family on Samsoe, and we go there for our daily ice-cream fix EVERY day, and if ice-cream could ever become addictive, this would the ONE ! To die for !!!

Welcome to the Ballen and one of Samsø's most visited restaurants with panoramic views of the Ballen Harbor. There is an outdoor service and the menu is filled with classic dishes such as fish, steaks and fried pork. Only high-quality food and local produce are used. Welcome to Dokken!
2 years ago I also reviewed Dokken restaurant... and it is still very good.
Tuesdays and wednesdays they still have good wholesome danish meals fried pork (stegt flæsk) or biksemad on the menu for very reasonable 89 kr.
The location is great - with great views - and the charming old fishing vessel in the restaurant.
The best thing is the service though. Always friendly, smiling (sometimes humming/singing) and as all waiters should be. I have been in many "fancy" places where the staff could learn a lot from here.
My girlfriend had a rubarb / sparkling water drink when we were there for dinner - and we forgot to ask where the rubarb was from. We came by the next day to ask - and he showed us the Rynkeby Rubarb lemonade bottle with a big smile and suggested where we could probably find it.

Sat outside on a beautiful day in July for dinner. Restaurant was busy with Danes and foreigners. Pizza was good but not excellent. House wine was decent. Service was fine. I would go there again as the atmosphere was nice, and the street is quiet. Good alternative to the Danish restaurants in town if you want something different. Another idea is to get a pizza here and then eat in the harbor which is very close by.

My family visits Samsø every year as we have a summer house near Nordby. Since I can remember we have always come to the Underground place for soft ice and other ice cream.
The staff is very nice and always up for a chat.
Take a stroll past the clock tower (If I recall correctly the Underground owner is responsible for ringing the bell) - and down to the small pond in one of the most cozy places in Denmark.

Had a nice lunch here on one of the sunny days of last summer. The seafood is excellent - especially the local flat kinds.
Location is special - with the restaurant being on in the actual harbor - with only a few meters to the water.

Delicious sandwiches and drinks. Service is magnificent! We had booked in advance, 30 people, no trouble housing all of us.

What makes "Strandlyst" so extremely sacred and special is - besides the truly special location, atmosphere and divine cuisine, that sufficiently secret feeling like you 've just come out of a fairy-tale forest and there in the mist , is a small fairy-tale castle , where Rasmus shortly will ask whether you want fish or meat in the evening , and what time he should fire up in the hottub, so you can lie in the hot water, with the love of your life, and look at stars in the cool autumn night . We had the most beautifull stay, and felt treated like a king and a queen, in our own little fairytale kingdom. Strandlyst gets our most sincere recommendations, but please only share it with people who truly understands good secrets ;-))
Lots of love (and beetroots)

We highly recommend this bakery for several reasons. It is much more than just a bakery. There are wonderful food plates, great beer selections and some wonderful products for sale. Yes, the bread is very good. But if you want a nice clean place to view the harbor and have a reasonably priced meal this is the place. The food plates (there are several) we had came with tasty olives, roasted peppers in oil, mustard pickles, roasted grilled onions in balsamic, pesto, meats and cheeses. Friday night is pizza night and they were exceptionally good and worth a special visit. Good wines also to consume by glass on premise or to take with you. We would recommend taking food and wine for a picnic on one of the harbor benches. Ballen can be over the too pricey. This
friendly place is a "port in the storm." Highly recommended. We will be back!
