We returned after over 20 years and 30 years previous visits. It is still charming and a premier dining room. We had a nice nostalgic visit. The menu and food is expensive as previously.
The dining room is elegant and service is pleasant and unpretensive.
It is a very limited menu and only a prix fixe 3 course menu is offered. There are 3 to four appetizers and main courses offered. We had octopus and venison carpaccio appetizers and we enjoyed prawns and lamb main courses. Both were served with the same vegetables. The lamb was served medium well instead of medium rare as ordered, but they offered to replace it.
At $95 per person one expected perfection.
Their informal bistro offers a more extensive ala. carte menu and I would choose that next time.
We had the dining room to ourselves for the first hour, which we enjoyed.

This is small jewel of a restaurant - one of the two best on the island. The food is innovative without being fussy. Great quality and superb presentation. The ambience is intimate and personal and the staff knowledgeable and helpful without being intrusive. Great for a special event or celebration. Extensive wine list.

Food, service, parking is very good. Servers are very friendly and on a first name basis with most customers. I visit at least once a week to start my day in a welcoming atmosphere.

A perfect example of a local place that is a bit out of the way, known well to the locals, and provides excellent food. It is near the Vesivus ferry terminal a few miles from Ganges. We had the fresh halibut fish and chips...best ever! Very fresh and lightly battered and the fries were just right. Great little patio for sunset viewing when weather allows. Other menu items looked good but don't miss the fresh halibut fish and chips when in season. Friendly service...highly recommended.

We are passionate about serving delicious, wholesome food prepared from scratch. Our cafe is located in the heritage cottage next to Mouat’s in the heart of Ganges village on beautiful Salt Spring Island. We are a one of a kind restaurant and music venue with live music under the stars every night of the summer featuring some of the best live music you will hear anywhere.
We went for Brunch with my adult children and our 16 month old grandson.
The service was excellent and friendly without being overwhelming.
I had a delicious Club House Sandwich that came with green salad on the side (Isn't there some law that all Club House Sandwiches MUST be served with French Fries?)
My only complaint, well more of an observation than a complaint, is that on a snowy Wednesday in February it was cold in the restaurant.
Can't be helped, I suppose, the place is built around a tree.

Open since 2004, Auntie Pesto's is a family owned & operated waterfront cafe that serves lunch and dinner year round. Depending on the seasons, we harvest much of the fresh produce on your plate from our own kitchen Gardens, but are also strongly committed to supporting many local and regional farmers, producers & artisans.
Although we have enjoyed a great many meals that got a "very good" rating from me, "excellent" is reserved for places like this. It is a lovely interior with interesting art and comfortable Seating. Because each of three had meals that we heartily praise, I imagine one could trust the rest of the menu as well. My ratatouille was deeply flavoured and delicious. I went with the add on of goat cheese. That topper helped the dish to perfection. My partner said the Crispy Eggplant is what eggplant parmigiana should be: thick, perfectly seasoned slices. Given the quality, it felt reasonably price to us.

A recently restored heritage propety in the centre of Ganges Village.Indoor and outdoor Seating for the restaurant with a charming 7 room hotel above. Quality dining at moderate prices, lounge atmosphere with fireplace is popular with locals and visitors.
We live on Salt Spring and don't often dine out on the island. We were glad we decided to this time. We decided on the inn as we had not been there for a while but it was recommended to us. Nice decor. very good food. great service. reasonable prices. We will go back again.

Global flavour and island comfort in an 180 degree ocean view dining room. We make everything from scratch and emphasize local ingredients. Our menu is varied with numerous options for carnivores, vegetarians, kids and gluten free diets. We also have a full service in house bakery, grab and go deli and espresso bar.
We went in there for a coffee. Didn't realize it was 2 separate businesses in one area. Got coffee and buns and went and sat down in the unbusy restaurant. Waitress came over and I said we were getting something at the counter. She was nice but informed me that if it got busy - we would have to give up our table. Who knew? We gulped down our coffee and food (neither was "great") and got out of there.

While I visit Barbs regularly for morning pastry treats and an espresso to take to work, last Saturday I seated myself in the restaurant. I ordered a Brekkie Bun plus bacon and coffee. Lovely start to my day, excellent eggs and cheese topped with bright tasty tomato on a fresh baked bun.
Service was fast and other staff came by to ensure my coffee was topped.
Rich tasting coffee and friendly smiles everywhere. I’ll be back.

Dont pass up an opportunity to visit Morningside. Here is why - This is not Starbucks.....This is something special, its an experience you will remember.
It's not just a cafe, a bakery or a bookstore. Yes, the food is amazing. Manon, a culinary master artist takes things to the next level. It's obvious to me that she doesn't do it for the money, but as a means of authentic self expression, sharing her love for culinary alchemy with those fortunate enough to find their way here.
The books in the store constitute a collection of some of the most conscious, and positive, thought provoking literature I have ever seen in one place.
While you're here make good use of the caffeine from that match latte to soak up some wisdom from these books or enjoy some wonderful conversation with like minded patrons.
enjoy!
