This is a place not to miss, since it has been taken over by the new owners it has made a great change to the food served. The food is excellent, Madame is in front of house and serves with a passion and Monsieur is in the Kitchen making great food.
Lunch time you have a choice of menus in the café side and in la sale you have a menu d'affaire
the prices are reasonable and quality is great, Just what the region needed.
Plenty of parking nearby so easy access. Would recommend making a reservation as it fills up quick
We will be going back more often

We went here because of all the hype on TripAdvisor.
This is your regular rock-looking bar/cafe (which is not a bad thing in itself), with tons of rock posters on the walls and rock music playing in the background.
The reservation process was very smooth: I called, I got the answering machine, which told me to text the number for a reservation. Which I did and got a confirmation immediately.
The service is a average for Switzerland and poor compared to the rest of the world. Which is typical for Switzerland. The waiter, while a very nice individual (methinks), was not necessarily the most welcoming of them all.
The choice is quite OK (including vegetarian stuff and the burger of the day), but you cannot customize them at all: I wanted a friend egg on top, it was not possible.
I totally forgot, and they didn't ask, how well too cook the meat. Therefore, I got a medium-to-well-done patty which I wasn't that happy with. But my fault, I guess.
The fries were sub par, quite dry and not that tasty (which I always expect of fries, given them being demonized worldwide and all).
Price wise: 60 CHF for two burgers (one small, 130 g, one big, 260 g) and two beers and tip.
We don't regret going there, but it wouldn't be our first choice for a come back visit.

Warm, friendly and attentive service, from the moment we walked in to the minute we left. The food was beautifully prepared and presented - a work of art - it was a pity we had to eat it! Very reasonable price - we would have happily paid 50% more ..
We would never have entered this restaurant without TripAdvisor, which is why we love it!

The place is beautiful and the view awesome, but otherwise it's not that special. The meals were ok but quit simple and expensive for what it was. I would not really recommend to go there unless you don't have time to go somewhere else.

Come and discover our simple, traditional cuisine, respecting its regional food culture, in an authentic Swiss and historical décor. Adjoining the Grand Hôtel, our Bistrot Restaurant welcomes sporty people, hikers and families for moments worth sharing!
its been closed for the last six months ,it's a shame it was a good restaurant, it was one of the last good restaurant with a varied menu, getting away from fondue ,steak and filet mignon, know it leaves you the grand hotel which is...MoreL'établissement est fermé depuis 2012. merci

I had the opportunity to visit this place well known for the "filet mignon" and I wasn't disappointed. The portion was very generous and delicious. I had a half croute with salad with my husband and all was fantastic. The service was excellent. The only thing to improve could be the decoration, the spaces and the style, the toilets could be renovated as well.

Travelling along the "Route de l'Absinthe" I stopped for lunch in the tiny village of La Côte aux Fées. Hôtel de la Poste is a traditional restaurant, located across the church.
My lunch was a rollercoaster - jumping from good to bad and back again.
Starting on a positive note the dining room is really cozy, nicely decorated and with much room between tables.
Re service the waitress was polite, though not overly friendly. Upon ordering I experienced an incredible dialogue:
[me] What is the difference between the "beef tartar" and the more expensive "beef tartar Du Chef"?
[waitress] I don't know, the Chef never told me.
[me] Would you be bothered to go and ask him?
While she enquired with the Chef, I could overhear him answering "Why on earth does he want to know?!" This behaviour is definitely a NO-GO!
The food is acceptable, but deserves a better presentation.
As starter I had the beef carpaccio. Good quality, but the slices were slightly too thick. Adding some extra old cheese was a very nice and tasty touch.
As main course I chose one of the house specialty: perch fillets meunière. The portion was truly gargantuesque - at least 350g of fish, perfectly pan-fried. However I missed a beautiful presentation: the perch fillets were piled up, with some boiled potatoes on the side. It looked like a dish you would get in a canteen rather than a restaurant.
As dessert I chose the apricot tart. It was clearly homemade and tasty; but once again, the presentation could be improved, as the tip of my tart piece was falling apart.
For Swiss standards the prices remain surprisingly moderate. Including wine and coffee the bill amounted to CHF78.

Went there for a family dinner and I must admit I was surprised by the quality of the food. It was certainly above what I would have expected in this small and lost village. The menu is short but diverse and all dishes were nicely presented well mastered, excellent products and the cooking quality was absolutely perfect ! Even the desserts were of quality. Add a smiling service and an obvious sense of welcome and you can easily forget the decor which remains a bit uninspired. So far so good, the problem though is the timing: 1 starter, 1 main, 1 dessert.... 3 and an half hours!!!! and this is arriving early among the first customers! OK we were in the middle of nowhere, a Friday night, nobody was in a hurry, nobody was asking for s super efficient, super fast service... but still, this is waaaaayyyy too long and I must admit it somehow spoiled the evening. Not sure if the problem was in the kitchen (probably) or with the waitresses (only 2 for a full house) but the result is the same. So.... be prepared. As far as I'm concerned I won't return despite the nice dinner. (almost serving 3 dots instead of 4 because of this)
