We finally managed to get a table on our third time of trying (the previous two nights were packed). We read so many great reviews so really wanted to come here.
We ordered the special platter between 4 of us, and a stein of beer each. Perfect for a night out. The platter was full of various food, the sea food was lovely and fresh, there was a nice mix of French and Catalonian dishes, overall this was one of the best meals I've had.

Like the majority of restaurants in St Cyprien (we've been regular visitors to St Cyprien for 30 years) the food is average at best....what sets this restaurant apart is the owner.
She is not what you would call customer facing....what happened to me recently I think is a classic example.
The owner was serving my wife who was sitting opposite me , when she put down the plate down she knocked over my wife's full glass of water which also hit mine too....the whole lot landed in my lap.
Ok it wasnt wine or anything that stained but my lap and leg was soaked....not a single word of apology from the owner....she said nothing to me or to my wife....walked back to the rear and came back with a couple of squares of paper towlling.
She then smiled almost sarcastically and said "N'est pas peur".....dont be frightened ?...what a bizarre and stupid thing to say.
No idea how people like that stay in the hospitality business to be honest.
WIll never go back

We had an absolutely gorgeous meal here. Our table was on the Terrace with a fantastic view of the ramparts, the Mountains and out to the coast. The food was great value and delicious. The service was attentive and they spoke English when our French...MoreWe thank you, it has been a real pleasure to serve you

Our restaurant l'Almandin, and our Chef Christophe Schmitt a has been honored with 1-star at the michelin guide in 2018
Beautiful restaurant, excellent service, le chef exceptional. We have adored the food and the wines. Expensive but worth the price in a region with lots of terrible, pretentious and really bad restaurants. Agnolotti a l'ognion de Toulouges etc., St Pierre or Rougets en main course, an excellent choice of cheeses served at the right temperature and a dessert of figues.

We went to the "L'Ancienne École" on a holiday. We were seated on a indoor backyard and it was a little bit too hot. Despite the crowd the service was excellent, the kitchen was quite slow but we were not in a rush. Good ingredients a beautifully cooked main courses. Quite a short wine list eventhought the one we chose was very good. It is not the first time and it will not be the last but next time we will book to be sitting inside the restaurant.

This is a review for the terrasse annexe to the Mas d'Huston called "Les Parasols" where I was served one of the most uneatable meals this year so far. The service, very mediocre and very slow, did not enhance the experience. We ordered magret de canard a la plancha. It came dry and tough, without any taste at all and for the first time in my life I left the accompanying coucous semolina, which I normally adore, because it was so dry and the the grains were so hard that I could hardly swallow them. The buffet des desserts was still not ready at 13h40 and when it became available was totally uninspiring. The price was still far too expensive for the quality-or lack of- of the meal

We selected this restaurant based on previous reviews. We were disappointed that the restaurant didn't live up to expectations.
The good - the ambiance was fine, the waiters were friendly and helpful, and the service was in general good.
The food was the let down - we chose to eat from one of the fixed menus. The carpaccio of salmon was more like smoked salmon, complete with black bits. The lamb cutlets were extremely fatty with little meat, and the fries with both our meals were very mediocre.
The quality vs price was poor in our opinion. We feel like we fell for the tourist trap.

We sought out this restaurant whilst in St CYPRIEN last week after Reading it's reviews. Although it looked a little down market. The staff were very friendly, the service excellent and the food superb. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food. We opted for the chefs special of 2 @ meal for 2 but the owner suggested we could try one of everything (21 dishes in total) What a fantastic dish. All 4 of us enjoyed the meal and the price was very reasonable.
My one piece of advice would be not to rest your elbows on the black rubberised table coverings as they leave marks.
A big thank you to all the staff who made this a great meal and to Trip Advisor for enabling us to find this place which is out of the way and some distance from the normal Harbour area restaurants.
