The Latvian capital, the largest city in the Baltics, is a fascinating mixture of proud Latvian tradition and influences of the various countries that have occupied it. Independent once again since 1991, Riga's Art Nouveau center has won it UNESCO World Heritage Site designation. Opened up to mass tourism with the advent of budget air travel, Riga's Old City and its abundance of bars and restaurants can be explored on foot. The New Town is easily reached by an efficient and modern bus and tram network.

Since restaurant Vincents was founded in 1994, it has grown to become one of the premier gourmet establishments in Eastern Europe. Its reputation has spread far beyond Latvia's borders, with Prince Charles, Elton John, the Emperor of Japan and Heston Bluhmenthal among a very long list of prominent personalities and famous gourmands who have savoured the restaurant's haute cuisine.
I was lucky enough to enjoy a dinner in Vincents with my local business partner.
4 people, 3-5 courses each + different wines by glass
Highlits were: sea snails, scallops with caviar and wagyu tartar
Nice touch: the antigrill, citrus-apple sorbet made at the table on a liquid nitrogen, served on a stick as lollypop.
We really appreciated fairly wide selecion of decent to great "open" wines. DEFINITELY great if you have more courses, and the guests have very different dishes.
I mean, unless there is option of suggested wine pairing already in the menu, to have wider non-accidential selection of by-the-glass is proper (especially in such a high level restaurant).
And btw we had fun eating the decoration (chips) on the table ;-)

The Neiburgs Restaurant, housed in a historical Art Nouveau building, is popular among visitors and locals who love a good dinner out. Its success is based on the combination of historical and stylish elements in the restaurant’s décor and delicious menu. The interior features lots of light and lightness; the fare is a fusion of contemporary trends and tradition for a reasonable price; the mood is set by background music soft enough not to make listening to your table-mate a hard task. The restaurant is famous for its hearty business lunch menus and excellent steaks, burgers and soups.
Everyone raves about Neiburgs and rightly so. For a really fair price the meal is outstanding, with friendly staff, and a great wine list. The decor is perfectly eclectic and the food is top notch: try the duck, the venison, the soups, the herring... The list goes on!

One of the oldest restaurants in Riga, Petergailis is a place for all who seek some peace and quiet in the busy Old Town. The restaurant has been open since 1978 and still serves classic Petergailis dishes as well as contemporary kitchen with new vibes for gourmet lovers. There is also a summer Terrace with a nice view of the church tower and Skarnu street.
We had a very good dinner with four different main courses and all to great satisfaction. The waitress was very helpful and recommended a wonderful wine which went very well with the food. It was absolutely a warm welcoming atmosphere and we would gladly recommend it.

Folkklubs ALA Pagrabs - Traditional Latvian Folk Club with the largest selection (27 beers!) Of only local beer on tap, modern-traditional cusine and live music and Concerts 6 nights a week, as well as folk dancing on wednesdays. Traditional and local atmosphere and culture! Peldu iela 19, Old Town Riga, Latvija, LV-1050
Wonderfully atmospheric bar/club/restaurant. Definitely the place to be in Riga and the only bar in the old town which was still busy on a Sunday night. They have excellent local bands playing, plenty of variety of great beer and really good, cheap food. Loses one mark because it is pretty much impossible to get a seat at night without a reservation and you can't make a reservation on the same day! At least that is what we were told, other reviews here would suggest otherwise.
Don't miss this place. Despite being really big inside, it has a really small frontage and no sound escapes to the street so we pretty much walked straight past it on our first night without noticing it was there!

Visiting this very good restaurant. Amazing menu with so many exiting dishes. It was very difficult to decide. Extra plus for their knowledge about glutenfree food. Thanks for that. Even bygger plus was then rich wine menu, so many options. Everything to very good prices and an excellent service. Thank you for a very nice evening with. Go and visit this restaurant.

International menu, mini dishes, freedom of choice, original design and service philosophy create new culture of public catering. The chef's inspiration is the best traditions of European and Asian cuisine with new, modern techniques.Contemporary minimalism combined with great lightening system creates an incredibly a great ambiance.
Pretty good restaurant. Pleasant and polite staff. Unfortunately there is no free parking and live music. The food is quite tasty, I liked seafood pasta and fillet of wild dorada. Also in the restaurant a large selection of other dishes.

Fantastic berry salad, with tons of berries, avocado, nuts and brie cheese. A delicious and healthy meal all in itself. The mushroom fettuccini was also very tasty, with lots of mushrooms and a very rich sauce. Service was excellent, while décor and ambiance were nice. Small dining room, prefect for couples or business lunch, but not for a large group. Great value for the money, my only regret was not trying this remarkable restaurant earlier during my long stay in Riga!

I was several times in this restaurant but only for a drink (alone or with colleagues) but will go for a dinner the next time. This restaurant offers a good and wide selection of classic drinks, but also drinks made with balzam.

Excellent beer. It's 30 minutes walk from the city centre, located in a somewhat run-down neighbourhood that seems to be revitalized by this and other lively places. Brewing the beer on premises, the bar is contemporary decorated, with at least 12 beers on tap and several bottles. No food, only a few snacks, but there is a burger joint just around corner (and small supermarket). Closed early, at 2200.

You will welcome being off the beaten path in midtown Riga (Zaubes Street) at this fine dining establishment whose specialty is mouth-watering steak, including Filet Mignon. A charming patio open during the summer season. Simple warm-toned decor and friendly staff await you inside.
Visited on recommendation. You certainly wouldn't happen upon this place, hidden away! Food was excellent and service too, very friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere in the place and warm !! Highly recommended... will certainly go back ! Excellent value for money !!
