This is a modern and clean cafe/restaurant. You can find variety of organic and original foods to buy or eat. They have healthy options for breakfast and brunch. They have also delicious cakes for calory lovers:)) However, the food served at the restaurant have more customer friendly prices than those at the shelves to sell.

THE FOOD: recommendable. Even me as a local I loved it! Had the "Tischlerei soup" which is a mix of many Austrian soups - very good. As a main I can recommend the Bull ("Schulterscherzel") - it was a very soft meat (cooked for 48hrs). As a desert we had the flower pot which reminded me of Pana Cotta.
THE SERVICE: very friendly and attentive. Waitresses serve in the typical Austrian dress ("Dirndl").
THE VENUE: very pretty. They managed to incorporate modern interior design into the Austrian wooden style.

We visited this mountain restaurant whilst walking at Rittisberg, but it is just as easily accessible in the winter if you are cross country skiing. Friendly family run service, with the son occasionally entertaining with the accordion between serving and clearing tables. Good food at reasonable prices. There looks to be good quality and value accommodation available in adjacent buildings. All in all a fabulous Austrian mountain hut and worth a visit. Don't expect to drive here, though there is a dirt road available for the special occasions that they offer.

First day in Schladming, didn't know where to go, on the street saw the restaurant and went in cause it was almost full. The dishes were good, the prices were fair, and staff was nice.

The Rittis'stadl is a great Hut. It is located at the top of the Rittisberg in Ramsau am Dachstein. It is possible to drive up there but that is not the point. As the destination at the end of a beautiful walk up the mountain it is just excellent. Rittis'stadl is apparently open throughout the year so does not close even in the challenging winter in The Ramsau.
Rittis'stadl is located next to the top of the chair lift for those soft enough to get the lift up. It has its own children's playground for those youngsters with enough energy after the walk.
The food at Rittis'stadl is traditional Austrian done so right. The portion size is excellent. The taste is terrific. Austrian food is maligned in part because it is stodgy and designed for the Alps. It makes a lot of sense at the family-friendly altitude at the top of the Rittisberg.
Rittis'stadl is acceptably touristy. It is easy enough for the casual wanderer to understand. English is possible but without German a conversation here is not going to happen.
Being an Austrian location there are smokers but on the pavillion the smoke is not too noticeable.
Service at Rittis'stadl is the best this visitor has experienced anywhere in Austria. The fastest and most efficient around. Compared to the horrible service for instance in Vienna, Rittis'stadl is incredible. Of course it helps that the recruitment policy seems to have drawn in staff who look as good as the stunning mountain views towards the Dachstein range. Price seems reasonable. Value is definitely stronger here than in some of the other Hut options in the neighbourhood.
Huts are a traditional Alpine experience. The one at the top of the Rittisberg is an outstanding example of everything right about that experience.

Ochsenalm is a Hut on the Rittisberg. It is the most westerly of the summer Huts on Rittisberg. The most direct way to Ochsenam is from the P2 car park. P2 is a small car park without that many visitors. It leads to a section of the Rittisbergrundweg. Ochsenalm is part of that rundweg so has its highest appeal for those going the long way round the mountain.
Unlike nearby Rittis'stadl, Ochsenalm is not as far away as the signposts suggest. The route is not especially steep or difficult so can be done even by those pushing a kinderwagen and fully loaded without much difficulty.
The route however is not amazingly beautiful. It is largely enclosed by the tall thin mountain evergreens so abundant in the region. There are some ok views but nothing spectacular. The route also dips to get to Ochsenalm itself which means needing to go a little bit uphill after partaking of the Hut.
One of the best things about Ochsenalm is its children's play area. It is well designed for kids. There are also a few animals including Guinea pigs, goats, and pigs. The view from Ochsenalm itself is the best of the route up though not breathtaking.
Ochsenalm looks great though. It is a wooden Hut that looks like it could be an original. The outdoor Seating is plentiful. There is a small indoor section. Ochsenalm is surprisingly popular at peak times. The atmosphere is good, bolstered by the local radio station playing traditional tunes.
However, the food is not great. It is really nowhere near as tasty as other offerings in the area. It is rare for this traveller not to be able to get through a meal but the more traditional cooking methods here do not equal delicious. Ochsenalm is rustic, it has a good ambience, it looks the part. Unfortunately the food is smokey without the freshness a great rural meal should offer. Even local favourite the apple strudel was a bit grim.
Value is not amazing as the portions are much smaller than nearby offerings without proportionate reduction in price.
When walking round the Rittisberg there is greatness but Ochsenalm isn't that greatness.

Brandalm is a Hut on the Dachstein. It is part of the series of Alms in the area and a good example of local eating and drinking. It is open in both summer and winter seasons. The location is stunning. It is on a bend on the path towards the Dachstein Gletscherbahn. The bend affords a great view into the valley below. In the summer it is a fabulous spot though the occasional gusts of wind can be a bit much for some of the sun canopies.
Brandalm is a couple of buildings. One of them is something of an homage to the history of the Alms offering a fairly detailed description in German of the tradition involved. There is also a little children's play area.
The hut itself is a nice enough wooden construction. It is not a beautiful bullding but it works. The internal area is clearly designed for the cold winter and has its own quirks downstairs.
The food is ok. The most popular dish in the middle of the day in the summer was definitely Kaiserschmarr'n with apple sauce. It is not the best Kaiserschmarr'n. There are a range of other traditional Austrian dishes available.
Huts are amazing places at the end of a long walk. Brandalm is not the end of the walk but is on the route. It is a really nice spot and has some good history around it but there are other nicer huts in the region.
