Casa Cosmana Navarra is a traditional Maltese. Is a 17th-century townhouse in the suburb of Mdina, building belonged to Cosmana Navarra (1600-1687), who was the main benefactress of the rebuilding of the Rabat parish church of St. Paul. The house is found in front of the parish church opposite the The Wignacourt Museum. It has a vernacular facade, that includes a closed timber balcony and two neoclassic columns. In the inside it features some baroque architecture including the coat-of-arms of the family, the decorative archways from a room to the other, the former courtyard and upstairs they are several spacious rooms inside.
Having eaten out quite a bit on Malta our experience of customer service has been a bit patchy to say the least. However at this restaurant it was a pleasure to be served by polite thoughtful staff who were genuinely enthusiastic about their food. We both had pasta dishes and they were excellent. Recommended!

Situated in the charming village of Rabat, opposite St Paul's Church, The Grotto Tavern Restaurant boasts a typical Maltese house of character, which has been transformed into a lovely restaurant retaining original Maltese features and an interconnecting cellar featuring a 2000 year old cave. This was nearly a disaster, but for the tremendous calm professionalism of our waiter. We should never have found this restaurant but for the persuasions of a man in the square outside who had been employed for his charming manner and his persuasive Reading of...MoreDear DHW 2015, We are glad that the matter was resolved and we appreciate the positive feedback. When I told my Maltese friends I was planning to spend a few hours in Mdina they advised me to go and try the chocolate cake at Fontanella or any of their sweets (meringues, etc). So once in Mdina I went there. I had a slice of the chocolate cake, it was very nice and a vanilla flavoured cappucino. Sadly I didn't know the cappuccino was already very sweet, I added plenty of sugar without tasting it first and it came out as something sooo sweet I didn't manage to drink it all. I am not one to waste food or drinks but that was too much. One advice: if you get any drink taste it first before adding anything. It's a pity because it seemed very nice.
The top floor of the Tea Room has a lovely view on the sea. I was told I could see Sicily from there (or from the Belvedere nearby) but even if the sky was clear I didn't manage to see it. If in Mdina it is a very nice idea to stop there for some refreshment and the lovely views.

It's a bit difficult to know where to start as everything was perfect. We were in Malta visiting friends and went to L'Agape on the last night as a group of 4. There is no menu as such - they change the dishes daily so it is a voyage of discovery in some respects! The food was exquisite and plentiful. They offered to do a mix of starters based on that day's menu which was tuna, squid stew, Sicilian sausage stew and bread. The mains we had were tuna steaks, ribeye steaks, beef kebabs and veal escalope - all cooked to perfection. We passed on dessert given the amount of food we tucked away on the first 2 courses. Book early as they are very popular.

I read about this place in Lonely planet so thought I would give it a try. Its very local and they clearly havent changed things up for the tourist trade. When you enter this tiny cafe it feels like a different world. Pastizzi fresh from the oven. We order 1 cheese and 1 pea and wow they were lovely. So cheap too.
Maybe a tad oily but overall the best I had in Malta - yum!

I came to Il Baxa with my boyfriend on the way back from St Paul's Catacombs.
We were surprised not only by the generous portions but the quality of food - fresh and delicious.
Definitely worth coming back.
€6,70 for traditional flat bread with lots of filling accompanied by the salad.
As it is in Malta- difficult to pay by card, but the owner allowed us to do it.
Also you can buy in this place pieces produced by a local designer Stephanie Borg instead of buying them on a website. Price is the same as on a website.

Il-Veduta is all about great quality, freshly prepared pizzas, pastas and risottos served in stylish, contemporary surroundings.
Upon arrival, our table was covered in little flies. Food took a long while to be served.
Not really a place I would go again.
Food -
I ordered a well done burger, which came with fries and some salad. Burger was of good size, and the fries was very delicious! Though I had a lot of flies swarming around so I didn't really enjoy my food or my experience here.
There are tables inside which would have been the better option. The view was nice but I would sacrifice the view for a fly free zone.
I wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless you dine inside and take a look at the view while you wait for your food to come. - The food does take a long time so you'll have a good amount of time to enjoy the view.
Came with the Game of Thrones tour (please see other review).

Rising Sun Blues Bar is a chillax bar for cool people and music lovers. We play classic rock and blues music all day and night. We serve lunch Monday to Saturday.
I have been to The Rising Sun 5 or 6 times and because it is small, it has a Cosy but vibrant atmosphere. They are only open in the day for lunch, drinks and coffee but you can catch them on Friday and Saturday evening too. They play a fantastic selection of rock music from the bar! They serve great platters, pastas, burgers and ftira rolls that are great size portions. Definitely not to be missed or walked past !!

This is more of a little coffee shop / deli. It sells alcohol as well as cakes and sells packaged food to take away. I wanted to tell everyone to visit here, as it's lovely and we made friends with the ownsers

Bottegin Palazzo Xara is a friendly casual local Band Club in a mixed business, local neighborhood members and non-members . On the inside, the relaxed Club atmosphere has 3 large cozy rooms, a full size snooker table, free wifi and artistic decorations. We had not booked here, but were found a table and had a very nice dinner. Service was friendly and efficient, food good and portions more than adequate. We don't often eat dessert, but the date fried pastries with amaretto on the side were fantastic....MoreMany Thanks for your review.
