If you think Tamarind Springs is a trek to get to try this branch at the gorgeously rustic Japamala, Tioman Island, only accessible by boat :) The Thai fusion food here is very good and supremely fresh. This is what island cooking should taste like!

Very tasty Thai and Vietnamese food, served from quite a large menu by caring and friendly staff. Restaurant setting is superb, peaceful and chic.

Stayed at Mokhtar's Place chalets beside this restaurant and tried this restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It has a really nice menu from the local cuisine to burgers to shakes. Friendly and helpful staff, nice design and great views.

Tioman Cabana ( The Cabana Village) run of small bed & breakfast facilities, Acoomodation and Beach Bistro served great food and Watersport Center. Our menu in our Bistro has a variation of choice from local or western appetizer,If talking about Home Made Burger everybody knows of course in beverage option we served fresh tropical juices and Fresh Coffee. In day time we provided different type of activities from boating, tour and landsport activities. To be here same feel you are the islanders with great music, awesome view of sunset, located on the beach and nice islanders design of woods house. You also welcome to do book exchange, bring your musical instrument to jam with the crew or use our free wifi on the hammock.
Visited here because of reviews. We arrived here and enquired were they still open and the reply was can you take off your shoes. I have been to a lot of restaurants on the island and respect the culture but no other one asked us to do this. This was a young guy who seemed to be saying I am the boss. There was not even an hello . They were open and we duly obliged. We were given menus. There is not a huge variety of mains on the menu. I enquired could we order the guy was sitting next to us and replied you go to the counter which was next to to him. I went and made my order to him. The food arrived . It was passable compared to other nearby restaurants definitely not on the same par. Certainly for the type of food we were eating at half the price in local restaurants which are also on tripadvisor. We had brought a few beers with us and had drank them I think 4 cans. We paid our bill and the young guy asked us to put the cans in a bin which was right beside our table no problem. Which was also beside him. First of all the service is bad here with staff that I think are trying to impress mid 20's with there coolness. It is not working guys. Went to most restaurants on the island three times . Did not and would not return . Attitude not reflective of attitude of other places on island.

Have visited here many times during my stay in tioman. Many locals come here which must be a good sign. Food good quality and cheap. Staff really
friendly. No alcohol served but can buy a few doors away for byo. Have to say very enjoyable any night.

- Overpriced (drinks was 10rm per packet)
- Fish was not fresh, packed bbq stingray and was smelly. We did not even bother walking back to restaurant to have it changed.
- Waiting time is horrible, waited 30mins for mee goreng, bbq sting ray and drinks.
Just do not eat here. Overpriced and not worth it.

Was recommended this place by a local chef that works at paya beach. So on the evening that we arrived at berjaya tioman, we decided to eat out(side) at this restaurant, located near the resort gates.
Ordered lobster noodles, vegetable (kale) and hor fun. They were all good. We were told that the seafood was the daily catch of the local fishermen, freshness guaranteed. We decided that we'll eat there again the next day.
We got a little more adventurous and ordered more dishes to try- fried rice, kangkong (vegetable), a whole steamed snapper properly deboned, beef. We were treated to a sweet sour chicken dish with compliment from the chef.
The owner of the restaurant (ah wah) used to work as a chef at fatty weng, a Singaporean restaurant. He's since relocated to Malaysia and decided to try his entrepreneurial hand at running his own restaurant. He's really friendly and down to earth. It's great that he'd handpicked several chefs who met his standards.
This is a place I'd recommend if you're looking for a no- frills restaurant. Al fresco dining, friendly service, affordable fare, and delicious food, all within a short taxi ride from the ferry terminal. Even better if you're staying at berjaya resort.

Their main business seem to be barbeque seafood.
Have tried their cooked dishes only.
Ox-tail soup was delicious but the ox-tail meat was a wee bit too hard. Would would been nicer if simmered for another 45 minutes.
Mixed vegetable fried was nice. So was the egg steak. ie. Fried egg with pieces of beef covered with a tomato based sauce.

The best breakfast in Juara with an extensive menu for all meals. The staff are friendly, helpful and have really good English, they are happy to help arrange any sightseeing and day trips you might want to enjoy. While they don't serve alcohol they are happy for you to take your own, which they sell a wide range of in the duty free shop in Tekek.

We really enjoyed the food there. Especially the rice paprit. Good value for the money. Only the fresh juices were not really good, too much water and not enough fruit.
