Francesca and her team provide wonderful food, prepared fresh from local ingredients in the traditional Calabrian style. My wife and I are counting the days until we return to enjoy La Rondinella, the food, the people and the ambiance - all is perfect. We love finding something new whenever we visit - which is several times a week when in Scalea!

"Gli antichi sapori di una volta rivisitati dalle nostre sapienti mani, serviti a tavola rispettando qualità e prezzo"
This is by far THE most authentic northern Calabrian restaurant in the area. I would consider even driving one hour to get there and get a great meal. First of all, the appetizers (antipasti) summarize the whole Calabrian gastronomic experience: the ricotta cheese is warm and home made; all sorts of cold cuts, freshly made tomato meatballs and altomontese eggplants vinegar-preserved. Pasta is hand-made. Period. The selection of meat and, when available, local mushrooms, are adding to the thoroughness of restaurant selection. My advice is to let the chef decide for you and you won't be disappointed. 5 Stars to Zio Pierino!

Wanting to eat lunch as we drove into Morano Calabro, Italy we saw the signs for this fine eatery. We were so glad we did as we had a delicious light lunch.. Most items had fresh fish in them so if you are not interested in eating fish you might not find much to choose from on the menu!

Hostaria de Mendoza is located in Rende picturesque old town.
Thr atmosphere is familiar, in all aspects, since the restaurant is managed by a nice lady and his son.
The menu is typically local, especially for "country" cuisine: mushrooms, capocollo, caciocavallo cheese and, best of all, black truffle of Calabria. Taste the black truffle in Tagliatelle all'Occhio, together with egg and cream: superb !
Wine list is very good, especially for local strong reds.

The heart of Braceria are the two wood-fired ovens where the meat cooks on a spit just inebriating scents of the coals and their enveloping warmth. Cuisine you find in all its authenticity. In fact, you can follow the meat of your choice featured throughout its preparation, from the oven to your table. The house wine, fresh from the barrel, it will join all the pleasures that our flesh can offer.
I confess to not having eaten here on previous trips because I (cue: hang head with shame) assumed Italian beef wouldn't be as good as good british. I was very, very wrong. Not a particularly smart place, but service was cheerful and the beef was amazing....Definitely returning later this year.

My husband and I had dinner in the Biafora Restaurant this week and it was one of the best restaurant meals we have ever had. We eat out frequently in Italy. The food was of Michelin quality at very reasonable prices. The cuisine was successfully innovative using local produce. The service was outstanding. Overall, first rate. We have already booked our next meal there.

The restaurant is handled by agrichef with thirty years of experience in the sector. The kitchen is typical but with some revisions. The chef cures the product very much, cultivating themselves all. The restaurant is located in open countryside with small farm and a large private very quiet garden, ideal for those who love nature and looking for relaxation and good simple but genuine cuisine. There are many activities in the surroundings. Ideal for families with children and pets.
On our drive from Scilla to Amalfi we took a detour through the countryside and ran into this wonderful Agriturismo through Tripadvisor. We called an hour ahead and although we were the only guests (low season) they prepared a wonderful four course menu (antipasta, primi, secondi and dolce) for us. The restaurant uses local products, of which some they grow themselves (o.a. red aubergine and DOP certified white beans), and they make their own pasta. We had 10 different antipasti, Wild Boar fettucini, Ravioloi with spinach and ricotto, grilled pork and a beautiful honeycake covered in chocolate. If we ever pass Rotonda again we will certainly stop again.

Altomonte is a fantastic small town in the middle of nowhere and this osteria is really the gem of it. Good dishes in a nice small restaurant.
