i stumbled across this restaurant in Gela after looking around for half an hour and finding zero.
I was welcomed by the chef and owner, they were both lovely.
I ordered the mixed antipasti which was excellent and very interesting in flavours and well executed.
I wish l could have had more to eat but l had a booking that night for a rather large dinner elsewhere.
I would highly recommend eating here.

The people at our accommodation Relais Feudi Piscotti recommended this restaurant in the nearby town of Nisei. Apart from stocking their wines they were about to start a restaurant at the winery run by the chef at Cibus.
The daily menu was run through verbally (in Italian with a smidgen of English). There was a good selection of foods so no problems getting something that suited our tastes.
We both enjoyed our dishes, but were a bit disappointed that we weren't that hungry hone we arrived as we would have enjoyed trying more dishes.
Good service, good food.

The Trattoria San Giovanni is a small restaurant located in the historic center of Gela near the central square. We offer a simple kitchen and tied to the Sicilian tradition, we range from an extensive list of appetizers such as caponata, cold cuts and cheeses, eggplant, zucchini and stuffed peppers, artichokes and roasted mushrooms, various omelettes, with dried tomatoes to oranges, buns salads and lard, sweet and sour meatballs and potato dumplings. The first most popular dishes with pistachio cream, sauce or gravy. With the latter we range from meat before grilling choice salt and pepper, sausage, pins and cost of pork, lamb kebabs and special cuts seasoned with sauce or special sauces. Our range changes according to the season and in the summer we also offer a made from exclusively fresh catch seafood menu. For any particular allergies or vegetarian cuisine, we are available, by reservation, to prepare a special menu. Please contact us for any clarification. Enjoy your meal!
Ate lunch here. They don't have a menu, you just sit there and enjoy what they bring. In our case they brought plates over plates with yummy local dishes which we all ate. After we were done, the waiter was disappointed that we were not hungry anymore, because this was only the starter. Lol. The food was breat and very tasteful. Definitely worth a visit. Very charming and nice waiter.

This restaurant distinguishes itself from most other restaurants for offering real authentic home cooking. Very rarely found in these days of standardisation. Some idiot in one of the reviews reprimanded them for not offering ,,real restaurant food''. Beastly ignorance...
Delicate flavours, unusual ingredients (how often do you get to eat cooked zucchini leaves, or caper leaves?) Super fresh fish, delicious house- white wine ,freshly baked Sicilian bread etc. Lovely service, taking all the time in the world, the time one should take to eat a meal. Not just a pit-stop ,crammed in between activities to stuff your belly.
Nice ambiance.
Very reasonable prices.

During our week in Mazzarino we had dinner at Cantina di Bacco four times. The restaurant is not very big but very cosy. The menu changes daily. The chef tells you what is on today's menu. Every time we had the antipasti and a pasta dish. The antipasti has consisted of ten to fifteen different small dishes. The pasta dishes has mainly consisted of vegetables for instance spaghetti with fennel and black olives or penne with zuchini and almonds in a cream sauce. Every thing has been very delicious and the ratio between price and quality is very good. The service is excelent. We highly recommend this small restaurant.

Lovely restaurant off of Piazza Garibaldi, they don't speak English, but we were able to understand and communicate with our limited Italian. Antipasto of a calamari salad with potatoes, herbs and mint; dinner was a huge tuna steak, absolutely delicious, and I had one huge round mushroom ravioli which stated fabulous. All the food was excellent. We ordered a bottle of wine, which was Sidilian and very good, then finished with limoncello. The restaurant had a nice ambience, but it was empty except for two other customers. It was not tourist season, It was pricey, but worth it. Excellent food and service.

The Restaurant is tucked away in a small courtyard. The interior of the restaurant is very basic at best, the cooking is a different story.
That is just brilliant.
My friend knew about this place and brought me here. From A to Z it was an experience.
If you like meat, this is the place to go. All organic and prepared just a bit diffirently then what you are used to.
Quantities are well balanced so your are not overloaded.
The owner is super friendly and he is passionate about his profession.

After an evening enjoying one of the huge range of delicious and substantial - great oblong discs of the softest dough baked to just the right level of crispness, smothered in your chosen toppings - anchovies, mozerrella, crushed garlic, mushrooms, parmesan, proscuitto, speck, spinach, wild fennel, tomatoes - the list is really only limited by imagination- you will never - i promise you look at a Pizza Hut in the same way again.
Enjoy a wonderful evening in delightful surroundings - with plenty of a robust house wine to wash down the last slices of gastronomic delight. Near the Redemptore - you need your car to get here - so someone needs to be on Aqua Frizante! Plenty of parking - no need to book out of high season but always gets busy after 9.00pm

Really good and cheap pizzas, fast service, reasonable prices of beer, nice staff... Great place. It's not that hard to find if you have the exact address (no. 15). Will return if I'll have a chance.

This is a restaurant experience in the heart of Sicily which should not be missed. Occasionally would repay reserving a place, as it can get busy at certain points in the year because the cuisine is really exceptionally good. Great quality ingredients, their freshness and local authenticity leaps out onto your taste buds - the visual and the gastronomic presentation is quite delightful. Sicilian cuisine at its heart is honest, full of flavour, and with this fusion into visually delightful, you really will have a spectacular experience for a wonderful dinner out.
