Le Cesario

Despite being very busy (understandably), the service was rapid, very friendly and even in English if I needed it. Food was good portions at good prices, no rip off here despite waterfront position. The seafood was fresh and the pizzas well covered and huge. Thoroughly recommend.

Restaurant Le Lamparo

Located on a very quiet, sunny, warm day on the Promenade. Met by the friendly owner who visited each table and shook hands with every diner, obviously at least a dozen who appeared to be regulars at this multi unit foreshore. As we have found with every part of South East France (Pyrenees Orientales) every body is very friendly. Being on the seafront the obvious choice was seafood that was served in a very professional manner and attractively plated. The menu was comprehensive with two set menus of €23 & €35 with a further comprehensive a la carte menu. We selected the a la carte that, with drinks came to €75 that we thought to be good value taking into consideration the location, friendliness , hospitality and good service.

La Perla

Wonderful menu - French cuisine served in the rustic setting on the beach. The dining highlight of a stay in Le Barcares is at La Pearla. Great fish and meat dishes. Cocktail bar, candle lit in a Cuban style setting. Open in high season to end Sept. Tel 06 87 12 23 70- no website mentioned on their business card. Sur la plage, a la frontiere de la Cataloge Nord et de la France. Sortie 15, Cap de Front near Aqualand. Nearest city is Perpignan

Our family goes to Lidia Playa every year for the past 18 years (ma femme est du coin). While the food's not spectacular, the restaurant's ambiance, especially when they have live music, makes it my favorite. The Tapas seafood plates (garlic shrimp, calimari) and patas and legumes plates are all very affordable. Wine is 18 Euro a bottle. We go in the evenings and have never needed a reservation, average meal for 4 was 60-80 Euros including wine.
The location is marked incorrectly on the TripAdvisor map, it's on the Mediterranean side. I think it relocated (doesn't show up on Google satellite map, but has been there for a couple of years at least).

The friendliness of staff is something to remember! It is not difficult to find good crepes in France but it is unfortunately more difficult to meet such friendly people speaking good English and ready to help. Nice experience to remember.

And the second time round it was even better.
Right on the beach.
Hidden away but easily accessed.
Really fresh seafood and perfectly cooked.
We ate tuna, prawns, octopus, cod and hake.
All wonderful generous servings.
Friendly chilled out service.
We spent a whole day just lounging and grazing and watering. It was magic.

Tutti Frutti

Reviewed By Magicwoods - Roxbury, Connecticut

This review is specifically for hungry people who want a large bowl of mussels with a side of hot crispy fries. There are several styles to choose from. We had the Catalan and the Mediterranee. Try them! Our friendly waiter brought out steaming bowls of muscles drenched with savory broth, roasted peppers, olives, onions, and celery. We started in and didn't stop until every last one was scoured for meat and every last drop of broth was smeared and soaked with broth and popped int our mouths. The frites or fries added just the right salty crunchiness on the side. The dish was fresh, plentiful, and addictive. Go get some!

Having owned an apartment in Port Leucate for several years, my partner and I really wish to highlight this restaurant.
Firstly the service is excellent. Us being English posed no problem at all. Management and very agreeable staff conversed with us in our own tongue! Although we do our best with what French we can muster.
Food and drink choices were exemplary, very well cooked and presented.Very fresh produce seems to be the key here. This is not one of our frequently used restaurants, but it certainly will be from now on!
If your in Port Leucate give it a try. I know you will be extremely impressed! 5 Stars *****

Le Mas Bleu

Tasting of oysters, mussels, clams, sea urchins. Sale of fish from morning fishing (according to arrival)

Reviewed By Walter J - Queensland, Australia

We had been told about this place but words cannot describe it sufficiently. There are at least 20 restaurants all selling Seafood with Oysters and Muscles their specialty.
We chose Le Mas Bleu and was not disappointed. We had a huge serving of large oysters and muscles. We were surprised that the muscles were served raw, but it being a first we tried them and my wife even said she enjoyed them more than the oysters.
The raw nature of this place is amazing, little restaurants out front of the Oyster Farmers sheds. You can eat there or buy all you want to take home. Cheap is the word especially to take away. We paid 2 Euro for a kilos of muscles. If you love seafood and especially if you love OYSTERS don't miss this sensational place.

We were 6 adults and one 3 year old.
The family were extremely welcoming and warm.
They gave as much attention to our granddaughter as the adults.
We all had the lunchtime fixed menu, which was really enjoyable, and terrific value.
We will be back,to enjoy the pleasant atmosphere and enjoyable food.

Le Regal

Reviewed By Eli D - Aubonne, Switzerland

Before Reading the rest of this review. Take note. The restaurant is at the address given (place du Tertre), which is not where it is shown on the map. If you need to search for "restaurant du tertre" - "Le Régal" is just behind and above it. We were on a 1600km journey from Southern Spain to Switzerland, so we couldn't spend time soaking up the holiday atmosphere. We were there on Easter Monday and it was busy, but not excessively so. In summer the place fills up - the population of the town increases 20 times from about 5000 the rest of the year to 100,000. I imagine some of the positive reviews have been made by people who are less discerning than others may be. Still, this restaurant deserves recognition because the young owners go out of their way to accommodate and they serve good quality food, with a creative nod / "clin d'oeil" to a more gastronomic class of cuisine. Price was okay for the set menu. We will definitely return to "Le Régal"
