We are a simple, friendly, family run budget-style guesthouse with only eight twin or double bed rooms. One room of three single beds. No dormitories. We have our own restaurant offering both Thai and Western food. Our public bar is popular with travelers and locals alike, well stocked with extremely cold beer and specialty cocktails. We help with the full range of travel advice and ticketing. The English owner has lived locally and on the Islands for nearly fifteen years so is very well connected with many dive shops and resorts on all Islands, particularly Koh Tao where he still spends a lot of time to keep information up to date.
We arrived in the evening after a major downpour & the staff seemed indifferent to our arrival!
I had minced beef & onion pie & chips & mixed vegetables; all 3 were straight out of freezer packets. Tasted like it too!
My girlfriend had spicy Penang curry - it was ok; we also had chicken steaks which were average.
Highlight of the evening was when a cockroach, the size of a mouse, fell out of the roof onto my arm & narrowly missed falling in my dinner!!

We stayed next door to this place and found the staff and owner very helpful. The owner is quite the entrepreneur and runs a taxi service, tour service, as well as the restaurant. We ate dinner here one night and found the food very authentic...MoreThank you so much. For recommendations welcome back again FON

This place came highly recommended by friends. It's simple and up a back street, but famous locally for it's home cooking and friendly welcome. The menu is only in Thai with a couple of groups of six dishes, each recommended by a Thai reviewer. We chose our own six dishes, all things we were unfamiliar with. All interesting and all delicious. If you can't read Thai, I would go for one of the groups of dishes, or just order at random. If you are a foodie, you won't be disappointed. Owners/staff very friendly. I'm sure they would advise well also.

Seems like they now extended their land to the beach side, with a separate bar. Great for parties, weddings, etc. I tried some of their pasta.... Different style but good enough. They use the microwave more than i would want them to, but they do prepare a lot of their own stuff to order.
So stick to the things that they have to make fresh and things like hamburger buns avoid (unless you can convince them to use the toaster oven to defrost)
Like all restaurants on the beach, you know which ones to go to to get the taste you want.

We often went to Anna's Place during our stay in Saphli. Anna's Pad Thai is not a big restaurant, but it offers typical Thai food and nice homelike atmosphere.
We enjoyed several time Pad Thais (vegetarian, chicken, squid), fried rice and spring rolls. It is possible to ask the most things for vegetarian. Anna will try to fulfill your desire.
The portions are big and it is really cheap. It is possible to take away all of the dishes and to order in advance.

A friendly beach side bar and restaurant serving Indian,Thai and western style food. With stunning views over the beach and nearby Islands
The location is nice by the beach road. Thai, English and Indian food on the menu. The food is ok. Not a mindblowing experience, but nice food at a low price. Very friendly staff, that know a little English. Have a game of pool after dinner? Try it. Would I come back. Yes I would.

I have passed through this beach many times on motorbike rides south from Bangkok and normally spend the evening at this beach. I normally go to this bar due to the location, music, the Lao beer and the above average western food (tonight, pizza and some type of cheese and ham spring rolls). Although nothing out of the ordinary, I always enjoyed my visits. Hence I was surprised this evening to be "ripped off" on my change. Both the guy I was with and myself thought I handed the bar staff 2,000 Baht for the bill of around 1,100 Baht. However, he claimed it was only 1,500 Baht. So I lost 500 Baht, Maliblues lose a repeat customer, and I write this review on Tripadvisor to spread the news. Thanks for the previous good times Maliblues, but this leaves a bad taste and I won't be coming back. Plenty of other options on this beach which presumably don't indulge in this type of behaviour.

As we are living at Thung Wualean beach for a year, there are occassion when you want a break from Thai food and an opportunity to get your teeth into a good steak or pork chop.
Sabai, Sabai is our chosen venue.
It offers a wide choice of Eueropean food as well as Thai and is set right on the beach.
They offer some set meals at competitive prices.
The owner and his staff are very friendly and speak English, French and Thai.

Four of our group had a chance to stay for a night at a lovely B&B at Thung Wua Laen Beach.
The staff at the place we stay were so sincere by telling us that they had a tour group that might cause us some delay if we insisted to have dinner at their restaurant.
She also recommended us the place while we asked if we could have a lovely dinner that night.
The name "K-Had Thai restaurant" came out.
K-Had Restaurant is very close to the place we stay, just went across the road and walk for 1-2 minutes. Actually it is not a so formal place that we could call it a restaurant, it is a place by the beach which you can sit back, have your dinner and feel the sea breeze at the same time.
They made lovely fried dried squid with garlic. Also their sea-bass were very fresh.
The beer were well chilled and I would love to recommend this place if you visit Thung Wua Laen Beach at Chumphon.
(In Thai - we pronounce Chumphon as "Chum-porn". I think they are just try to avoid some language breaking.)
P.S. Next time I visit Thung Wua Laen, I will try to have dinner at the place we stayed last time.
