We spent some time in the Mountains near Chamoson and found this little gem by coincident. Ms. Madam (apparently the owner) greeted us promptly and lead us in the cozy dining room. The hole restaurant has a rustic, charming style to it and is very well decorated. Ms. Madam (i feel terrible for not getting her name) made us feel welcome, explained about the winesw in the region and the local food choices. She told us about the Chef, his french heritage and his passion for foiu gras. Since this delicacy was just banned in California we found this to be a nice treat.
The only downside was that my daughter couldn't order the cheese fondue which it is only served in the more casual tavern-room because of the smell.
The wines in Chamoson are OK but a bit light for our taste. We like heavy Italian and California wines and the we found the Wallis region wines much lighter and not as intense.
To summarize: The restaurant's decor is very tasteful and charming. The menu choices are excellent and regional oriented. The food is prepared freshly and is very, very flavorful. The service is OUTSTANDING. The price is about the same as one would expect to pay in the US, but a little high for Europe.

We had a tremendous, traditional Swiss meal, and an extremely enjoyable evening from start to finish.
I liked the triple choice starter, which was a little adventurous, but made sure there was something for everybody.
I loved the triple meat main, which was cooked and served to perfection. OK, so it was a bit difficult to differentiate the meats, because the seasoning was pretty strong, but the quality of the cooking and the flavours in the accompanying dishes were quite excellent.
The triple choice dessert was a great way to finish - enough quantity and enough variation, finishing the meal with a delightful symmetry.
Service was outstanding.
Don’t miss this off your itinerary!

I was looking forward to have lunch in this little and charming restaurant that produces most of vegetables served for its patrons. However, at the end of the day, I found the whole experience disappointing: food was average, very small portions, service chaotic and very slow (there was only one lady serving in the whole restaurant even though we were a group of 16 people that had booked a month in advance) and the bill expensive for what was served (I had tomato salad with cheese as starter, a quinoa risotto with hidden asparagus and veggies, one strawberry coated with chocolate and a spoon of strawberry mouse as desert. I had 1dl of white wine: 50 Swiss francs... May be if you go in a smaller group, the experience will be different.

We ate lunch there straight after having a wonderful time in the baths. The food was served very promptly, maybe because 5 out of 9 orders on our table were from the 'Menu du jour', and another 3 were from children's menu. The food was excellent and everyone commented on how tasty it was.
However, after everyone had finished, it took 3 attempts at catching our waiter's eye and 35 minutes before our empty plates were cleared. It then took another 25 minutes to get our Deserts (nothing fancy, just ice creams!) and then another 20 minutes or so after that for coffees and the bill.
We wanted it to be a leisurely lunch, but we felt completely abandonned by the staff and furthermore aggravated by the uncomfortably high heat in the room.

This is a very special restaurant and is off the beaten track, but easy to reach in the Mountains...Remember don't drink then drive.....:)

The food dished up here is tasty, well-portioned and presented with style. The kitchen is spotless. Local wines are served and the service is cheerful and helpful. Our waiter spoke some English.
Everything about the food, wine and service was tip-top. The only negative comment is about the atmosphere, which does not support the delicious food well, with its simple light wood furniture and hard chairs with lime green cushions. This was not a problem for lunch, however may be too informal for some for an eleganta dinner, which is a shame as the food is easily suitable for a nice occasion.
We ordered the tartine forestière, an entrecote de boeuf, 4 glasses of house local wine, and two coffees. All were excellent. The bill came to CHF 85.20, which is very pricey, but sadly not particularly so for Switzerland.
I recommend this restaurant.

In the heart of the Valais wine growing region, very tastefully decorated bistro. We were warmly welcomed despite 2 small children and chose to eat in the more relaxed bar area. Staff and owner were extremely friendly....great wine advice and choice. Beef tartare was excellent (seasoned to taste) and kids menu high quality and much appreciated by parents and little ones alike (soup, real chicken nuggets, veg! and ice cream). I hope to return (for a relaxing meal without the children!!) to try the tasting menu which looked very good (and reasonably priced for Switzerland starting at 65chf.) They also have a nice looking bed and breakfast.

This restaurant is famous not just for its situation and the views accross the Valais central, but for its excellent grilled meat, and one of the starters, snails cooked in a special mustard cream sauce.
The access road is a narrow steep mountain road, with many hair pin bends, but despite that the Restaurant is usually busy.
Remember to reserve in advance during the autumn saison de chasse (game season).
The wine list has many good local wines, but the vin du Patron (Fendant) is recommended on good quality and value for money.
The service is efficient and friendly.
A visit to this restaurant is a memorable occasion, but dont forget to check the weather forecast before tackling the approach road and also to ensure you can enjoy the view.
