My daughter and I had a pizza and Tiramisu for desert. The pizza 's were great. The tiramisu looked like it came from a machine, tube-like. Not so great. The staff were very friendly. They communicate mainly in Italian with eachother, adding to the Italian atmosphere.

We were attended to "De Watergeus" by salmon-smokers Rien and Ingrid Heemskerk. They supply Watergeus with their products, and the menu indeed featured, as one of the dishes, three preparations of Bawykov salmon. We had a 4-course dinner that offered a lot of variation. Service was attentive, as you may expect of this class of restaurants. The restaurant has a great view over the tranquil "Nieuwkoopse Plassen" lake. We also stayed over for the night; the rooms were fairly simple in 70s style, but appropriate. After all, you come for the food. Next day, the breakfast (which you pay extra) was very good, and allowed us to enjoy the view on lake again. An illustration of the hospitality that "De Watergeus" offered was that my wife liked the small pillows that were provided in the bedrooms - on our depart, the staff happily provided us one for free.

We have visited this restaurant multiple times and are always extremely pleased by the exceptional friendly service, the frequently changing meny and the excellent food. Real value for money.
The service is exceptionally keen to answer any requests. In the past we have enjoyed everything from an evening long dinner with friends to an intimate dinner for two. The last visit, we had a quick dinner in the outdoor Seating area just beside the river (Oude Rijn). It was great!

Barista is a nice looking coffee bar/ lunch restaurant with some +'s and some downsides.. Plusses are the great coffee's and the homemade cookies, the look and atmosphere are welcoming and friendly, and the fact that its about the only nice spot in the 'ground zero-like' state of the surroundings on this side of Alphen at the moment. Half of the old city center was taken down intentionally, the rest of it has become inaccessible due to the two large cranes that fell on buildings a couple of weeks ago.
Downsides: The lunch menu is ok, but only 1 option for vegetarians, and the Sandwich toppings are just about enough. Toilets are not too clean and the wifi is not steady. It gives the impression that the place need a little more care and attention than it's currently getting.

I had several times dinner here, as well business wise as private, and my company and I were never disappointed. The advise is to make reservation two days before, because it is nearly always full. Price-quality is acceptable, price rating is higher than average. Service is very good, tables are a bit too close to eachother from my point of view. Verry good choice in wines and a good menu. The location is on the border of the Oude Rijn (Old Rhine) next to one of the (bike riders and pedestrians only) Bridges of Alphen aan den Rijn. Worth to visit.

The location looks a bit dated, although that might be expected in a former school. It has a bit of a "living room" feel. We came here for dinner on a very busy evening and had the impression that the staff couldn't really handle it. The food was good though.

My husband I picked this restaurant as we are visiting Amsterdam and hubby felt like schnitzel and they had this on the menu I had homemade tomato soup. The soup was the best homemade soup I have had in a very long time from any restaurant around the world. Hubby had a very large serving of schnitzel it was tasty but a little tough. You will not leave here hungry. The food is delivered very quickly and with a smile. I would recommend to all when in Amsterdam.

In winter everyone can enjoy eating by the concept: shared dining, in dutch we say: (H)eerlijk delen. In summer this is the best place to enjoy the Nieuwkoopse plassen, watersport, sun, dining, relaxing and so may more!
Not only the location is perfect (right at the waterside of the "Nieuwkoopse Plassen"), but also you can have there a good dinner, lunch or just something to drink.
When the weather is co-operating your dinner here is the perfect end of a nice day in the surrounding area. This area is an official nature-area of Natuurmonumenten: "Nieuwkoopseplassen", where you can also make a boattrip on the water.

The big pork skewer in peanut sauce (sate) was delicious! Huge portions and friendly service all around. Tasty red wine, too. Not at all expensive and well worth the money.

Enjoyed a lovely meal with adults and children. Service was friendly and in good English but a little slow. Soups - bouillabaisse was very good, tomato rich and too sweet, asparagus was bland. Fish and meat courses were excellent, though sides were only ok. Fries were great. Kids burger included bacon and some sauce which one kid loved, others less - beware if you have picky eaters.
All in all, very good option in the area.
