Orange Restaurant opened its doors in the Summer of 2007. Situated in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga approximately 60km from the Kruger National Park, it boasts with the most magnificent views of the Lowveld escarpment.Imagine yourself surrounded by sophisticated decor, white linen and over-sized napkins enjoying fine-dining cuisine prepared by passionate and experienced chefs. This ideal restaurant is also the perfect venue for weddings, conferences, and other special occasions & events.
Food was great, service was terrible. Having been a patron for years and coming back when we are in the lowveld, it’s sad to see this once exemplary restaurant lower its standards to this extent. Service was exceptionally slow, from the beginning until the end of the evening. Our group even had to get up to get a wine list from the bar in lieu of being offered wine by our waittress. This trend continued throughout the evening.

The food is good, however the website leads one to believe they will enjoy a romantic evening, unfortunately this was not our experience. The tables were set up for 6 and we were stuck between two other couples which seemed like some bizarre social experiment. Unfortunately we had to rush our meal in order to get out of a rather awkward set up. It was a real shame as we had the most romantic experience at the spa.

We went here for breakfast one day and beers another day. Great menu and staff were friendly. Breakfast was good, and they had an incentive menu, but could benefit from some seasoning.

MAGNOLIA RESTAURANT & CAFE A Breath of Fresh Air on the White River and South African Culinary Scene Situated opposite the Casterbridge Hollow Boutique Hotel, Magnolia Restaurant & Cafe is a breath of fresh air on the White River and South African culinary scene. Inspired by rural French charm, it offers a sophisticated yet relaxed taste of the best the region has to offer. Unique in the diversity its multi-dimensional interior provides, it is simultaneously a romantic, intimate experience with inspirational views over the surrounding landscape; a relaxed outdoor venue set in gorgeously manicured Gardens, or an upmarket business venue – perfect for large parties or small, informal get-togethers, vibrant cocktail parties, family gatherings or special occasions. The split-level interior and upstairs veranda create an interior with indoor-outdoor flow, a welcome breeze on hot summer’s days and delightful visual interest. The main restaurant is situated upstairs with a mezzanine level, which, with fantastic natural light, makes it ideally suited to private functions. Magnolia’s indulgent menu, created by leading chefs, is inspired by the use of fresh local ingredients – so whatever is in season makes it onto the menu. Meals are accompanied by a superb selection of South African wines, and rounded off with the most decadent desserts. The unique decor is a treat in itself... rustic, yet elegant – with a European twist. The quirky unexpected accents (most of which were made locally) and attention to detail create a pleasing and layered scene to be peeled away and explored bit by bit.
Magnolia Restaurant provided excellence on all levels. The canapes were beautifully presented, easy to eat, and absolutely delicious. The service by the waiters was professional and efficient, going beyond the call of duty.
Thank you Magnolia, you added such sophistication to our event, and I will definitely be using you for our upcoming events.

Dinner with friend at the start of our holiday. Beautiful intimate restaurant, very good service and amazing food. Our table had the snail starters, stuffed trout and a mutton curry. Beautifully presented and delicious. Very impressed with the wine list. Wines from the Overberg made us feel so at home. Wonderful meeting Steve and him joining us at our table with a bottle of Grappa. What a way to start our holiday. A must when in Dullstroom.

Lovely decor and great staff but the food was so good!! We understood Orange restaurant to be he best in the area but compared to this place it was for sure the better place.
We ordered the tapas options (you could also have them as a man in course) and they were all excellent. The mushrooms were so good we ordered three portions!!!
