Moyogalpa (Spanish pronunciation: [moʝoˈɣalpa]) is a municipality in the Rivas department of Nicaragua. Moyogalpa is the largest village and the home of the largest of the three ferry ports on Ometepe Island. There are multiple hotels, hostels, and restaurants on the island, along with small shops called "Pulperias" selling a variety of items from snacks to basic clothing. In 2016, Walmart opened a Pali Supermarket in Moyogalpa to serve the 40,000+ island population, including many expats and the thousands of visiting tourists. Since opening Pali, many of the small pulperias have improved their own meat, produce and items for sale displays, adding many items not offered by Pali.

If you want to meet other backpackers from all over the world this the place to go. You can bet yhat you get the same food & drinks as in L.A., London, Montreal or Zurich - and at the same price.
The management makes a very clear statement that locals are not welcome - the prices are shown in USD on the menu.
If you want to pay in local currency a table calculator is used to calculate thr second digit of the price!
I wonder why you should order a simple batido en agua priced 2 USD (ice content 70 %) if you get the same drink around the corner for 20 Cordoba.
I also wonder why some people want to visit Ometepe only to order iced capuccino.

This restaurant, located just off the main road of town, appears to be a family run pizza store serving up basic but very tasty pizzas & beer. They have a deck out front to sit and eat, and played a bunch of awesome 80/90s video clips when we were there.
Check it out!

The service was terrible! A group of seven of us went there for dinner. The food was average. The server was super rude! Perhaps if we had a different server it wouldn't have been such a negative experience, but he was horrible to us! When it was time to pay he wanted everyone to have exact. He gave us an attitude for asking for the check. Then he took one person's money at a time. Then he skipped over one of the girls at the table. When it was my turn to pay, my total was 65 cordobas, but I had a hundred. I had five Cordoba coins and asked him if it would be easier for him to give me 40 in change. He took the five coins, but then gave me ten coins in change... He was super rude. I've lived in Central America for three and a half years. It is not normal for people to be so rude here! I will never go back to that restaurant and I recommend others to avoid it. There are plenty of other places with better prices, food and service.

My husband and I visited as we were in need of supper and Internet. We had the bruschetta with cheese as an appetizer, it was more like tomatoe on toast with melted cheese on top. For an entre I had the vegetarian pasta (penne) and it was pretty good considering this is Nicaragua and on the island, it could have used a little more umph! My husband had a beef dish which he enjoyed very much.

We welcome you to Isla de Ometepe's Restaurante El Indio Viejo! went here for breakfast and i got the french toast. it smelled delicious but had no taste. went here several times for the smoothies - big portion and tasteful. what i didn't like about this place was that they automatically add 10% tip to the bill even when the service was mediocre at best.

Jazz Monkey FL&B offers a wide arrange of drinks and foods in a relaxing jazz-filled atmosphere. We open in the morning and close late at night, so if you feel like starting your day with steaming hot coffee, we are the option you need - espressos, lattes, mocha drinks, and our signature drinks would satisfy those cravings of yours, or instead, after a long day of adventure on the island, come over, have drink, and listen to some relaxing bossa nova before you crash for the day. Don't leave the island without checking the place out; chances are you might come to one of our cool jazz live bossa nights.
We had lunch at this newly opened restaurant in Moyogalpa. The owner was very kind and helpful. We had panini's, which were very tasteful, and a cold Oreo-Mocha coffee, wow, so good!
If you're in Ometepe definitely go here for a good lunch, it's not the cheapest option in town, but you will definitely enjoy!

I had just returned from a grueling hike to the summit of the Concepcion Volcano and I was starving. One of the members of our group had had dinner there the night before, so I decided to give Mar Dulce a shot.
Service is friendly and with a smile, both in Spanish and English.
Went for the filet mignon beef skewer with vegetables, rice, fries, and rice, for onle 250C$. Portions are huge, so for that mount it can only be considered a steal! The food was absolutely delicious and I made short work of my dinner. Washed it down with a beer and then had a smoothie for dessert. All in all, for only 320C$, which is only a little over 11$!
I checked the plates of the other customers and they were pretty big as well. Mar Dulce just might be the best value in town!
You can definitely find cheaper, true. But not better, not at this price range.
Thinking of going back tonight!

We had a larger breakfast and weren't too hungry. We had rented bikes in Moyogalpa and were looking for something to grab our attention on our ride to Charco Verde. We saw their sign that mentioned homemade yogurt and for whatever reason, decided that appealed to us and rode that way. We rolled into a very cute beachside dwelling with picnic tables. We both ordered the fruit/granola/yogurt, though they were actually out of the yogurt. That didn't matter one bit to us. We were served large dinner plates FULL of cut up fresh fruit sprinkled with granola. Talk about hitting the spot! Pineapple, papaya, starfruit, watermelon, cantaloupe, & banana, and plenty of it. The granola itself was quite tasty. We were SO happy we chose this place to eat!

Appealing restaurants looked in quite short supply down the main street in Moyogolpa. We chose Buon Appetito, it had nice music playing inside the restaurant, with an attractive interior which provided quite a nice ambiance. We chose two pasta dishes, cheese ravioli and pasta with mushrooms and tomato, both were very good, beer was cold and the service polite. There are a couple of tables outside by the road but we opted to eat inside. They also accept credit cards.
