I spent 3 days in Mompox with my sisters and we went here every day! We tried the whole menu and it was nothing but delicious, from the pizza's to the pasta's to the 'wienerschnitzel'. Apart from that it must be one of the most...MoreIt was a delight to have you and it is accordingly to read your kind review. Thanks so much for your your wishes. I hope you will come again. All the best, Walter

We actually stayed at Casa Amarilla, but wish we had stayed here after the stopping in for lunch day we were so enchanted by the generous hospitality shown to us although we weren't staying there.
After having lunch, there was no question that we were going anywhere else for dinner. We had BEST food in Mompos (if you're looking not to eat street food for a change). An elderly couple built it, the wife trains locals to cook. The husband greeted us at dinner one night - a lovely lovely elder gentle man. He ended up staying and talking with us at the table most of the night, at our insistence (he didn't want to intrude). If you're looking for wine (often a rarity in many places in Colombia, and I'm a wino) go here. He has stocked his cellar with estate wines from Argentina and Chile, and we bought 2 bottles to take with us. We also had a LOT of problems with VanCity ATM cards and Visa at the ATMs throughout ALL of Colombia (Visa did work in stores/restaurants etc.). We were running low on cash, and we told him about our problems and he gave us cash against our VISA. A generous hospitable class act.

We walk ~1km along the river Promenade each evening from La Casa Amarilla. The after dinner exercise helps to justify la Villa's ice cream, and sometimes a dessert crepe. We would love to try their meals but sadly they are not open for lunch.

Here we had our best meals in Mompos. We enjoyed it so much partly because of the river view from the tables outside and partly due to tasty, homemade food served for a penny. Meals were proudly named "la cocina momposina". We tried river tortoise stew and we tasted fish called la mojarra. Good, local food experience with great river view in a quaint, isolated city.

8pm on a quiet off-season weeknight found us starving for an open restaurant to no avail. Apparently the few recommended eateries, el Forte / Casa Real / Ambrosia, could not justify opening their doors. Lucky us, Julieth & Majdi, Mompoxina owner & newly transplanted Tunisian husband were in full swing. Following an extended overseas stay in Tunis, they recently regained the management of the neglected restaurant to whip it into shape. Julieth vacuum packs most of the perishable foodstuff she needs & ships it in special containers directly from Bogota, a 16-hour drive, where she runs another of her restaurants. "It's next to impossible to get high quality ingredients locally, and much less Middle Eastern condiments, olive oil & spices," she says. Boasting a constant riverbank breeze, Khalilieh serves up reasonably priced freshly prepared chicken & beef shawarma, kibbeh, kafta, falafel, hommos, tabouleh, stuffed grape leaves, combos, as well as a variety of grilled meats & veggie burgers. In addition to beer & wine, they offer homemade cocktails & natural juices. Not to miss is Julieth's creation, fresh lemonade with mint leaves & orange blossom water (azahar or mazaher as its called in Lebanon). We visited for dinner & lunch back-to-back; and had them deliver a second dinner at 9pm on the eve of our departure, which we enjoyed in the private dipping-pool of our room at the Portal de la Marquesa Boutique Hotel. All in all, remarkable considering the remoteness and often-scarce resources in Bolivar's historic colonial Santa Cruz de Mompox, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Comida Italiana a la carta, ambiente familiar.
Small restaurant with about 10 tables on a nice square with lots of nightly activities. We had dinner here. The kitchen handled by two ladies is in the open and the menu is small, which is always a good sign.
Service was friendly, but a bit disorganized. Two in our group had finished their meals already when number three was still waiting. That was the only negative. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. We had dinner the night before in La Fuerte and although that place is hyped on Tripadvisor, we liked Nonna much better.

In Plaza de la Libertad in front of the statue of Simon Bolivar, this is a good place for lunch or dinner. Open and cool it is divided into several different areas - and when I was there for lunch it was tranquill and relaxed.
Menu has a range of meat, fish, rice and pasta dishes, cazuela and patacones. Main dishes range from around 20 000 - 30 000 COP and potacones are 10 000- 12 000 COP. A Club Columbia beer is 4 000 COP so a bit more than average for Mompos - but still far from expensive of course! Interestingly, the price of beer isn't on the menu
I had the cazuela con camarones (shrimp) for 25 000 COP and all I can say is wow! Generous portion, delicious creamy coconut sauce, lots of prawns and coconut rice and patacones on the side - absolutely delicious!!
