Went for lunch during the week. Restaurant a quarter full.
Ordered a glass of wine which was splashed on the table - unnoticed by our waitress. The wines, both reds, were served very warm. Disappointing for a winery as reds at this temperature don’t show at their best.
We ordered the duck and an Aged Rib Eye steak. My wife enjoyed the duck but the steak was dreadful. It was served swimming in a butter sauce which was competing with another green sauce - it didn’t look appealing. The steak was fatty with a lot of gristle. I told the serving staff I regretted my choice and they indicated that it was a very fatty cut. It was an expensive lunch which, on this occasion, simply wasn’t worth it.

I've been coming to Toshi's for 20 years and it has never disappointed. Every meal has been a leisurely experience of beautiful Japanese cuisine where the only surprises are good ones. Specials are always worth considering (the oysters are particularly good at the moment) but don't leave without trying the house gyoza - yummmmm! We could happily eat a whole platter of these and nothing else. The deluxe sushi platter is just beautiful to look at as well as eat and the flying-fish roe is an especially nice touch. Service is always outstanding and we elect to sit in the Japanese room as a matter of course, because it's so much more comfortable than the "western" style restaurant. Toshi's movable floor has been impressing me for years and it remains the only Japanese restaurant I've seen with this method of Seating. If you are visiting the Highlands and looking for somewhere to have a special meal, don't go past Toshi's - they won't disappoint and you will want to come back before too long.

Vin Santo was operated by Andrew and Pam McCrone for eighteen years - first at the Bowral Hotel and then from 2000 to 2010 at its premises in Mittagong. Under new management the business closed in 2013 and remained so for almost a year. The McCrone family has now returned. The food is the same sensational style regulars will remember from the good old days! Dine-in, take-away and fully licensed, Vin Santo is superb quality dining at affordable prices.
After Reading so many positive reviews, we were very disappointed to experience a meal that was significantly less authentic Italian than we had hoped for. The much lauded garlic pizza did not have any discernible garlic flavor and the carafe of "House Wine" seemed watered down. I couldn't even figure out what variety of grapes this wine was made from - no flavor at all. The "Italian Style Mushrooms" were under seasoned and the mushrooms themselves were raw - not inedible, but they would have been much tastier if they had been sautéed first before the breading & frying process. My "special" spaghetti dish was well seasoned, so that was a plus, but the pasta itself was undercooked, not "al dente", but dry and chewy - a splash of olive oil would have softened the mouth feel of the pasta, but it really needed two more minutes in boiling water. The Tortellini Boscaiola was the only dish out of four dishes that we enjoyed - well cooked pasta, plenty of sauce and well seasoned. I really wanted to try the Baked Ricotta Cheese Cake, but couldn't bear to be disappointed again, so we went home and had some dark chocolate and a glass of good red wine for dessert!

Local Italian Restaurant, family owned and operated, serving delicious, hearty and honest food & wine.
Onesta never dissapoints and delivers a fine, yet relaxed dining experience. There is always a friendly welcome, the decor is a combination of modern and traditional with a cosy atmosphere due to the subdued colour palette. The food is Italian with a modern twist. One gripe is having to pay extra for sides, as the mains are small without something extra. There is a comprehensive wine list with by the glass available. A great destination for a romantic evening, family dinner, or gathering of friends.

This used to be our go to restaurant on our way from Sydney to Canberra. Under the previous owners there was a certain pizzazz (no pun intended :) of course) but sadly under the current owner (or is it just the chef), this is lacking. A pity really. Location is good and it had/has a good feel.

Finally we have visited R&W for lunch and we were very impressed. The space is very attractive in a modern casual and slightly warehouse feel. The menu is extensive and focused on wholesome food beautifully presented and generous in size. Consider sharing!! There are a lot of vegetarian options which appeal even to devoted carnivores. Coffee was excellent and there are some appealing sweeter treats which don't come with too much guilt. Our only disappointment was the service. We were politely informed there might be a wait from the kitchen however there was a wait for everything. If the kitchen is busy then assuring your clients have a drink is pretty basic. Then after we had cleaned our plates of all the food we waited and waited for them to be cleared and to be asked if we would like a coffee. The staff were friendly however could do well to serve clients rather that chatting!!! Sorry but that's what happened.

The Swordfish is a large eat in Cafe that can seat around 15 people inside and about 30 in the outside Courtyard. ...Rear entrance and parking. OPEN 9.00AM to 10.00PM (7 DAYS ..Including Public Holidays)
We stumbled upon this cafe as we drove through Mittagong.
The cafe is very clean...and has a great choice of foods on display and all look fresh and appealing. There were three staff working there and we were swerved promptly.
We both ordered a burger, beet root and chips and decided to eat in. The cafe has tables and chairs inside and a courtyard out the back.
The burger looked great but tasted bland, the patty had little flavor. I heard the young man say they use rice bran oil I their fryer...obviously better for us but taste is very different.
After Reading prior reviews and responses from the owner, I'm somewhat reluctant to criticise any part of the meal, cafe or service.
I have given this meal a three which I don't consider to be a bad score. The burger and chips in MY opinion were just that. This is a forum where people should be able to voice an opinion and yes the owner has the right to reply but please don't be over sensitive. Your shop is great!
I noticed there was a toilet out the back near the courtyard and the staff were more than happy for me to use it...which was great....it was clean. Thank you!
Next time I'm passing through I hope to stop by again to try the salads that looked amazing.
