Visited with friends for a night function. The place is just by the road side with adequate parking space. The large landscaped garden enliven the atmosphere. The restaurent hall is not very big. There is also a traditional "village style" enclosure to have a leisurely drink and a meal. The food and service is ok.

Happened to take my family for a junk food dinner. Burgher hut seemed to be the nearest place to dine. My kid loves french fries. When ordered they served fries that served on a previous occasion, looked soggy. I asked for fresh fries. The dumb fools refried and brought the same fries again. We were apppauled ans left the diner.

The walk around the spice garden is OK, expect for a rather pushy guide who wants to tell you that his spices and herbs can cure most of mankind ills. Not very convincing.
It all ends up with you in a shop and a group of men pushing you to buy over-exepsive items that can be bought elsewhere (including in the UK) at a fraction of the cost. The bottles, when you unwrap the cellophane are of the cheapest variety and leak (beware in your luggage).
This is a place that is on my list never to go to again. Rest of Sri Lanka is lovely - this lot should be ashamed of the damage they are doing to the good name of a beautiful country.

This humble restaurant exceeded all of our expectations. Simple plastic tablecloths with a view over a rough beach did not prepare us for the amazing seafood platter that arrived. We thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it to those who want to indulge in yummy seafood in a simple and authentic setting.

Went to Amanda rest Kaudupella, Matale (between Nalanda and Matale on A9) for dinner on 24 August with my 2 children and two friends from New Zealand. (one is my cousins son) on the way back from Minneriya park. Ordered 3 Koththus and a chicken fried rice. The price for a chicken Koththu was Rs 270 for me and the exact same one for my cousin's son (who looks foreign as his mother is a Kiwi) was Rs 550 while an egg Koththu for his girl friend was Rs 400. My son's chicken fried rice was Rs 250. Basically they charged double for them even though I was paying the bill. They refused to change even though I explained to the owners (Amanda and her family) that they were my relations and staying with me in Kandy. We had also had breakfast and lunch at way side places but this sort of thing did not happen. Be warned that scams like this are carried out by unscrupulous people. Check prices and if there are double standards if you go with foreigners.

The Cool Corner Ice cream parlor is located in historic Kandy, Sri Lanka. Owned and operated by my self Ramesh Perera). Cool corner is local company who offers a unique ice cream experience. My menu offers a wide range of ice cream( Ice cream, Organic Ice cream, vegetarian ice cream, Sorbet, Fruits juice, Frozen yogurt) and smoothie flavors made from completely natural ingredients from the local area. Why we are different? Our ice cream is not premade. It's fresh and more healthy and customers can request ice cream as they need it. Ex- You can ask sugar free ice cream or fat free ice cream. Stop by and watch me make it right in front of you and enjoy in few minutes. Cool Coroner look forward to serving you. Ramesh Perera Owner/ Operator

We visited the spice farm and had a very good informative guided tour round the farm. After we had visited the shop and bought quite a few products we were recommended to eat lunch in the restaurant. This suited well as by then we were hungry and it was a lovely situation to sit and eat lunch under the shade of the varied foliage. We were told that it was a buffet lunch being served. We said to the head waitress that we only needed a light lunch and not a full buffet so did they have small snacks. She suggested a fried rice which we took. We were silly enough to not check the price. When we came to pay we we were charged nearly double the price for the one bowl of fried rice compared with a full buffet. We would have expected the restaurant staff to advise that the buffet was cheaper than ordering from the menu. This experience left a bad taste and we did not tip the staff who served us. We made it quite clear that all we wanted was a light snack. In future always ask the price of the options being offered. So beware - check prices and compare. Otherwise the spice farm was great.

Have utilized the place on several occaisions when I have been travelling down from Kandy along A9 highway. The restaurant is situated just along the main road adjoining a sharp bend, and drivers need to be careful whenever entering and reversing from the premises. Space is available for parking. The place serve short eats, snacks and soft drinks along with a simple Sri Lankan buffet which is not expensive. Service is satisfactory and there are wash room facilities as well. This is a convenient spot to stop for a quick meal.
