Sree Sabarees is one of the finest vegetarian hotels in Madurai and also a personal favourite of local residents of Madurai. Hotel Sree sabarees is the right choice for customers who are on a lookout for hygienic and quality food as well as unique memorable taste.
We had the “meal” - South Indian thali served on a large fresh banana leaf. The waiters hovered around constantly replenishing our vegetarian meal. The local coffee to finish was very good. A popular place not meant for lingering after you have eaten. The food was tasty; restaurant clean and staff friendly and attentive. A great “local” place that is very cheap and good.

Restaurant is close to Meenakshi Ammal temple, in West Masi Street ,opposite Pothy's store. The restaurant is somewhat cramped and not air conditioned. There are three dining halls and all 3 are cramped. The dining hall in front side of first floor has better ventilation. But the food makes up for lack of ambience. Eat Podi Idli , and any other South Indian snacks and you will relish them. The place is easy on pocket too. Best in Madurai,I guess.

We went to Amma Mess on 11th March 2018 to have lunch....And we had a terrible experience....
We ordered Mutton Keema Balls and a Mutton Biryani....Mutton Biryani was terrible, with very small 4 pieces of mutton (keema like)....Actually one piece was cut into 4....Taste was was horrendous....
Mutton Keema Balls were smaller than a ping-pong ball, and believe me I'm not exaggerating.... Terrible experience....

They have four units in the same compound. They have a Bakery, Ice cream shop, Fast food counter by the road and a restaurant. The place is huge and clean. They have so many options. We tried the Falooda which was great. Probably the biggest Bakery and Ice cream shop in Madurai.

I read the positive reviews on this. I went here for lunch and ordered the thali on which there are lot of positive reviews. I realised this thali is inspired from Rajasthani (marwar taste) and Gujrati. The people from south, east and north will not enjoy it. It should not be in the top 5 of the list. Reason, it has only one type of thali which is focused on specific taste. India is vast country, please do some experiment in mixing the taste and dishes from all part our country. Thank you

Phil’s Bistro, Italian American restaurant which is situated in Madurai. It is opened since September 2012, headed by Chef Philip and this is the first Italian American Cuisine in Madurai. The menu is vast and impressive showcasing traditional specialties as well as modern adaptations.
We had Crispy Mozzarella Stick for starters, baked vegetables with garlic bread, Chicken pepper steak and Phil's Fried Chicken Steak. Everything was served piping hot, delicately flavored. Phil the chef greeted us and helped us to chose the dishes from the menu. Key lime pie was tasty and strawberry panna cotta was ok. They did not have Tiramisu to serve.
Service was good.
Only suggestion is the starter Mozzarella sticks could have been served along with some salad which could have served as a good garnish as well as accompaniment to the deep fired sticks.
