The expectations were already high and to exceed it is not easy. But is was an outstanding experience. Especially a starter with langoustine (Fine raviole de langoustine),and the John Dury /Saint Pierre (Epais filet de Saint-Pierre doré,
avocat et légumes croquants saisis aux noix de cajou, écume à la citronnelle et gingembre) were of exceptional quality and in the range of best ever had.
Service is very good, only a bit strange that there was no goodbye or wishing you a pleasant evening or stay. After settling the bill we just walked out. Another issue is that there our a lot of guests smoking. And only one couple was so civilized it went to the garden to smoke. It might be an incident or this place might attract people who are there to be seen and not to enjoy the creativity and excellence of the chef.

If you want to take a break from heavy French food don't miss La Fantasia. This a lovely small Moroccan restaurant. The vegetable tagine was excellent. The service is friendly and attentive. An excellent value. Make a reservation. There are only 10 tables.

The unprepossessing facade of this restaurant on Mausanne's main street hides an elegant little covered Terrace at the rear of the house. Certainly very efficiently run by an group of smartly uniformed ladies.
Kind a fascinating menu presentation; english translation is helpfully shown, and the components of the Plat du Jour are shown with their a la carte prices alongside. Consequently, a total no-brainer to go for the 55E option which also included a (perfectly acceptable) bottle of wine, a selection of cheese, and coffee to finish.
Off to a good start with a plate of several slices of smoked ham off the bone. Top quality but not particularly delicate.
Next it was daube of beef, amazingly accompanied by macaroni cheese which sounds dreadfully wrong but surprisingly seemed to work rather well. I think a daube is supposed to be beef stew and there were some very tender and sizeable chunks of meat on this occasion. I subsequently mentioned the complexion of this dish to some french chums and they were, frankly, quite horrified. But, as I said, it actually did seem to be more successful than one might expect.
Started to feel a little full by this stage, but still took full advantage of the comprehensive cheese board, including a very pungent and runny roquefort specimen.
Eased up for dessert by selecting a welcome nougat glace with a tinge of lavender and honey.
I declined coffee, and certainly felt that I had eaten for England by the time I left. And I'd do it again.
Excellent restaurant, pleasant location, generous and well-cooked food, professional staff, tremendous value for money - so what's not to like.

We had an evening meal here - fish of the day, chicken and chips and some wine.
Everything was excellent - and they served the food with largest bowl of garlic mayonnaise I have ever seen. Can't imagine anyone finishing it.
Red wine was great, service perfect.

My wife and I came here for lunch with our kids (age 8 and 10) after spending the morning at Chateau Des Baux.
We made sure to make Reservations, but there was plenty of space when we arrived.
We enjoyed the food but it was unremarkable. Service was friendly. The prices seemed quite high.
I doubt we would return should we be in the area again.

The town-village really-is so much quieter than nearby Saint-Remy or Les Baux; park for free and without hassle, and lunch in this unpretentious little restaurant, where the two young waitresses could not be sweeter, even though they don't have a lot of English. The three course "formule" was 17 Euros, and another prix fixe with more choice 24, in Les Baux or Saint Remy you could double that, with a side of snooty service. The carafe wine was decent too! You may want to call first, the place is small.

Simple but hearty cuisineBetter Quality Food / Less Cooking
What a joy and pleasure to find such a wonderfully authentic restaurant in the heart of one of the most touristy places in the south of France. A beautiful inner courtyard, shady, interesting artwork, away from the crowds outside. An amazing server, doing everying on her own, front of house welcoming, serving, taking payment, all while heavily pregnant and with a huge smile on her face. Interesting dishes out of the norm of the ordinary, priced very reasonably, presented beautifully, and tasting wonderful. If you happen to visit the town, there is no better place to go and have lunch than here. Sadly, I believe they are not open in the evenings.

This offers very fine cooking with a wonderful varied offering of fish and seafood dishes at amazingly good value for this area. Highly, highly recommended.
Over the past year this restaurant has been transformed and is enjoying a renaissance. Having lived in the village of Le Paradou for 11 years we have been to this restaurant on several occasions in the past, and with the previous two owners we stopped coming because of the poor food, service and atmosphere. Since taking over less than a year ago the new owners have transformed this restaurant into somewhere quite special.
Our starters were excellent with my dish of three oysters and 3 mussels in a lovely crème sauce absolutely delicious whilst my wife's fish soup was exceptionally good. The main course of fish was beautifully cooked and presented in a mushroom sauce. Desserts were a good finale to a fine meal. The wine is mostly local and well chosen. Mas St Berthe is the nearest vineyard and offers some of the best value in the whole of Le Baux. Try their white!
They do bouillabaisse but you need to book 48hrs beforehand.
The decor previously was in the very best of bad taste with pink and grey plastic banquet Seating. This has been swept away and now the interior is fresh, relaxed and attractive offering a nice calm but convivial atmosphere to enjoy your meal. We ate inside in late October but there is a pleasant courtyard in the summer.
The service was good, relaxed and friendly.
Well worth a visit and we feel blessed to have this and its neighbour, Bistro du Paradou, in our village as well as the several good restaurants in nearby Maussane. This holds its own and more in comparison with its competitors.

After having done the research on restaurants aroud our Mouries base, L'Oustaloun had been flagged as a "must go" place. It was supposed to be the traditional Provencal restaurant of good atmosphere and cuisine. Exactly what we were looking for. Some locals have confirmed our selection as correct.
We have booked our table two days earlier, for today (Friday) at 1.00 p.m., directly, visiting the restaurant and talking to the owners' son.
Arriving to the restaurant, I let my wife and our pet dog out in front of the doors, while I went on looking for a parking lot.
It was a very hot day, some 30 Deg C. Before splitting, I told my wife to request a table inside the restaurant, as there was also their Terrace on village's main square, shared by several restaurants, caffes and pizzerias.
Returning back to the restaurant, I found my wife seated at the table in the Terrace of the main square. I asked her how come she was seated outside the restaurant, she told me that she tried getting a table inside, but had been ordered out, understanding that the inside of the restaurant was occupied by "the family".
I have to admit: to me, visiting a restaurant is much more than just food and drinks. Atmosphere, setting, relation to the personnel or owners, all play a paramount importance.
Having said this, imagine me being sent out of the preferred setting (inside), into the crowded Terrace of several restaurants and 30 Deg C, with an explanation which only added to frustration!
I found a man, who I thought was a waiter (but my wife later told me he was the owner), who confirmed the same, being there were only two of them waiting tables, and they had family inside who needed attention of one. Most annoying: inside of the restaurant, "the family of four", were sitting at the table, while there were at least 15-20 empty tables around them vaccant! Only if they were Sicilian family, I migh have ended up with accepting this as a valid excuse.
In summary: Unacceptable and arrogant attitude of the owners, inexplicable to me!
We stood up and went to one of the no-name restaurants next door. We had first to pay € 5.50 for a bottle of mineral water, which my wife ordered! So we walked into the next restaurant carrying a bottle of our water! What a situation, what an experience!
Avoid by all means, unless you are masochistic!
