Alvaro's restaurant, established in 1977, serves Portugese and Mediterranean cuisine with silver service.
I have lived in the area for many years but it is a long while since last eating here. Just why have I left it so long? By the end of a memorable dining experience I realised that I have been missing an imaginative menu, wonderfully-cooked food, attentive and professional service and a very friendly atmosphere.
Three of us enjoyed every mouthful. Soup (leek and potato) and fresh asparagus were the chosen starters. Then one had calves liver, another had Dover sole and I had grilled wing of skate. These were accompanied by an assortment of vegetables which, by themselves, were worth a five-star rating. As I write this review I can see the dish in front of me and my taste buds start quivering!
The Sunday opening started at 3.00 pm so was this a late lunch or an early dinner? It doesn't matter because Alvaro's is so much more than a Portuguese restaurant tucked away in a back street of Westcliff. The visit accompanied by two appreciative friends, was one of those rare occasions when dining out is so, so good.

With our authentic Italian food, ambient atmosphere and high standards of service you can be assured of a great time every visit. Our pasta is freshly made daily to a traditional Italian family recipe. We provide a modern dining room for classic and familiar Italian dishes and international wines.
My daughter brought me here for an early mothers day dinner. We chose the 15.95 midweek deal. The food was excellent as was the service. Attentive without being obtrusive. The restaurant was filling up as the night went on most seeming to be regulars which is a good sign. Will definitely be back.

Contemporary and informal bistro style restaurant open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch or just delicious coffees and cake. Plus 3 evenings for dinner (Thurs*, Fri & Sat - *Apr-Dec). Fully licensed to serve alcohol with meals with an excellent range of wines not found anywhere else in the area.Food cooked with passion, flair and imagination with plenty of options for vegetarians. From warm salads to juicy burgers, Thai curries to flatbread type sandwiches. Specials on the blackboards change every couple of days to keep things interesting. We pride ourselves on looking after all our customers and will do all we can especially for those with dietary needs/allergies.Our evening menu starts at 7pm
The Grove serves fantastic food, perfectly cooked using high quality ingredients. The standard menu has plenty of variety but there are also a number of daily "Specials" and themed nights (eg French, American, Asian etc).
The staff are efficient, friendly and professional; the restaurant is comfortable and, due to the great location, you may well end up with a great view over the Thames.
I have not yet tried their breakfasts yet, but both lunch and dinner are excellent.
If you fiend yourself in Leigh feeling hungry then this is the place to go :-)

The Bellhouse an idyllic country restaurant and pub located in the quaint village of Eastwood. Set in beautiful surroundings, the recently refurbished, family run 15th century Bellhouse steeped in history and charm really is the perfect place to relax and unwind with family and friends. Our fine selection of beers, traditional real ales and extensive wine list can all be enjoyed within our grounds, dining al-fresco on our large patio or simply cosy beside our open fires, whichever your preference you will be following in the footsteps of your Royal Heritage. At the heart of our pub is a team of highly experienced chef’s and staff who are all passionate about food. The style of our food is traditional British, influenced from all that is available locally and seasonal. The meat we use is of the highest quality, our roasted leg & loin of pork is from our Scott’s Hall farm in Canewdon which has proved to be equally as popular as the succulent Dedham Vale roasted rib of beef on a Sunday. All of our cured meats and smoked products are produced in house by our chefs. Fine mouth-watering examples include our house hot smoked salmon with pea puree confit cherry tomatoes and soft duck yoke and our house smoked wood pigeon salad served with butter roasted hazel nuts and toasted walnuts. We are equally passionate about using seasonal vegetables. Our chef’s take a lot of pride in their on-site herb garden. Other fresh ingredients arrive daily, some of our most exciting seasonal produce can be experienced on our daily specials board. A great deal of time is taken in preparation for your arrival and every meal is cooked for you to order. We are very conscious of our countries depleting fish stocks and try to utilize more sustainable species, as specials, which we find can be more flavoursome and offer a much greater variety. At the Bellhouse we are proud to support British farming. We hope you share our ethos of supporting local producers and suppliers and share our passion for Great British Food
We visited on Saturday afternoon. Had a fabulous lunch. It was my Mums birthday. Kyra, our waitress was great. Starters, the seafood platter for 1 is a meal in itself, calves liver very tasty. Mains, the risotto was delicious, the gammon looked great, the burger looked huge.... All 5 of us really enjoyed our food and the service was excellent...... Looking forward to Thursday, we booked for Afternoon Tea. Thank you so much, great afternoon....

Always polite and efficient service and if you make an effort you will also feel welcome and looked after. Food perfectly cooked and tasty. It is much better than the the name "cafe" suggests.
Good value for money.
Take your own alcoholic drinks
The best vegetarian breakfasts I know of although their full English is even better.
Great in the evenings too but it is a small place so suggest you book.

Really enjoyed our first visit to The Rose Garden which has been shut since April 2017 (The Saltings). The new owner has transformed the restaurant which is comfortable and the food is excellent. Good choice on the fixed price, but selected from starters (smaoked samlon and scrambed eggs) and mains (grilled cod /pasta provencal) Did not have room for dessert but choice excellent. Cost with two cappuccino under £37.00. Staff friendly and helpful. Will defentiely be back soon!

Been here several times but never got around to doing a review.
Ricardo was not in when we visited but we were looked after by the other guy who read out our regular order as he handed us the menu! Good memory.
Had Caprichosa pizza. So fresh and delicious. We avoid ordering garlic bread as well as it's all so filling.
It's a small restaurant but the welcome is big and the food is fantastic.
Parking -- is on street and free for a set amount of time. It can be busy but determination pays off. It will be worth it.
Recommended.

Saw this on trip advisor and decided to check it out for breakfast.
Quirky place with plenty of menu options.
Food was fresh and piping hot. Poached eggs were perfect.
Only negative was that one meal did not come out with the other three, for a good 5 minutes, (could hear that there was confusion about the order) would have liked a quick explanation rather than nothing.
Food did take a while, but it was cooked to order.
Highly recommend!!
