a busy restaurant by the end of the night.initially a bit funny when they thought we only wanted a drink, but they allowed us to sit down. For starters some of the best prepared oysters with all the usual grit removed. I had the entrecôte , I would have called it rib eye. Actually very good, one of the better steaks I have had cooked over flame other than on mt egg at home.

We were a party of 12 arriving at different times over a 30 minute period all fashionably late for a celebration lunch.
The staff handled us brilliantly and our various attempts to order in French before replying in perfect English in the time honoured fashion!
We enjoyed an excellent meal with a combination of a la carte and table d'hote choices and probably too much good wine.
This restaurant is a substantial cut above most other restaurants in La Tranch. Pricey but excellent.
Lots of fish and shell fish choices all beautifully presented and meat / vegetarian for those less adventurous.
Right on the sea front with lovely views.
Would go again.

In a town dominated by fairly plastic tourist traps, a real gem. Vast, thin-crust pizzas, superbly cooked. Juicy steak ( a 400g entrecôte for 18€), great seafood. Really friendly and helpful staff, too, and a nice atmosphere. Would go again happily.

Having tried a few restaurants in la Tranch Sur Mere the Phare West was our favourite restaurant. The quality of the food and the service from the friendly and helpful staff was consistent. The price was reasonable and compared well with other restaurants. My tip - have the carafe of wine and not a bottle - good value indeed.

We booked in for 20 people. The staff were fantastic, very helpful and welcoming, bearing in mind we were 40 minutes late as we were cycling from La Rochelle. The food was more than ample for our needs and very fairly priced. I would recommend this to anyone and a change from the norm. The free coffees was a lovely gesture, even if we did spend a fair bit on beer and wine!!
We will definitely go again if in the area.

I went here with the family during a holiday to Jard Sur Mere. I wanted to visit this restaurant based on the reviews on here and the photos of the food. It was refreshing to find a good restaurant in the area that was doing something different as you can take almost all the restaurant's in the town and you'll find little difference between the menu's, all aimed at grabbing the tourist £ / € for food that doesn't really inspire. It's got a really nice feel to place from the moment your welcomed by the owner who's friendly and genuine. The menu is great, I must admit I didn't go for one of their specialties e.g. the grilled French bread with amazing toppings as the French had tried to kill me with bread since I arrived, as it seems that you need to eat at least one baguette a day as part of the national diet and to be honest I was glutened to the max by now. I had the curried moules as I was yet to try them and I wanted to have them somewhere good, which they were. Creamy, and subtly curried so you could taste the moule and accompanying source. The kids ate of the les enfants menu and both enjoyed it. One small point is the ham and chips did seem to be a bit of packet ham and I think maybe they could improve on this? However the ice cream dessert definitely made up for this, only top quality ice cream here and some great flavours too. Also not badly priced for the area which on the whole I found to be expensive compared to what you get in the UK. All in all a good meal and gem in the area. Thank you.

A great welcome a bigger smarter restaurant than the outside appearance would suggest.
For those visiting with children it was nice to see a small outdoor play area.
The cod and chips was absolutely amazing, possibly a little more expensive than in England, but freshly and beautifully cooked.
GIVE IT A TRY

Eat here as other places either full or closed, although it soon filled up. Bang in the centre of town we got a nice table on outside Terrace and received friendly service.price very reasonable and food very good.
I had nice seafood and my wife a good steak, followed by nice desserts. Drink had good choice keenly priced. Will return again this week as we liked it here and menu caters for all tastes.

A good evening for couples good atmosphere and choice of wines. Not a huge menu but prepared by husband and wife's team efforts. Restricted opening hours now that October is here and closed for large part of the winter ring or check web page for Reservations. Entrecôte with bernaise a good choice
