El Tambor offers typical Colombian cuisine a few kilometers outside of Bogotá. This is good place to go on a sunny weekend and breath some fresh air. After 10 years in their original location they are opening a new location, also outside of Bogotá. Their "arepas de chócolo" are great and their grilled meats are good enough.
Going to El Tambor is certainly an experience. A good break from Bogota's pollution, surrounded by Emerald green Gardens. The concept is innovative, serving family style fried fare/street food, nicely presented in a basket. The food itself is not amazing, but well worth the trip for the ambiance.

service: good; atmosphere: cozy, warm, nice music, very homey!
food: homey nice italian; we usually end up orderin lots of things and sharing: antipasto, pizza, caprese, tomato soup, one of the meats, and the macarrones al forno! you wont go wrong!
desserts are still not my personal favorite here, but the people at my table did enjoy them.
dont miss it!

Considering I live near La Calera and work in Bogotá, I drive by this place at least twice a day. After visiting it for the first time last weekend, I finally understand why it doesn't have so many visitors and is frequently rented out to film/TV commercial shoots: the only thing special about it is the venue itself. Made entirely out of attractive well-crafted wood, this place feels more like a high-class cabin in Canada or Austria, not a restaurant on the road to La Calera. Well maintained, well-lit and impeccably clean, as a photographer and video producer I can see how this could be a great location for a shoot. The steaks? Meh. The prices? Ouch! (for Bogotan standards). There are far better steakhouses in Bogotá, and you don't have to drive 40 minutes to get there.

Exclusive Iberian gastronomy: Restaurant and delicatessen located in the best area via Calera-Sopo. Has exclusive spaces that encourage the pleasure of good Spanish table under the hand of chef and owner Juantxu Alonso, who has an extensive record of excellent dining and successful initiatives.
Our driver recommended this restaurant as he lives near the area and what a find. We stopped for lunch on the way back to Bogota and had the best tapas I've ever had ( and that includes Spain - the chef/owner is Spanish). The octopus...MoreThanks friends for your opinion. It was a pleasure to serve. Hope to see you soon.

It’s hard to fathom why Madison is so highly rated. The burgers were fine, nothing special. Buns were too soft and fell apart. French fries were very decent. Appetizers were good- we had grilled edamame and jalapeño ‘balls’. The location is good, it’s really dark inside though. Service friendly. Meh.

The best Colombian food since 50 years ago. Come and enjoy our food really close to the city but far enough to feel the fresh air and the beautiful mountain. The restaurant has a nice view to the Teusaca river. We are open Monday to Wednesday only with reservation. Thursday to Sunday is open. Please check the hours. Do you want to try something different? Then come and enjoy our Terrace, balcony or the green area next to the warm chimney and the best hot wine or canelazo.
It is a nice drive from downtown Bogota to this restaurant. The road climbs the mountain behind Bogota and gives a panoramic view of the city of Bogota. The restaurant is rather unique in as much as there are five or six individual rooms all...MoreAgradecemos mucho su comentario y esperamos que nos vuelva a visitar la próxima vez que regrese a Colombia.

Having read the reviews and looking forward to some Central European cuisine, we had high expectations for our visit to Kurnik. Unfortunately, while the mushrooms were okay, they were hardly out of this world, and the main courses, far from being Central European, were very ordinary fare that you can find in any Colombian restaurant. They also need to check how long to cook meat, as the medium streak I ordered was definitely well done. While the service was friendly, the place itself is rather a dark hut, lacking in atmosphere due to the absence of any music or indeed any other diners. A great pity, as we were very much looking forward to our lunch here.

It is without doubt one of the best mexican restaurants in Bogotá and its surroundings. Some of the dishes remind me of the Casa Mexicana. The tortilla soup, the carnitas, and their meat are just perfect.
