Murugan cafe on mutt road is a very good restaurant for great food in Kumbakonam.. The coffee here is amazing and strong. The food is definitely good. I have had idly and plain dosa here and both tasted delicious. All the more reason to revisit here on our next Kumbakonam visit.

This hotel is pretty famous for its non veg dishes, esp the Parottas which are a must try in this hotel. Only let down is the lack of car parking as this hotel is located in the busiest street of Kumbakonam

My lovely wife and I were staying at Raya's Grand Hotel next door so ended up eating dinner here a couple of times, mainly because there aren't too many other tempting options nearby. The South Indian food - particularly the dosa - was pretty good. The North Indian options, however, were pretty poor. The dahl makhani was completely unlike any version of this dish I'd sampled in a month in Rajasthan. Likewise the paneer kadai, which was light on paneer and heavy on onion. Stick with the local fare.

Restaurant is part of Sivamuruga hotel, very close to Kumbakonam bus stand... They have good options of South Indian, North Indian and Chinese cuisine in their menu... All items we ordered were tasty and well prepared... Service was good... Parking area is a bit cramped for space...

After asking the locals for best restaurant here in Kumbakonam, and also searched TripAdvisor and finally selected this restaurant.
This restaurant lives up to its name among the locals. Amazing taste chutney, try the rava dosa, and the soft idly. After finishing all the meals do not forget to have the wonderful filter coffee.
Do visit this restaurant if you are in Kumbakonam.

The restaurant is excellent and serves very good vegetarian food that is fresh, tasty and well prepared. The staff take care of the guest's needs very well. As far as the Indian food is concerned, this restaurant offers the best in the town of Kumbakonam. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner here for 5 days and found there was consistency and excellence in the food offered. Don't Miss!!

It is located in a corner of the adikumbeshwarar temple complex !. Run by Brahmins, it has a very simple and rustic appearance. But appearances are deceptive and the foods served there are really excellent !. I had a relish of the soft and fluffy tasty idlis with chutney and podi dosa. Excellent. Coffee is also really good and the whole experience offers value for money !. Excellent taste, i can say and homely food wihtout any trouble for the strained travellers stomach !.

The ambience is cosy, service excellent.Had ordered potato fries which was yummy followed by Mushroom manchuri-very tasty followed by schezwan noodles and paneer rice which was not so great. The bill was Rs 470/- which was economical.Recommended to visit once.Their specialty is 104 dosa varieties which we don't try and they claim to operate in some 10 countries.
Tried having breakfast by 10 am in morning but still they were not open for business
