The "Kapetanova kuca" restaurant is situated on the most attractive location on the Mali Ston waterfront. The name was derived and chosen as such due to the fact that it was the centre and dwelling place of the Mali Ston Guard Captain. The "Kapetanova kuca" was opened on 1 September 1986 and back then it was a family tavern. It is owned by Kralj family, one of the oldest families in Mali Ston. The restaurant offers specialties of the Mali Ston Bay exclusively, and includes a large winery of Peljesac wines.
We ordered one kg of mussels, four oysters, and a grilled octopus for lunch. Also had two glasses of white wine.
The oysters and grilled octopus entree were quite good. The mussels were small in sizes, and a little too salty. But still tasty. The wine was good. The bread spread was excellent. And the the price was amazingly cheap. It costed us less than 55€! The surrounding environments were quite cozy. With the old castle and long wall just behind the restaurant, we had a nice walk after lunch.
Overall, it was a good meal that deserved a detour en route to Dubrovnik. Recommended!!

You can find restaurant Bota Sare, Mali Ston in narrow center waterfront, situated within the old castle. Wide palette of fresh fish, unique oysters, shellfish is prepared as per original local recipes that bring finger licking food to your table (ask for gradele, popara, buzara, brudet). Do not miss to try local risotto, black risotto, and homemade bread from natural fire heated oven. We also invite you to take a boat trip to see Ston's Bay and to visit the place where the Sare family is growing shellfish close to the Banje Island which is owned by family Sare and family Matkovic. On Banje Island there is a large number of various Mediterranean herbs and over 200 olive threes which provide the olive oil for Bota restaurants. The experience of visiting the island will be improved by the special program which can be prepared in advance. For many different possibilities, please consult the restaurant Manager Tomislav Šare.
Our experience at Bota Sare in Mali Ston was as part of a ship shorex, so it may not be typical. We began by visiting their mussel and oyster beds on a small boat. Very interesting process to raise these shellfish. We enjoyed fabulously fresh mollusks which were accompanied by excellent Peljesac wines. Then off to the group lunch at the restaurant. We had a fixed menu of mixed salads, tuna salad, seafood risotto, mussel fettuccine with red/wine table wine and caramel custard for dessert. Everything was delicious but service was lacklustre. I expect individual patrons who order off the full menu would have a different experience.

Last year, I organized a trip to Croatia and we travelled in a group of 5. A private van was hired to bring us around to the various cities and towns, which include Zagreb, Split, Zadar, Dubrovnik, and the island of Korcula.
This recommendation to dine at this particular restaurant was given to me by my private guide in Dubrovnik.
We travelled from Dubrovnik back to Zagreb, and had our lunch in Ston, which is famous for its oysters and seafood.
It was recommended to have a reservation, but we didnt make any ahead. By the time we arrived, the restaurant - Konoba Bakus was full house. We had to spend sometime in this little town of Ston, browsing through some souvenir shops while waiting for our turn.
Finally, the wait was worthwhile. We ordered oysters, prawns, mussels and some fish.
When we were served the food, we were all hungry and looking forward to the delicacies. The oysters were very fresh, and they tasted a little sweet to me. It was nice. Mussels were cooked with wine and garlic, and they were superb! The prawns were prepared with risotto, and this dish was fine with me as I am not a fan of the risotto. As for the little fish, it was recommended by the staff at the restaurant. It was kind of salty, as I do not take salty food often back home.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience dining at the Konoba Bakus. It is obvious that they have really good business with guests coming in perpetually into the restaurant.
Last of all, I find that the cost of the food is generally much lower compared to that in Western Europe.
Do make a stop here for a great meal if you are in Croatia.

Nice place. Great and tasty food. Relaxing atmosphere. Helpful and friendly staff. Come and try.
Ate here twice during our stay, extremely fresh food set on a wonderful harbour background. The smell of grilling fish and wonderfully attentive staff creates a great atmosphere. Highly recommend the fish platter for all the best of the days catch!

Croatian family owned restaurant located in town Metkovic in the valley of the river Neretva, an ideal place for a break on your way to Dubrovnik, Split, Medjugorje, Mostar ... The ambiance of the restaurant is suitable for intimate celebrations of weddings, christenings, birthdays, anniversaries ... Be our guest, we will take care of you in lovely atmosphere with delicious food!
we stopped here based on a recommendation of a local friend. Wow!!!. We ate ready made plates, such as boiled beef with sauerkraut and potatoes, grilled chicken breast with pasta, frog legs provencial and grilled fish with salad. Wow, everything was served fast and it was delicious.
And it was served with warmth and smile. The bill was very reasonable considering all the value, actually it was cheap and great! We will be back

Restaurant Pecina is located in Ploce where the A-1 Hwy ends and before you get to the marshy area of the Neretva River. There are no gas stations/ rest stops with food on a long stetch of the new Hwy before Ploce. Pecina has a lovely, vine covered Terrace, a dark bar that looks like a cave and two indoor dining areas (one with the cave theme). We ate there on our way to Dubrovnik and again, on the way back.We were pleasantly surpised both times! On the first visit I had a very tasty tomato based seafood risotto and my husband had an excellent grilled shish-k-bob. On our 2nd visit we started with an exceptionally good marinated seafood salad. As an entree my husband had the Adriatic squid. He had a very generous portion of 8 or 9 very tasty squid. I had a wood grilled Bass which was one of the freshest, tastiest fish I had the whole trip. (That is really saying something because we ate a lot of fish!). On top of this the prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food served.
My only complaint is about the bathrooms. Although they are basically clean and provide a generous supply of toilet paper and paper towels they are dingy and dark. They need a fresh coat of paint and better lighting. In addition, the 2nd time I was there the toilet seat was off in the ladies room.

Excellent service! The oysters were amazing and our mains were very tasty as well. The views of Trstenik were beautiful! The price point was spot on. This was a flawless restaurant experience from start to finish. High recommend going and visiting Trstenik!

Great and authentic experience in the middle of Peljesac peninsula. Great food and homemade wine, selection of grappa ( Rakija and liker). Amazing ambient inside the taverna with funny and easy going hosts. Not the biggest selection of food but you can be sure it is fresh and local! Try to explore the property while there…

We came with high expectations since this restaurant (konoba) was recommended to us by a friend.
Service was not only very slow but we got different meals from the one we ordered!
Waitress shall be taking notes when receiving orders.
Waited for more than an hour for pasta. Black risotto was average.
The view from the Terrace is very nice.
