Having wandered around Khiva all morning and keeping inevitably returning to its centre (the town is so small), I found myself by Farrukh restaurant, which is located right on Pahlavon Mahmood, at about lunchtime. Although I’m usually cautious about restaurants in the touristy centers, I decided to give it a try.
After busy Old Town crowded with tourists’ hordes, I was charmed by its quiet courtyard. There was no one else there, which contributed to a truly relaxing atmosphere. There are lots of traditional colours used in interior décor and table layout, so the place looks very authentic.
You can choose between sitting at a table and getting yourself cozy on the sofas akin to oriental Tachte. I opted for the latter.
The service was fast, and soon I was having my tea shortly followed by salad and pilaf. Can’t say it was somehow remarkable, but good enough. The bill was moderate.
Surprisingly, there was some typical souvenir staff available for sale right there in the restaurant.
Nicely located in the very heart of Ichan Qala (Khiva Old Town), Farrukh offered good enough food and relaxing atmosphere – all that was needed in between of an active city exploring.

This place is terrible. They overcharge for simple fair. Be sure you know the price before you order anything.

Nice local place conveniently located, owner speaks good English, food very good (we had manty, shashlik, salad and bread with meat inside), prices very reasonable compared to other places, esp inside city walls, only point i would have is cleanliness, glasses and cups do urgently need to be washed...

Our travel company arranged an evening dinner here for us. We chose to sit outside which is right next to the Islam Khodja Minor, very scenic and a privilige, I guess. A nut basket was served before they took our order. The agent ordered all local foods for us which was mainly soups and vegetable fares. What I found was that they had used one particular spice in everything (I think it was dill), even in the rice. Otherwise the food was good quality, hot and reasonable portions. The service was pretty quick and the waiters helpful.

Setting at night was beautiful - the tables outside sit just under the facade of the madrassa which is lit up at night with green LCD strands and lights, very relaxing and warm. A clarinet player (quite good for Uz) played along with a side track but not loudly, and the food (ideal size portions, flavorful and good) and wine (quite good for Uz) made it for some nice dinner evenings there. Not as popular with the big tourist bus groups so much nicer of an experience compared to the other tourist joints in town. Serving staff very friendly and relaxed. Mantis and boiled pelmeni were good, as were their many salads and soups, all quite good. Good working WiFi also available.

Fed up with all the places inside the walls, we headed to this place's Terrace, it is a great location with an exceptional view on the west gate and the surrounding sights (when we were there we experienced a phantastic sunset that bathed all buildings in a warm light...), food was very good (freshly prepared) and reasonably priced (nothing is cheap here!), service was efficient and very friendly, I would def recommend this place!!

Our tour brought us there. It's a pleasant open air restaurant (in summertime) where we enjoyed local starters, meat and rice filled red peppers and superb Green spaghetti; everything was tasteful and well cooked. They have as well in a house nearby a Terrace at 2nd floor where you can have the same food but enjoying superb sights on Khiva historical monuments. A must.

Lovely to sit outside in the airy courtyard. There were also raised platforms covered with rugs where you could lounge at low tables and be sheltered by colourful hanging quilts. The food was absolutely fine and the service very friendly. I had the pumpkin dumplings which could have done with a side order of hot veggies but it was fine. The skinny but permanently hungry cat also made an appearance.

Recommended and patronised by our tour company. Ate here twice. For lunch I had a vegetable soup with crunchy bread. My group was taken to the restaurant for dinner in the evening. We were seated at a number of large tables on the Terrace. Another group nearby was being entertained by musicians playing local songs. A lovely location in the shadow of the Kalta Minor Minaret.
According to the guide books the restaurant is famous locally for green spaghetti, egg ravioli and meat & vegetable stew. The food was well presented but not to my, or my group's, taste.
