Dating from at least the 10th century, today Kassel is most famous internationally as the home of Documenta, an every-five-years exhibition of modern and contemporary art. In the late 17th century Kassel received a large influx of Huguenot refugees from France. During the 1800s, it became the capital of the Brothers Grimm's Fairy Tale Route. In 1943, the city was virtually razed by British bombers, leaving few old sights, but the 18th-century Wilhelmshöhe Castle overlooking the city remains.

Simply one of the most delicious culinary experiences! Our German's not great so we asked for recommendations only to discover most amazing &a friendly yet professional staff and absolutely fantastic food. Really flexible and accommodating to please a real meat-lovers, sea-food fans and vegans. No wonder it's the best eatery in the city :-) good value for money!

On our menu you will find classic dishes of traditional German cuisine, regional specialities plus exclusive international offerings. Creative cuisine makes one curious - in our case about the new dishes presented each week on our Specials Menu hat also features specially selected wine suggestions for each course.
This restaurant associated to Hotel Gute offers excellent traditional German dishes with the little accents that make them really delicious. The pepper steak is rather traditional with beans and fries, but the Turkey steak with curry foam and fruits is a class of its own.
Service is extremely friendly, atmosphere peaceful and in rather dim light. Very nice experience.

El Erni is a very nice Spanish restaurant in a nice neighborhood in Kassel. We went there to celebrate my wife's birthday. The staff is very friendly en there is a nice atmosphere in the restaurant, also due to the fact that almost the complete restaurant is lighted by candles. The menu is good. I however regret take we chose the home wine of the restaurant; it is not a bad wine, but the wine has no character. Besides this small point i would to recommend this restaurant.

It's a bit pricey but totally worth it. The food is great, especially the fondue is fantastic, but needs to be preordered. I recommend trying it for everyone.

Not centrally located but definitely worth the tour. Staff was extremely attentive, and all greeted us cordially when we left. Made us feel at home! Prices most reasonable, great souvlaki and grilled fish. Very stylish food in a family owned restaurant. Too bad we only stay one day in Kassel, or else we'd go there again tomorrow.

Food is good, no doubt. However, the waiters have no clue. Don't know how to serve and place plates, can't remember who ordered what and don't even note that only 4 out of 5 received their dish. Don't ask if you need more water and do not offer desert menu after the main course. Real let down. Get them trained as they spoil the otherwise good food and atmosphere.

In the States, this is the kind of Asian eatery that passes for authentic in smaller cities that don't know any better. If you go in with very low expectations, you won't be disappointed, and the prices are ok. But my spring roll was a gummy lump, my Thai-style soup was thin and sour, and my spicy lemongrass chicken wasn't spicy, had no lemongrass flavor and barely any chicken. Not sure why this is so highly rated unless the other places in town are really bad. To bottom it all off, I was up all night bidding farewell to my dinner.

Fine but not overly complicated dining. Beautiful food, to see, smell and taste. Impeccable service. Given the variety and standard of materials, ingredients, wines and highest quality of preparation, the price is very reasonable. Flavours were exquisite and the experience refined yet not at all fussy. A new favourite dining experience to add to our top ten worldwide. Kudos! Note: Having just arrived in Kassel, we used online booking, which was simple to use, but allowed us to book (just an hour before our intended timing) when the restaurant was actually closed except for a function in an upper room. This late booking went unnoticed and we arrived at 9pm to find the restaurant itself empty and that the chef had just left the kitchen. Upstanding in the extreme, staff welcomed us and quickly contacted the chef. We were seated within minutes and candle lit. A perfect dining experience ensued, all the more surprising given that we were alone in the dining room. We did not feel so, nor were we hovered over. Sounds from the function above assure me this is a popular venue. There should be a queue at the door every evening.

We got here early on a Friday and managed to find a table no problem but there were a lot of reserved tables. I ordered the ham hock and my husband, the chicken wings. The meals that arrived were enormous, we barely managed to finish them, then struggled walking back to the hotel, as we'd eaten so much! I'd rather feel like that though, than leave and still be hungry.

Were here last Sunday for a quiet dinner, (luckily booked in advance), surprised that every table was taken.
We had a vegan platter for 2, good mixed variety, plenty enough to feed 3 people!
Service was a little bit unprofessional, but very friendly, will certainly come back!
