In 1715, margrave Karl III Wilhelm decided he needed more space than he had in Durlach, so he moved his capital to Karlsruhe and had it designed in circular spokes around his new palace. Because of its unique radial shape, Karlsruhe is sometimes called the “fan city.” Home to Germany’s most important federal courts, the city accordingly teems with civil servants. Karlsruhe Schloss (castle) was badly damaged in World War II, but was rebuilt and is now home to the Badisches Landesmuseum.

"Unlike in the tower Mountain" is one of the most beautiful places to geni the magnificent views of the city and our region ng - whether through the large picture windows of the newly designed interiors or open air from the spacious Terrace. Enjoy with us not only magnificent sunsets, but a variety of regional cuisine, which is a very special taste experience with refined preparation and unusual flavors. This applies to our small regional specialties as well as our great (gourmet) menus. Products from the area have it the way most impressed us during preparation. I got in Karlsruhe with just 24 years to my first Michelin star. That was 2009. I was "Germany's youngest star chef." That's what I'm looking forward to this day. And of course the fact that we always gave the Michelin guide with this star to date again. Meanwhile, we are among the 150 best restaurants in Germany. This is a very special honor and recognition that anew to inspire us every day to provide the best for us - for our guests, for you.
Been at the restaurant several times now. But since they lost their Michelin Star, the quality and innovativeness rapidly decreased.
The last two visits, but especially the last one, service was poor. We came in and when the waitress finally noticed us, she just pointed at the table. When we said, that the food didn’t taste good, they did not even consider, that it could have been the kitchens mistake. No apologies at all, had to be our poor taste of food. That is not how you want to be treated at such a restaurant. - Just to mention a few faux pas...
Also the food, which I think is the most important thing, simply wasn’t good. When they tried new combinations of sweet and salty etc. they just didn’t work out. Other dishes, as for example the meat-dished lacked any innovation/surprises and where just okay. The Amuse-Gueule also were nothing special and again, the service almost threw it on the table instead of serving it to us… The highlight definitely were the desserts, which were good.
Overall we decided not to go there another time. The restaurant cannot live up to the high expectations you have or the high aspiration the team has for themselves. I cannot recommend it, as I think it is neither innovative nor an unique food-experience and the view does not justify such high price-premiums.

Visited on a Saturday with two colleagues as part of a marketing trip. One of my colleagues had been before and led us here to try the traditional flammkuchen (not tried before). We each had the most traditional one which was very nce - thin and crispy. Quite rich but not overly so.
The beer was very good - decent selection. Authentic surroundings with nice old-fashioned signs and adverts on the wall. It was busy and had a good atmosphere. Service was both pleasant and efficient, with no communication problems (due to their good English rather than our poor German).

Karlsruhe has many greek restaurants and although all of them do not offer the real greek meals but the "greek meals for germans" (poseidon, zeus, etc.; these names do not exist in Greece and the greek meals with meat do not have these meat combinations), Sokrates is the best greek restaurant in Karlsruhe with enough real greek starters and with a more authentic greek ambiente of the restaurant (without statues of Zeus etc.). We visit Sokrates about 5 times per year.

We visited the place with a large company from a meeting, so we enjoyed a separate room. The service was excellent and the food was tasty although was preselected. The fresh beer was superb. A knowledgeable and friendly guy got us through the secrets of brewing and we tasted every ingredient used in beer making! There was a friendly atmosphere. The only thing that can be commended in the 80's music that was in low volume though, since many of us were at that ages did not annoy, but for youngsters could be odd. But this is Germany and probably this music is still popular.

I was here recently for dinner and really enjoyed the experience. The restaurant has a nice relaxing feel to it and the waiter who looked after us was also the owner. His knowledge of the menu was great and he made some good recommendations about food and wine for our group.
The portions were all good sized and were really tasty. The table had a large variety of choices and all of the meals looked really good.
The wine was perfect for us and there was a fairly extensive choice available. If I was in Karlsruhe again, I would definitely return here.

It was my wife's special birthday and this restaurant was recommended to us by local people who knew the area well. The food was excellent and staff even brought a cake out with a candle in it for my wife. Nice touch.
Would go back again if in this area. Also centrally placed in Karlsruhe.

I ordered my favourite meal as it was on the menu and asked for a dry white wine from the region. Super food and drink. Casual but no compromises. I'd definitely return. The high star rating is because of mid price, good food, and good atmosphere.

Portuguese Restaurant Casa do Jose
I was staying at the nearby ACHAT hotel and someone suggested Casa do Jose for a meal. I went there and was met by a very pleasant gentleman who seated me and had the menu for me immediately, explaining all the non-English options.
I had a beer and ordered a steak which arrived cooked exactly as I had asked. The meal was very enjoyable, in very pleasant surroundings and the charge was very reasonable. A lovely experience overall.

With some friends we tried Gambas al ajillo and Pulpo a la vinagreta, both delicious Tapas. We also received great recommendations of wine, we tasted a glass of Sierra Cantabria. Good prices that fit the quality of the place.

A tasteless dry bun in the circle of some strange salad. Instead of well-done cutlet, I got medium and my husband – vice versa. Instead of crispy fries - extremely greasy cold potatoes. Too high price for such a disappointment. I guess , there is the best place to have the worst burger in your life.
