Kaitaia is a town in the Far North District of New Zealand, at the base of the Aupouri Peninsula, about 160 km northwest of Whangarei. It is the last major settlement on State Highway 1. Ahipara Bay, the southern end of Ninety Mile Beach, is 5 km west.

Booked a celebratory birthday dinner and had requested a quiet table if possible. We were seated away from the hustle and bustle by the window. The food was exceptional and the service was friendly and helpful. And the wait staff even sang 'happy birthday' much to my wife's delight. A great restaurant with well prepared and tasty food and wonderful wait staff.

Bushmans was about the only place open when we were looking for a late dinner, and we are so glad for that.
They seated our party of 8 with a smile and helped us order.
The food was delicious and came in reasonable time.
If we were in Kaitaia again, we’d return.

This restaurant has been recently renovated and its decor is well in keeping with its theme. Most appealing. Spacious and can seat large groups. The owner very friendly, great P.R. and very helpful.. The meal was absolutely amazing. Beautifully cooked . Four dishes among five of us for lunch and more than enough. Thoroughly recommend and will return.

Stayed in Ahipara on 5/08/16, booked a table in the restaurant for that evening. Myself and my daughter and her 6 month old baby arrived at the restaurant, the staff member who greeted us was anything but friendly, she double checked to see if we actually had a reservation then reluctantly agreed we had. Despite the coldness of the staff and their attitude the food was excellent.

This unassuming restaurant produces Thai Food of a very high caliber. They are balanced with their sugars (no overdependence on coconut sweetness, for instance) and their spicy options pack a flavorful punch. Noodle dishes arrive at the perfect texture (no overcooking), the beef salad is succulent and juicy, offset by the right amount of tartness and crunch. Generous portion sizes are worth the price.
Also, for cooks, they stock a small but useful collection of Thai ingredients (curry pastes, f/x) by the cash register.

This is a great place to go -- just for one of their great coffees, or with just a snack, or for a full meal. All great and doesn't disappoint -- I've been here many, as I used to work in Kaitaia and it was my place -- to go alone or meet up with friends and/or work colleagues.
Service is very good (the 'senior' waitress is just lovely, a pleasure to talk to and very efficient). I have only downgraded Birdies to Very Good because of the ambiance --
the outside patio is nice although it looks on to a parking lot it is quite sunny; but inside is fairly stark, not enough on the walls to even dampen a a bit of a echo and the high ceiling doesn't 'seem' right for a cafe.

Karikari Estate is New Zealand's northernmost Vineyard and winery. Nestled on Northland's stunning Karikari Peninsula, the vineyard looks over the rolling coastal land of Carrington Farms, towards the top of the far north of New Zealand. Whether it's a tasting, a meal, or a weekend experience, Karikari Estate Vineyard and Winery is a whole new experience to savour and enjoy. Please note, that unfortunately pets are not allowed at the winery cafe.
We arrived over New Year without a booking and the waiting staff were very kind to find us a place. Service and food were superb but the view is my lasting memory. I sent photos to friends overseas so say 'look what we've got here' in little old New Zealand. We're a lucky country and it's places like Karikari that make it that way.
