If you want to meet other backpackers from all over the world this the place to go. You can bet yhat you get the same food & drinks as in L.A., London, Montreal or Zurich - and at the same price.
The management makes a very clear statement that locals are not welcome - the prices are shown in USD on the menu.
If you want to pay in local currency a table calculator is used to calculate thr second digit of the price!
I wonder why you should order a simple batido en agua priced 2 USD (ice content 70 %) if you get the same drink around the corner for 20 Cordoba.
I also wonder why some people want to visit Ometepe only to order iced capuccino.

This is a great place to have good food and enjoy the beautiful views around. We had the grilled fish with rice and plantains. It was delicious. We also had a refreshing freshly squeezed orange juice. Nice staff. Great value for money.

Cafe Campestre prepares fresh food daily using organic ingredients many of which are from our farm. We are passionate about food and have created a varied and interesting menu featuring local and international cuisines. We have great local coffee, a relaxed environment, Wifi and some of the most interesting and innovative English language tours on Ometepe.
Had a very nice lunch here. Passion fruit juice - fresh thick and pure. Garden salad of ultra fresh greens. I wouldn’t doubt they went out to pick them especially for us.
We had the specialty: fettuccine with chicken - freshly made noodles, perfectly done.
Slow food done well. One of our mates got a hamburger. It looked and smelled great and since there was nothing left on his plate, I concluded that it was delicious too

Nestled on the shore of Lake Nicaragua, Comedor Jackeling is dirt floors, dim light bulbs, and rattling tin roof with palm fronds. If you're coming here for the ambiance, no. Just no.
Santa Domingo has a cluster of restaurants but this one is the gem. The portions are enormous, the food is well prepared, the national beer is cheap and cold, the view of the lack is amazing, and the bathrooms are clean.
You can get out of here with beers for 200 to 250 Cordoba per person, depending on what you order and how much you drink. Two-hundred Cordoba is about $6, for a huge dinner, and a couple of cold ones.
One word of advice. Ometepe is pretty underdeveloped as an island, even by Nicaraguan standards. If you are staying past Santa Cruz on the Maderas side of the island where all the roads are dirt, I would not drive, motorbike or bike after dark unless you are very familiar with the area and a competent driver/rider. It isn't a crime issue, it's a safety issue due to the road conditions south of Santa Cruz.

After a rough stay at El Zopilote and our friend at Little Morgans - we were all seeking somewhere with more creature comforts. los Cocos is a very different experience - with showers attached to your room and non-wooden facilities.
We were unfortunate enough to be on Ometepe during Storm Nate, which meant our first floor room flooded. The power went out and we spent a whole day trapped here. We basically didn't leave the hotel (there was a group of 8 of us in the end) and all of us had all three meals there which meant we had most stuff on the menu by the time we left. The food is highly recommended, the grilled fish and any of their dishes with fries particularly so. The owner pulled his generator out so we still had a bit of light at night time and he had no problems making calls with his mobile to see what was going on with ferrys etc. as well as for calling us taxis. I would recommend initially for food but $10 a night to stay is also a fair rate for the area.

El Pital Chocolate Paradise is one of the most magical places in Ometepe. Located almost directly in the middle of this infinity shaped island. It's on a beautiful bay with a magical atmosphere, making it the ideal place to create our chocolate factory. We strive to create the most delicious chocolate in the world, infusing each chocolate with love and intention. El Pital creates positive, happy vibes and spreads them to the rest of the world with appreciation and love to Nature. Our superfoods magic bar offers smoothies and vegan ice-cream with our homemade ingredients, such as cashew and peanut butter, tahini, fruit jams, raw cacao, and our special raw chocolate sauce. We just opened a brand new 2-story Jungle Beach Hostel. We also host cacao ceremonies, yoga classes, ecstatic dance, and meditation in our Yoga Temple. Please help us to share this beautiful project with the world. Lots of love, El Pital Family
It was the best chocolate experience ever. A must do on your trip if you like chocolate. We were high on chocolate for the rest of the day!

My husband and I visited as we were in need of supper and Internet. We had the bruschetta with cheese as an appetizer, it was more like tomatoe on toast with melted cheese on top. For an entre I had the vegetarian pasta (penne) and it was pretty good considering this is Nicaragua and on the island, it could have used a little more umph! My husband had a beef dish which he enjoyed very much.

I had just returned from a grueling hike to the summit of the Concepcion Volcano and I was starving. One of the members of our group had had dinner there the night before, so I decided to give Mar Dulce a shot.
Service is friendly and with a smile, both in Spanish and English.
Went for the filet mignon beef skewer with vegetables, rice, fries, and rice, for onle 250C$. Portions are huge, so for that mount it can only be considered a steal! The food was absolutely delicious and I made short work of my dinner. Washed it down with a beer and then had a smoothie for dessert. All in all, for only 320C$, which is only a little over 11$!
I checked the plates of the other customers and they were pretty big as well. Mar Dulce just might be the best value in town!
You can definitely find cheaper, true. But not better, not at this price range.
Thinking of going back tonight!

Our restaurant offers freshly made and nutritionally balanced meals using organic and locally sourced produce. Our portions are generous and motto is quality and taste! We also have a great wine list to compliment your meal.
The restaurant had some delicious options including lots of fresh fish which my husband loved. I ordered hummus, which they had just run out of, so they made more fresh. Nice Seating inside and out.
