This compact Scottish city is perfect for exploration by foot — travelers can easily find their way from the lovely River Ness to historic Inverness Castle and St. Andrews Cathedral, and beyond to the events at Eden Court and the busy Victorian Market. It’s also an ideal base for exploring the Highlands, with the mysterious Loch Ness (and famed local resident Nessie), Culloden Battlefield and the Bronze Age Clava Cairns just a quick drive away.

Since it opened in 2002, Rocpool Restaurant ha become an effervescent Inverness brasserie with a loyal fan base. A cool contemporary decor with lots of bare wood and bold colours give a buzzy vibe to the restaurant which is situated in a prime site on the banks of the River Ness. The kitchen has a repotoire of eclectic modern dishes which use Scotland's matchless produce sprinkled with Mediterranean Sunshine, plus a pinch of exotic spice here and there.
This is the second time we have been there and both times left completely overjoyed. The food was amazing and could probably be one of the nicest meals I have ever had. The scallops with chorizo, and the pork belly were both amazing. Main courses consisted of venison, and the turbot with smoked fish risotto. Both were absolutely delicious (especially the turbot). The service was spot on. Very friendly staff. Slightly more expensive maybe than most other places but definitely worth the money. Can’t wait to go back.

Excellent food, fine service and best of all generous portions. Though the paintwork looks tired the restaurant looks nice decorated in large mirrors and numerous Jack Vettriano pictures.
We had the Scottish tapas which were a nice tasty bite. We ate here after the half Marathon and couldn’t have stomached a pudding nor a proper starter!
We had carbonara and steak n ale pie from day menu (very generous considering it was almost 5pm) rump steak and a fish pasta dish from the special board. All our meals were very tasty, well cooked and hugely generous portions.
Dinner for four: £77

Open since 1995, the simple cooking and warm, friendly atmosphere has allowed The Mustard Seed to become one of Inverness’s favourite restaurants. The Location on the banks of the River Ness in a converted church building is simply stunning and helps create the wonderful ambience. The transformation from disused church to restaurant created a unique space; with a double-height ceiling and magnificent open log fire. Many of the original period features were retained and combined with a mix of natural and modern finishes. The addition of the Terrace on the top floor allows alfresco dining and uninterrupted views of the River, another amazing asset for the restaurant.
Went for the early bird dinner. Great choice. My black pudding starter was moreish and steak main course was also delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive. Wine was reasonably priced. The fact it was packed on a Monday night in March is testament to its popularity and quality

We are a small family run restaurant along the River Ness. We are a family team with over 12 years experience in the hospitality trade. Our restaurant reflects our passion for excellent Scottish fayre. We offer lunches, high teas, early evening and a la carte meals with a selection to suit all tastes.
Eat here many times. Sorry to hear that the young chef/owner has recently been diagnosed with cancer. I know that your family and community are supporting you all. For those who were inconvenienced while this was happening and felt it necessary to mouth off SHAME ON YOU. Bet you're the sort that would have been the first in the lifeboats on the titanic. Family, take care you're in my prayers.

Monday night visit with my son, friendly welcome and superb food.
Starters were nice but the meat sharing platter was out of this world, tender lamb and chicken with great veg and fluffy rice all served with a great chilli sauce.
Great food combined with reasonable prices and a charming host made this a great experience.

For an authentic taste of Scotlands Islands and Highlands look no further than River House, a beautiful restaurant on the banks of the River Ness overlooking the Grieg Street bridge to the Free North Church. The restaurants spectacular views are complemented by the casual sophistication of the dining room, a comfortable and unpretentious space with timeless design and a warm, cosy atmosphere which invites you to relax and really enjoy your dinner. Dedicated to sourcing the best possible ingredients from the surrounding areas, the River House kitchen cooks each dish to order in the open plan kitchen, using fresh, seasonal produce prepared in such a way that individual flavours shine through. Though mainly Scottish in heritage the River Houses recipes also take inspiration from international cuisine with, in particular, a nod to French cookery woven in to many of the creative, modern dishes. Wines are carefully selected to complement the River House menu, providing a good, but not overwhelming, choice of labels.
Came for a family celebration meal. The food was brilliant, I could happily have chosen everything on the menu, we all ate different dishes and they were all fantastic. the service was very friendly and the cranachan martini was so amazing I had two.

Delivering high quality, freshly prepared food and freshly roasted coffee, Cafe Artysans is an innovative social Enterprise. Whilst delivering a high quality product, Cafe Artysans is helping young people throughout the area to develop the skills required for successful onward progression into sustainable work or vocational training.
I have gone to Cafe Artysans since it opened several years ago. Whether it is having something to eat or drink when in town with my husband or meeting up with friends; it is definitely my cafe of choice.
A well run social Enterprise, it's young people are a credit. It exudes friendliness and there is a welcome for everyone whether you are an Inverness local like me, tourists to the city or travellers passing through the nearby bus or train stations.
Ideal for an excellent coffee (and of course the lovely cake!), breakfast, soup and Sandwich or more substantial lunch. Menu is varied and portions are generous. Their 'deals' are especially good value.
Well worth a visit.

Booked a table here prior to seeing a show at Eden Court.I booked in advance giving us just under 2 hours from being seated to the show starting. We arrived on time and the place was full, clearly popular on an evening as we'd only been once before for Sunday lunch and it was excellent. There was only two girls serving drinks, taking orders etc so not sure if the problem was in the kitchen or the lack of help front of house, however we were at the stage of walking out when our food was served,50 minutes after arriving.Thank goodness we opted only for main courses as we'd never have had time if we'd ordered starters too,we gulped our food down as time was against us.Such a pity as we'd hoped for a leisurely dinner and walk to the show, but we had to practically run to be there on time. One lady not far from us asked the waitress twice where their order was and they were in before us ! We will go back, but would make sure we had ample time, they need to be better prepared for a weekend especially when there's something on in town. The food was good, but not worth waiting 50 minutes for.
