This small renowned restaurant has been a part of Ilkley since the early sixties. Now owned by husband and wife team Simon and Rena Gueller, the Box Tree continues to aim to be the best. The modern French classical menu and extensive wine cellar offer food lovers an unforgettable experience. Simon's commitment to the best, freshest ingredients, with an emphasis on locally sourced, fresh ingredients from farmers and other suppliers, will entice food lovers with favourites such as Roast Sea Scallops, Celeriac Puree, White Truffle Oil and one of our impressive signature Souffles The Box Tree represents a combination between 21st century efficiency and exquisite good taste. Whilst the kitchen boasts the latest equipment, the restaurant features a collection of art and antiques which define the style and luxury for which the Box Tree is famed.
Moving house was my suggestion during the journey home today after our second excellent Sunday lunch of 2018. This excellent restaurant is too close. Sunday lunch could become a regular event.
Sunday lunch is an event. Excellent service by knowledgeable efficient staff. All food so tasty especially our Turbot main course and of course our Rum and Armagnac Soufflé.
Moving house is not on the cards after a new kitchen installation so we will just have to keep visiting this excellent restaurant.

As regular Aussie visitors who are now a bit beyond the "C"s -castles, cathedrals, churches and cottages - we are always on the lookout for "experiences." A chap in a little village in south Cumbria told us about Betty's Tea-room in Ilkley in west Yorkshire. So off we went.
What a lovely experience. Old-style tea-room, with superb cakes, biscuits and breads. Friendly and chatty staff, great lunch menu, and we can understand why there is often a queue!!! A traffic experience.

A casual cafe/restaurant feel, strangely lacking Vietnamese styling and food triggers like special boards.
The fragrant pork and lettuce starter was a highlight, the steamed dim sum also very good.
The mains not quite so good. The pancake filling was too oily, altough the lovely dip compensated somewhat. The red curry was a little gloopy but decent.
Service was charming.
Would definitely visit again.

Small restaurant, only 7 tables. Individual menu with each item individually described by the waiter. Wonderful food, excellent friendly staff. Great atmosphere.
A return visit to this fabulous restaurant, absolutely delicious food, extremely pleasant staff and the surroundings are a delight. It's like being back in Venice at one of the little restaurants near the grand canal. We all had pasta dishes from the specials menu and all were superb. The staff go above and beyond they are extremely helpful. A very nice experience and I can't wait to return.

Booked on Saturday and when we arrived we were seated on a table surrounded by coats ,not pleasant so we asked to be relocated which they said could be arranged if we were prepared to wait 30 minutes.so we had drinks next door while waiting.the manageress came to bar when our table was available and our waiter Matt came over to take our orders.
When our starters came they brought a salmon starter by mistake rather than the mushroom and goats cheese but it was quickly replaced and enjoyed!the mains were a mix of very good and ok the medallions of pork were excellent but duck rather tuff but when asked was Rectified.Matt and Kate were both attentive and efficient even on a Saturday evening rush and the manager very helpful a pity our evening go as smoothly as expected

Serving Freshly cooked vegetarian food and cakes including gluten & dairy free.Freshly ground coffee, loose leaf teas and fresh fruit smoothies. All served in beautiful surroundings within the spa town of Ilkley.
It was quite a cold morning and we decided to have breakfast prior to a walk on the moors rather than afterwards.
My husband’s preference was a more established eatery. I convinced him we needed a more health choice of food and I’m so glad my insistence paid off.
We both decided on the veggie breakfast aka “full English” and were so pleased we did.
What a selection of goodies, I believe there were eight different cooked items. It was hard to decide which was the best speciality. everything cooked and tasted perfect.
Also included in the price is a hot drink from the drink selection.
The two lovely ladies who served us were so pleasant and welcoming.
Looking forward to returning soon.

We are an Italian cafe with a touch of Yorkshire humour. A blend of lovely coffee, simple freshly made paninis, pastas and salads goes hand in hand with a warm atmosphere to make us what we are. Come see us! We love a chin wag and a brew!
I was meeting a pal and intended to go to the cafe next door but it was closed. So,venturing in to this small cafe,I was met with a multitude of happy young men, smiles all round and about the quickest service I have ever encountered.Chatty, friendly, the staff seemed to know many of the customers and by the time we left I felt like part of the family.I only had tea and a tea cake but I felt nourished in more ways than one...thank you

Went for breakfast on a whim. There is a good choice of food from simple today through to cooked English breakfast, smoked salmon with scrambled eggs etc. Was really struck by the quality of ingredients, disagree and bacon in particular which apparently come from the well known Sykes Farm near Wetherby. Good quality coffee with free refills and very friendly staff. Lovely experience on a cold winter's day.
