We ordered from this menu and was not disappointed. We shared delish dim sims. They were amazing. My husband ordered combination chow mein - he was very impressed. Excellent amount of meat with beautifully cooked veg. I had chicken curry - it's beautifully flavoured and loaded with chicken and veg. Recommend

We were reminded of this cafe by a friend, so we went for breakfast on our way up to Bowral. The cafe was wonderful, a tribute to the past and still in good nick. It's being run by a lovely Greek lady and her daughters, whose endeavours are noted. The food was exactly what we wanted, but we didn't bargain on the foul mouthed granddaughter having a hissyfit as we were eating. Everyone except her were embarrassed and if they don't watch out, that behaviour will cost them their business, as there's a cafe two doors down sniffing at their heels. I know what I would have done with that badly behaved little madam, and she wouldn't have liked it, but the crowd of elderly people would have cheered! Good luck is all I can say!

We went to this hotel looking for a traditional pub meal. The menu was just that. We both ordered the beer battered flathead. The salad was nice, the coleslaw was nice, but the chips were overcooked, and the fish......I don't know what to say. It was awful. It didn't seem to me that it was cooked fresh at all but battered, cooked, and then frozen. The batter was so weird. Not crispy at all which I expect in a batter, we couldn't taste the beer at all, and the fish was overcooked. So so disappointing.

The Criterion Hotel offers great meals Mon-Sat. Pizzas available Thurs-Sat. Al fresco dining available on the large deck at the rear of the hotel. Accommodation available. TAB, VIP lounge and regular entertainment.
In Gundagai for the night, Motel we were staying at restaurant was in repair mode, was recommended the Criterion. Beers on tap in small but friendly bar, great wall art, and a very comprehensive menu. I chose the Barramundi, huge serving as was all meals there. Food order/delivery time extremely reasonable and no complaints about quality or service of all staff.

We stopped here on the way to Canberra to have a fuel for car and snacks for us. There are not many choices, however Hungry Jacks was very clean and staff was very professional and friendly. We had Tendercrisp Classic burger, new Angus & Hash Brown meal and Nuggets & Chips Shack Box. By the way here is still old Hungry Jack system- when you order drinks, you get a paper cup and amount of drinks is unlimited, which is great in hot day.

Come and enjoy a deliriously cold beer whilst tantalising your taste buds with some of the best food in the Riverina cooked by owner/operater Aaron Grant. The Star also offers a large inviting beer garden with entertainment for adults and children alike with a pool table, foozeball and recent and oldschool jukebox. We offer regular live entertainment and an area renowned Supper Club in the restaurant. Come in and enjoy our hospitality. Until we have the pleasure to serve you again, safe travels! After missing this restaurant in the Star Hotel while they were doing renovations last trip, we were very happy with the experience this time and would recommend it. Small, focused menu, mostly pub-style, which is obvious really. We liked the lack of appetisers and desserts on the menu, as focus again was the best feature. Steak was excellent, and cooked as ordered. For the Star management, the lady at the bar is a huge asset to the Star, and showed both attention to detail and friendliness. Not so sure about your cleaners, as we had to remove a large dead fly from the window-sill next to our table.
Travellers, please don't be put off by the last point - best pub-meal in town!

My wife and I went to Poets on recommendation form another motel. What a delightful evening with the beautiful paintings of 19C poets in the bar area and the welcoming wood fire. Just the ambiance on a wet July evening. We had the beef pie...MoreThank you Colin for your positive review and we look forward to seeing you again when next visiting Gundagai.

Heard some good things about the Bakehouse but the day we visited it was just awful.
The staff didn't seem interested in the customers and from the hot meals on offer there were several pies ( lukewarm at best) and none of the optional extras ( mushy peas, mashed potato, gravey) were available, nor was the lunch special soup and bread roll...and this was peak lunchtime on a Saturday.
There were a limited selection of cakes but Fter the pie experience we walked straight out
