We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful waiter who took the time to explain us the various dishes on the menu. At the entrance was a counter-full of beautiful looking tapas, too many to describe here.
We ordered several tapas, but the one that was outstanding was the morcilla, the best I have eaten in all of Spain. The next course was the oven-finished octopus. Tasty and so tender that you cut it with fork - spectacular. Followed by an assortment of fried Mediterranean very small fish, a bit longer than a normal index finger. I counted red mullet, sole, whiting and one or two other varieties. The fish had a nice crispy skin but the inside was perfect. The last dish was fried calamari - fresh and perfectly fried. During the meal some free tapas were brought to the table by the very jovial chef (we were sitting downstairs close to the kitchen door.) The desert, I did not try, but my girlfriend did not say a word as she devoured hers and had a big smile on her face when she finished it.
One interesting thing happened. I am still not very familiar with Spanish wines, so I asked the waiter to bring me a good bottle of dry, somewhat fruity white wine. I forgot to give him a price range, and it was only after I tasted the wine that I realized my omission. The wine was fantastic and perfect with the meal. I was stunned to see that it only cost 12 euros for the bottle (one of the least expensive on the list.) I was dealing with honest people who could have taken advantage of my request. Will definitely return. The two-hour drive will be worthwhile.

We did arrive a little late due to flight delayed. We got here at 10. 45 and were told kitchen was closed and could not even do us a burger.
We were not impressed.

Great food & service, do deals with free wine, need to show more restaurants in Gran Alacant to help other travellers
As it was very heavy rain my son went up to steak house for a takeaway. Never had a worse meal in my 65 yrs. Order incorrect so we sorted that, then we came to eat it. 3 T bone steaks dry and tuff and totally inedible. 3 filletts steaks ask for as medium well done, one was a rib eye NOT filletts and as all the family in the trade i know my cuts of meat. One came bright red and bloody almost blue steak. Rib eye dry. Chips dry and tastless. On complaining that this meal was inedible and cost over 140 euro we where given the 10 euro tip back and replaced 2 filletts. Which my son had to have cooked twice under his supervision or these would have been the same. Do youself a favore and save money and go to The Belfry or Darby chippy at least you will be able to eat it.

This place serves you a perfect steak every time! I've had different steaks as well as other things, including seafood, and it is all good (maybe not the tuna carpaccio). The place is easy to find and close to the Carabassi Beach in Gran Alacant.

We ate last night, desperate to eat fresh fish in Santa Pola.
Friends of owners apartment recommended.
Excellant choice, we had the mixed grilled fish platter for two @€35. Cooked lightly by experienced female chefs in the kitchen.
The waiter was trying desperately for us to have a starter first as is normal he said. Not if you don't want one though!!
We decided to have a red wine, served chilled here, but though was a Crianza was dry.
Definitely recommend for good fish, we will go back again next week.

We went to the Azafran Indian to enjoy their all day Sunday Buffet but we were most disappointed. The place was almost empty throughout our meal and we suspect with good reason. The toilets were dirty with soiled papers all over the floor. This was pointed out to staff but no action was taken. The buffet food was self service from a number of metal containers which were being constantly heated by burners underneath them. The containers were being topped up as the contents were being used, so the fresh food was mixed in with the food that had remained in the containers for several hours. This practise is being phased out in most UK Asian restaurants due to food hygiene and quality issues. There were more staff in the restaurant than customers and most of them were spending their time on iPhones rather than improving customer experience. Food was warm and mediocre but cheap. Maybe it is better when you choose from the menu, if other reviews are an indicator. Avoid the all day Sunday buffet.

We ordered vegetarian food and the restaurant were happy to alter ingredients to leave out fish, egg and meat. We ordered tofu with vegetables, rice noodles with vegetales and rice and Sangria to drink. It was all really good and plentiful. They gave us pistachios to start and melon to finish with a shot of brandy-All of this came gratis. Our bill was just over 19 Euros. Really good value for a nice setting and very good food.

We went to 'La Paletta' on October 27th and were treated to excellent food served by attentive and friendly staff, who even remembered our names from dining in another restaurant!
It is a relatively small restaurant, with the option of Seating on an outside Terrace facing the square. We had booked and had to wait a while for a table inside..no hardship as the house red was excellent. The baked prawn starter, the ribeye steaks and the prawn tagliatelle were all superbly cooked and well presented. The 'recycled theme' adds interest and originality to the place. The atmosphere is lively and makes for a great evening and we would strongly recommend a visit...but make sure you book. Brilliant!
