Goma is the capital city of North Kivu province in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is located on the northern shore of Lake Kivu, next to the Rwandan city of Gisenyi. The lake and the two cities are in the Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift system. Goma lies only 13 to 18 km due south of the crater of the active Nyiragongo Volcano. The recent history of Goma has been dominated by the volcano and the Rwandan Genocide of 1994, which in turn fuelled the First and Second Congo Wars. The aftermath of these events was still having effects on the city and its surroundings in 2010. The city was captured by rebels during the M23 rebellion in late 2012, but has since been retaken by government forces.

Everything is ridiculously expensive in Goma because of the military presence; while Salt and Pepper is more pricey than you might find in neighboring countries, it's a good value for the DRC, and the food is phenomenal. Great service, cold beer, and big portions - I loved it.

The chalet offer local and international food into a moderne cadre with an amzing garden and view on lake Kivu. Buffet every Sunday from 12h to 15h Buffet Pita or Lebanese every Wednesday before Djo's Bar. Happy hour form 7PM to 8PM evry every Wednesday.
I'm really awed with the view of this restaurant.
I feel like I'm in a Mediterranean rest house, so relaxing place.
We came on a Sunday when they have the lunch buffet.
They serve variety of good food and some cakes and fruits for dessert.
The tables and chairs outside where we sat is quite tight in space. They should expand the area for the tables/chairs.
It should be better also if there is a designated place for smoking customers.

We came here for Sunday brunch, which is served buffet style. You are not allowed to order a-la carte, which seems a little strange. But it's worth it of you want to come for the buffet. Big selection, good food, and right on the lake!

We had dinner on Saturday night and the food menu was limited. No vegetarian options. Service was very nice although the music was too loud for a dinner setting - but we probably showed up too late (around 9) when they were getting ready for a big party night. On the other hand it is a really nice bar / club with large mirrors by the dance floor for aficionados.

My prime informal clients are brought here to enjoy the environment as well as the fresh food.
I even had Humus here twice.
This time I had the Escalope beef with frits (fries) and salad. The fries were over-fried, but the Escalope was very good.
The Austrian couple preferred to sit in the gallery overlooking the passing by traffic of the Boulevard.
You can also find the ice cream vending machines and fresh juices.
Bakery items are top quality and are pretty expensive. But in Goma, you don't have much choices, other than another Lebanese restaurant who concentrates on pain (bread) mostly.

Probably the flashest looking restaurant in Goma at the moment and sure to be a hit especially as it is in the same building as Bon Pain. International style out of the box and nice if you want to think you might be somewhere else. Food and service are well done - little exp. There are more local style places around that aren't so swish and that serve all the European food. So if you want to escape for a few hours go here; check out elsewhere if you don't.

Acajou Resto Bar is well located overlooking Kivu lake. Great hide away to spend couple of hours and have good food.
There is an open air restaurant and you can sit outside. They have garden umbrellas if you need a shade.
You get the breeze from the lake and what place for brunch or lunch on weekend!

This place isn't the cheapest or the flashest of places but it consistently serves up well. Atmosphere is relaxed and service is fine. Food and brochettes are tasty. I just like the ambience of this place - so Goma
