Strandbad Pavilion Edam Restaurant-Terrace at the IJsselmeer With a beautifull view at the lake and the Harbour it is absolutly a great place to have lunc or dinner. Or just have a relaxing time with a drink at the waterside. Even when the sun doesn't shine, great vieuw at the wind/kite surfers! Delicious fresh meat and fish dishes on the menu Fair prices! On the campground opportunities for swimming and a playground , also in the restaurant a small play area. Ideal for children!
Restaurant has since last year new owners. The service and the restaurant is now a lot better. With the last owner it couldn't be worse :-(
Still the menu is very simple. The service is not bad but also not very flexible. So for the food you don't have to come but situated at the IJsselmeer lake its absolute an advice to vist it. It's also posible to take an drink.

We love Greek food and also think it important that in addition to the quality of the food that the people are just as nice as in Greece. Kriti is a restaurant that really give that Greek feeling. The food is good and affordable, the staff is super friendly and always cheerful and humorous. You feel that this restaurant has a heart and soul, because if you walk in you are just in a different world. Erol, Ali Kerem, Teena always give you that warm feeling and are always ready for their guests. For us this is one of the best Greek restaurants in the region.

Don’t bother wasting your time and energy here particularly if you are only in Volendam for a short period. The restaurant was only around 40% full yet the staff took far too long to order our food and didn’t acknowledge us. When we ordered the food, we then waited 40 minutes!!! Ridiculous considering the restaurant was not at all busy. We needed to leave and as soon as we stood up, they bought the food out. The food itself was less than average. Because of this we didn’t get time to explore Volendam. Wouldn’t recommend.

This review needs some explanation, because my overall rating is still average. Stay tuned...
Location
This restaurant is situated right of the N247 road from Hoorn to Amsterdam. The bus station is right across the street, which makes this restaurant an ideal location.
Food
The food is really good. We stayed for lunch and it was really well made. The best part was that the prices asked for this were reasonable. I would expect much higher prices and was enthusiastic that this place was not driven by price.
Atmoshpere
The outside and inside are well decorated. The chairs are comfortable. Nevertheless, we were directed to a part of the restaurant that was more for Reading, chatting, etc. The table was a large table with newspapers and magazines on it. It was not the typical 'eating out' / having lunch style. It was unclear to me as to what their reasoning was. I openly discussed this situation with my wife, upon which the waitress commented: "Sir, if you don't appreciate what we offer, please feel free to leave.". You might want to draw your own conclusions from this. Eventually my wife was happy enough and we decided to have lunch anyways. The food was worth it... the remarks and the setting was not.
Wrapping up lunch
Payment was made easily and swiftly. It looked like the waitress felt somewhat silly over what she did on arrival, but did make any further comment
In conclusion
Food wise and price wise I would recommend this location to you. When it comes to atmosphere and especially the setting that we were offered, I would try to find something else.

I really liked this place. Simple and pretty authentic. It's also extremely reasonably priced.
The menu is good, in fact some Americans at the next table asked the beef could be be left out of their tagliatell with beef tenderloin (?) the waitress merely asked if there was anything else they would prefer as a substitute for the meat! I was most impressed. All our dishes were terrific, the vegetarian calzone my mother-in-law ordered being particularly good.
Due to an unexpected heavy rain shower we had to move from the Terrace indoors. This was accomplished efficiently and with a minimum of fuss. Full marks for that too.
The restaurant is connected to a bruin cafe, Cafe de Gevangenpoort, also a nice place for an afternoon or evening drink.
We'll definitely return if we're in the area, apart from anything else I want to try the rest of the menu.

Cozy restaurant in the centre of Edam. All things in the restaurant are for sale, even the chairs and tables.
After walking all over Edam we had chosen this place due to the fabulous eclectic window displays we had seen on our journey and upon entering hours after we still enjoyed the eclectic decor inside.
Staff very friendly drinks were cold but I ordered the "Irish beef" hamburger and yes I think it was a joke but I was not laughing. Definitely a frozen very thin patty 2 very small pieces of tomato and a sad piece of lettuce. The roll was too crunchy on the outside from being in the oven too long. €12.95 not worth it even with the chips. Hubby asked for the Edam with dark till ended up with a white baguette instead and 2 pieces of Edam a little tomato and lettuce he said enough to taste €8. High prices for what was served.keep it fresh like the staff. Rhabks

Restaurant Posthoorn, part of Suitehotel Posthoorn is located in two beautifully restored buildings from the 17th century. Upon entering you will experience the richness of the Golden Age, and you can feel the influence of prominent guests of yesteryear. Guests such as Queen Juliana, Admiral Dirksz, and Napoleon Bonaparte, stayed in the distant past in the Posthoorn. In our restaurant you can dine exclusively in a modern classic style environment with international allure. You will feel comfortable with the hospitality and informal service, led by Patron Marc Boeljon. The finest wines compiled by sommelier and maitre first Edwin van Egmond, effortlessly combine with the changing weekly menus, as well as the a la carte dishes. Since 2008, the restaurant Posthoorn is rewarded with a Michelin star from Guide Michelin. Our restaurant is adjacent to a beautiful veranda and monumental garden with 50 seats. Here summers in appropriate weather conditions to enjoy an aperitif and then dinner.
We ate at The Posthoorn and enjoyed its fabulous tasting menu. Every course brought oohs and aahs of appreciation as each new combination of taste, texture and flavour arrived. Service was solicitous but far from po-faced or overly serious. The sum total of all our...MoreThxsssss..!! hope to have you as our guests again.... and don't forget that we also have a beautiful Boutique hotel .... kr Marc

The restaurant is an excellent choice to eat when vising the beautiful city of Edam. After walking to the narrow streets and Canals of the city, Dam is waiting for you with great comfort food. The place atmosphere is serious and food is great!

You are welcome 7 days a week from 11am in the morning for coffee with homemade pastries, a surprising lunch, a cocktail or a good glass of wine. From 5pm for dinner, with next to the well-known 5-course Secret Menu also a wide and attractive choice from our à la carte menu with dishes in the format appetizer. Come see and especially taste and experience!
We were so impressed with our evening at this wonderful place, that we went back again for our second night in Edam. Henk and his staff explained the "secret" menu to us, which we were delighted with. We had the meat option on the first night and i went for the fish the second night. The atmosphere/service was first class on both evenings, and the food was both immaginative and delicious. We left feeling full and satisfied. We will definately return on our next visit to this area. Thanks guys for two memorable evenings.John and Alex xx
