Dún Laoghaire (Irish pronunciation: [d̪ˠuːn̪ˠ ˈɫeːrʲə]) is a suburban coastal town in County Dublin, Ireland, about 12 km (7.5 miles) south of Dublin city centre. It is the county town of the Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown district. Formerly a major port of entry from Great Britain, it was known as Dunleary until 1821 when it was renamed Kingstown in honour of King George IV's visit that year, and in 1920 was given its present name, the original Irish form of Dunleary.

WINNER OF DUBLIN'S BEST GASTRO PUB 2013 - IRISH RESTAURANT AWARDSThe Purty Kitchen re-opened it's doors under new ownership in October of 2012. The Purty Kitchen is south Dublin’s newest gastropub serving a wide variety of fresh fish and pub classics with flair. Every dish has been created to show off seasonal food at it’s best and we have used Irish produce wherever possible. We have tried to put a signature twist on all of our food. Take our burger for example. They are made in house with dry aged Irish beef from Kettyle meats. The cheese comes from 5 mile town creamery and then it’s all served on a Waterford blaa with a basket of skin-on rooster chips. Most of what we serve in the Purty Kitchen is made in the Purty Kitchen. Where there are exceptions to that, we have sourced things from other great Irish food producers like Boulaban Farm in Tipperary for our salted caramel ice cream, or Arbutus Bakery in Cork for delicious sourdough rye bread.
We went to a company night out (140 people) and had booked Purty Kitchen for the night. The atmosphere was nice but the food was truly boring. The bbq was burned to a black bitter crisp and was a strange mix of fish, beef and seafood. Very odd experience and can not be recommended for larger groups.

Visited Cavistons for lunch last week. They do a great set menu for €21 for 2 courses. We had sardines, followed by cod and haddock. All beautifully cooked and presented. Dessert was a shared chocolate and raspberry brownie (delicious!!). Will have to return to try their dinner menu. Lovely cosy restaurant with nice friendly staff.

Ate here during the lobster festival in Dalkey and had the Lobster Spaghetti. It was the best I have ever eaten and was absolutely delicious. Service was good. Only reason there is not five stars here is that the restaurant needs a bit of a facelift. It seems dated and less than appealing when you walk in. A little aesthetic investment would really turn this place around!

Visited Ouzos for first time on recommendation of family. As party of 4 we opted for earlybird menu. Some supplements apply to main courses but they seemed reasonable. All main dishes were very good- hake, fish and chips and burger ordered and enjoyed. Service was attentive and friendly. Only "issue" is when seated anywhere near main door- a cold wind blows through the restaurant every time main door opens. On a cold winters night it was an irritant. Will certainly revisit based on quality of food and service.

Rasam Restaurant excels at serving consistent quality food served in a creative but authentic Indian style. We pride ourselves on our fresh ingredients including Indian spices that are mixed, roasted & ground daily at Rasam Restaurant. We very much consider hospitality to be much more than just a social formality. Visit us and enjoy the dishes we present with great pride.
We went for an early bird on 5th December. Rasam has such a reputation that I was looking forward to the experience. I don’t know exactly what I was looking for but I couldn’t understand what the hype was about . Our local Indian restaurant is as good without the hype.In fact there are many Indian restaurants in Ireland just as good.
In saying that the food was very good but not extraordinary.

A wonderful local treasure, with loyal clientele. Simple, quality food, fine dining at its best. I have been to this restaurant intermittently over nearly 30 years for a fun night out with a group of friends, for family occasions, and more intimate meals. This is the type of restaurant that I would like to know about if I was was visiting a city, with a wish to sample local cuisine and atmosphere.

Established in 1993, F.X. Buckley Monkstown is located in the heart of Monkstown Village near the coastal dart line between Black Rock and Dun Laoghaire. Open seven days a week, our neighbourhood steakhouse and bar is famous for our F.X. Buckley steaks, accompanied by the perfect selection of fine wines and drinks.
Probably one of the most complete meat menu in Dublin with six different cuts and four different weights per cut. The menu alsi present the Chateaubriandt, quite unusual even in steackhouses. Good service, nice place to stay with friends.

On another visit to Dun Laoghaire, had to pop into Hartley's again. It appears to have gained quite a following - very well dressed clientele, lovely ambience and the food looked amazing.
You receive a very warm greeting, which is always a good thing. The wine list is excellent, but the food was stunning. We booked a meal but unfortunately had to cancel as family had organised a gathering at their home - lovely - but I am definitely having dinner on the next visit. At the front, for warmer weather, is a beautiful outdoor area overlooking the harbour. This attracts families during the day and the beautiful and well-to-do in the evening, very elegant.
