Surf, dive, snorkel, beach comb, horseback ride, bicycle, or relax in a hammock in Dominical. Take a stress-relieving yoga class at Bamboo YogaPlay. Enjoy beach restaurants serving up everything from East Indian curries and Italian pastas and pizzas to local gallo pinto and shots of anise-infused sugarcane liquor. Savor lonely beaches populated by pelicans, frigate birds, brown boobies, and hardy surfers here for the waves and good beachfront food at reasonable prices. When you’ve caught up on your sleep and feel relaxed, take the family on a hike to the double-cascade waterfall at Nauyaca. Perhaps the family would be up for a horseback gallop on the beach, or a trot to a smaller waterfall like Pazo Azul, whose plunge pool is popular with local kids. There is always boogie boarding at Playa Dominicalito. Or beachcombing and dolphin-watching at Playa Dominical. Guided bird-watching, and mangrove estuary and rainforest tours are always educational. Charter a fishing boat. Catch and release big sailfish like marlin in the deep sea, or keep some tasty dinner fish like red snapper, yellowfin tuna, snook, wahoo, and dorado. In Marino Bellena National Park, humpback whales migrate south towards Dominical to escape the Arctic cold. December to April is the humpback whale mating season in Ballena (Whale) Marine National Park. May to November is the nesting season, when Olive Ridley and Hawksbill turtles do their nocturnal egg-laying on the beaches. Low tide beach combing walks can take you out to Punta Uvita Tombolo island. Snorkel, dive, and explore mangrove habitats. Or just sit with the family on the gold and white sands watching green marine iguanas sunbathe between dives into the rocks and corals to feed on marine algae.

Beach-front restaurants are few and far between around here. Tortilla Flats would still be a standout with heavy competition. The menu is extensive, the food is great, the beer is "bien frio" and the margaritas are excellent.

The staff and service was exceptional. The setting is gorgeous. We were able to see toucans and monkeys from our table. We just wished the food could have been better. Several of the dishes that we had were just so-so. We found tastier food in the area that was less expensive. During our stay, we ate breakfast daily, 1 lunch snack, and 1 dinner. The best thing we ate at the restaurant during our time there was the guacamole and tortilla chips at lunch. I think this restaurant would be wonderful for people who are gluten free, but if you are not gluten free, you will probably not be thrilled.

The best coffee grown and managed by a WOMEN! In a place where you usually only find instant coffee, a nice cup of coffee with breakfast or lunch or a hearty, healthy and delicious smoothie... any combo of fruit for the same price!!! Worth every penny!! Located right behind Domilocos!!
We were staying at the Tropical Sands across the street from this restaurant, and they recommended this place for either Breakfast or Dinner. Since it was later in the evening when we arrived, we decided to have dinner. I had a whole Red Fish and my wife had the Rice and Black Beans with chicken. Both were excellent, and whiile communicating proved challenging (we don't speak Spanish) we muddled through, and they kindly directed us to a website that had everything noted in English. Again, this is a rustic restaurant on a dirt road, but its clean, very reasonable priced, and more importantly, good. I would recommend to anyone staying in Dominical. By the way, we liked it so much that we went back the next morning, and had Brekfast (which was also excellent).

Within the Costa-Paraiso boutique hotel, just two km South of Dominical, Por Que No is one of the region's best dining experiences, with an ocean view. With 'tasty treats & funky beats', Por Que No is known for our great dinner specials, delicious wood-fired pizza, healthy smoothies and hit the spot coffees. For those that don't want to cook or need a packed lunch at the beach, check out our take out options.
We spent four days at Costa Paraiso and wish we had spent more. Part of what we enjoyed was having access to PorQueNo? Restaurant. We ate a number of meals there and enjoyed almost all of them. I agree with other reviews that the pizza crusts were under cooked, but every other dish was great. The meals were appropriately priced, and my boys especially enjoyed the smoothies. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We absolutely plan on returning!

This place is tucked up a steep road in Dominicalito, great for drinks before dinner out to watch the sunset as the ocean view from up there is fantastic. The wings are good and the burgers are great. Drinks may be a little watered down,...MoreHey guys thanks for the review. Drink not strong enough? Dining options are limited for a Sunday dinner in Dominical. So it is that we ventured into this Tico family-owned and operated "Soda" restaurant. The menu afforded several choices but most of us chose the fried chicken either with fries or with the rice, beans and potatoes combination. One of us chose the porkchop dinner. The fried chicken was battered and fried with a good flavor in the coating. Not too greasy and just crisp enough, this would be very good fried chicken anywhere. The french fries were cooked right, crispy and delicious. The pork chop was a little tough, not cooked incorrectly but probably not the best cut of pork. The salads, rice and potatoes were just fine. And the black beans were perfect. All in all a wonderful and filling dinner for a reasonable amount.

We were staying locally at Hotel Cuna del Angel and were keen to find alternative locations for dinner, and this place ticked the boxes, given the views to the sea on both sides. We checked it out during the day and were impressed so booked for just after sunset. We then arrived early and ordered a cocktail and beer which we took down the path to the sunset viewpoint. Here we watched the dozens of pelicans around the local fishing boats, and then flying off to roost in the trees as the sun went down. A fantastic sunset spot. We then headed inside for dinner with a view over the same bay, Dominicalito beach, although by that stage it was dark.
The menu provided a good selection of dishes with a focus on fish and seafood and I couldn't resist the lobster whilst Mrs Roundy had the chicken enchiladas. We also ordered fish ceviche as an appetiser but suddenly the mains appeared with no sign of the appetiser. However we didn't make an issue of this given the generous size of our main courses and thought best to get stuck in whilst the mains were freshly cooked. We both loved our dishes and the lobster turned out to be 3 halves so plenty of meat and good value.
The service overall was a bit glitchy - as well as the missing appetiser we struggled to get attention when trying to get the bill, but it was busy. They could have done with an extra member of staff.
Overall we had a nice experience and it's the best located restaurant we found in the area - worth the drive up the unmade track which isn't too onerous.

You have the hotel listed, but not the restaurant.
We had dinner here on our first night in Dominical. The location is amazing, with ocean views. The restaurant has a cool ambiance with murals on the walls and cool lighting. The service was great, we were the only patrons. I had pizza-delicious. Thin and crispy. My husband had the Chicken cordon blue, also delicious. We were kept company by the 2 resident dogs. Very well behaved, we enjoyed their company, although the staff would shoo them away if you didn't like them. Overall a wonderful evening. We will return.

The smoothies are all fruit and are the best ever. Great value, can get a little warm in the dining area, they need to repair their ceiling fans.....
