Derry (/ˈdɛri/), officially Londonderry (/ˈlʌndənˌdɛri/), is the second-largest city in Northern Ireland and the fourth-largest city on the island of Ireland. The name Derry is an anglicisation of the Old Irish name Daire (modern Irish: Doire) meaning "oak grove". In 1613, the city was granted a Royal Charter by King James I and gained the "London" prefix to reflect the funding of its construction by the London guilds. While the city is more usually known colloquially as Derry, Londonderry is also commonly used and remains the legal name.

Visited Fitzroy’s today and overall was extremely disappointed.
Our waitress was excellent in her service and understood that I was dairy free so swapped the side which was served with the dish I had ordered for a suitable alternative. However, the fact I was dairy free didn’t translate to the additional side dish. I realised when I was about to finish my meal that the boiled potatoes were covered in butter despite informing staff of my allergy. The manager came to the table and showed understanding and provided compensation for the meal recognising their fault. After eating our meals two of my party including myself ordered coffee. A simple request and order of an espresso and hazelnut latte. The other two ordered desserts. Due to my experience within the hospitality industry I know that coffee is a quick item to deliver to a table and it needs to be to ensure it’s served hot. Having to shot a cold espresso was the cherry on top of a meal that has ensured I won’t be returning should I visit again.

Enjoy the country hotel dining experience in the relaxing comfort of our informal bistro. Whether you want a light lunch, a midday carvery or a fabulous evening meal our bistro is perfect. Our popular carvery is served daily until 3:30pm but the bistro remains open with an extensive menu catering for all tastes. Why not sample our extensive wine list to compliment your meal. Just a short distance from the city centre we offer you perfect convenience, beautiful surroundings, great food and a service that is affordable and high quality. We are more than a hotel, The Belfray Country Inn has a reputation for its fine food and great atmosphere.
I was served small portion of roast Turkey as I don't eat pork/ham I thought the portion would have been a little more generous. There was a poor selection of vegetables, cabbage with ham, a mix of over cooked carrot and turnip, and marrowfat peas. Service at the counter was like being back at school fast and thrown on the plate the bistro was very quiet the time, my companions and I felt rushed. I used enjoy lunch at the Belfray but I think I'll pass next time.

Valentine's night is not always the best night to eat out, as restaurants often put on a lazy 'romantic' menu, but not Brown's.
Not a huge choice, but some of the usual Brown's favourites were on. However, what made it special was the porterhouse steak sharing main course with Cafe de Paris butter. It was marvellous.
Cheese board was a great mix of Irish cheeses and the service was great.
Already looking forward to our next visit.

At the suggestion of my friend, who is originally from Derry and an old friend of "Badger", eight of our group on tour stopped here for a few drinks and got a very warm welcome from "Badger". The next day several of us came back for lunch and the group was very pleased with the food, drinks and service in this very comfortable restaurant/bar.
We highly recommend Badger's Bar.

We are an award winning casual dinning restaurant serving good food at good prices in the heart of the waterside derry
The family booked into Sooty Olive on a Friday night and had a great time. The food was generally very good. A young male waiter recommended the squid which was excellent. I had the cod as a main which likewise was very good but the broccoli spears were tough and inedible. As a family we usually share and let everyone have a taste of our meals. I got none of my daughters salmon starter and only a little bit of her burger.
My wife's bruschetta starter was lovely but she said the he Thai curry main was the best she ever had. The only real down side was the prices and taste of the house wine we ordered.
The cheapest house wines cost around £17.50 a bottle. I tried the sauvignon blanc but didn't like it. The pinot grigio was a bit better but not much. The next price level was £24.00 approximately. It could have been me!
For such a good taste in food I was disappointed that the wines weren't so good.
The real highlight was the staff. They are so helpful and friendly its a delight. The young red haired girl and the tall waiter were especially excellent. When my wife went to leave a tip in the tip jar it was packed with 5 and 10 pound notes. That says it all. A wonderful night out.

Whenever we're in Derry, Warehouse No 1 is our go to place for breakfast, lunch or dinner (bistro on weekends). Simply stated, we love this place.
The food is consistently amazing. You can't go wrong with any of the baked goods, soups, and coffee. During our last visit, we ate at the Warehouse three times. Did I mention that we love this place?
The patrons are a mixture of locals and tourists. The space can fill up quickly, but service is prompt. The couches are comfy.

The Browns group newest addition to the restaurant scene sees Ian orr opening up in the heart of the Ciy of Culture 2013.Browns in town offers contemporary fine dine food in comfortable & fashionable surroundings.Well worth a visit!
My mother and I visited for lunch whilst shopping in Derry. I decided to write the review based on the starter I had which was one of the best I ever had. It was a squid dish. I have had squid many times but this was spectacular and depth of flavour in the sauce out of this world. I would go back here just for that. The service was fine but the place did lack a bit of atmosphere.
