Courmayeur is a town and comune in northern Italy, in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley. At an elevation of 1,224 m (4,016 ft) above sea level, it is located at the foot of the southern side of Mont Blanc, at 4,810 m (15,781 ft) the highest point in the Alps and western Europe (see Seven Summits), and is crossed by the Dora Baltea river. Courmayeur shares administration of Mont Blanc with its neighboring commune of Saint-Gervais-les-Bains in France, and is consequently able to claim the title of highest commune in Italy. Courmayeur also shares access to the glacial ski run of the Vallée Blanche with another French town, Chamonix, which sits at the opposite, northern, side of the Mont Blanc massif.

In winter, you have to reach it by foot, on a nice flat walking along a road normally open to cars in summer. You can eat polenta and other typical specialities: big portions and reasonable prices. Good service with a smile.
On the bar walls, old skis, chains taken back after a long permanece on the top of the Monte Bianco, pictures or Alpinists who passed by.

A perfect ski resort restaurant for me:
- atmospheric and smart enough to be memorable, but casual enough to wear jeans and a sweater
- interesting well presented food, but something for everyone. My son had foie gras followed by margarita pizza, followed by strudel!
- fair prices. We paid €40 per head for a 3 course dinner with a bottle of wine. Wine was really well priced. We were recommended a €30 Tuscan red which retails for £15 in the UK.
- the patron is very warm and charismatic, and the whole team are very friendly and efficient
Courmayeur was quiet (Monday night, in mid-season) but La Terrazza was full. So book!

Bacon, dried beef and chestnuts Gnocchi with fondue Humid with polenta or smooth Stew with mushrooms, sausage, carbonada, deer Homemade desserts House wine and coffee and other tasty dishes to choose We organize dinners and lunches, settled for events.
We'd hoped to have supper here but only lunch was available the day we were there. We were warmly welcomed by the friendly and efficient waitress despite the place being really busy. The local wine recommendation (Enfer) was spot on and the polenta was really tasty. The desserts were great too.
Would definitely return.

We have visited several resorts in the Italian alps, however, Lo Sciatore is probably the best restaurant ever visited. It’s located a bit ”off” in the Dolonne village of Courmayeur and has great service and very nice staff. We had the Tenderloin Beef and the Entrecote, and the meat was grilled to perfection. The Tortino Fondante was an excellent final.

Had an amazing meal at this family owned restaurant a few minutes outside of Courmayeur. The chef/owner Gianni was also my ski instructor during the week on the mountain and his cooking is as good as his skiing! We went here on the recommendation of Francheska who we met in chez ouillier (also very good) and the food and restaurant were fabulous. Lovely house wine, great scallops, spinach tart and veggie lasagne and apparently the meat was also superb. The staff were very welcoming and at the end of dinner put bottles of grappe etc on the table for us to help ourselves to? It was our best evening as a group and I heartily recommend it. Not cheap but well worth the money.

You cannot miss the best place in Courmayeur.
Service is excellent, atmosphere is magic, food is the best you can find in Courmayeur. Apetizer, meat (tagliata, cotoletta valdostana), dessert. Wine list will make you happy.
At night it’s easy to reach and it’s a unique experience. I will come back as many times as possible.

We went there for lunch 3 days in a row after skiing. The pizza is simply amazing and there are also great pasta dishes! Very friendly and casual atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable!

Great mountaineering base for the many climbs in the area, with a warm welcome from the fabulous team here.
Facilities are generally very good: excellent equipment room and great bar and dining areas.
Could not get over how friendly, accommodating, hard working and happy the staff are here, really adds something to the vibe of the place.
Slight downsides are the toilets and bedrooms could do with better ventilation!
