From the outside the restaurant doesnt look to be very endearing, but once inside you will be amazed by the authentic decor. Even better your taste buds will be blown away by the quality of the food served. We felt it was slightly expensive, but still enjoyed our meal.

A cosy and inviting Cafe/Restaurant adjacent to a wonderful farm shop, situated on a working farm along a private drive. Beautiful courtyard exterior with external dining in pleasant weather. Full waitress service by our warm and friendly staff. All food freshly produced using own and local produce. Fantastic farmhouse breakfast and Sunday lunches (booking recommended for Sunday lunch). Dietary needs catered for. Wheelchair access, baby changing facilities and high chairs/booster seats.
The food, service and staff were all great. I found a few weeks ago while out for a bike ride and enjoyed a very nice sausage roll, so decided to take my baby daughter back for lunch. The food is all freshly prepared and well presented. Like virtually everywhere, there is no real provision made for toddlers, only kids meals, which revolve around chips etc. Thankfully, they were able to make us a little scrambled egg on toast, which went down great.
The farm shop was great, the steak we bought was fantastic. Really glad I found this little place.

We go here regularly and the food is always good. Great drinks selection too with smoothies, fresh Joyce's, milkshakes and decent coffee. Also a good amount of vegan and gluten free options which is rare!

Midway between the bustle of Newcastle and the history of Durham, in the heart of the Derwent Valley, The Miners Arms in Medomsley is the perfect place to relax, catch up with friends and have a great night out. With a friendly bar, and a relaxing restaurant, there is something for everyone at The Miners Arms. Cosy, warm and welcoming the pub is popular with both locals and visitors to the Derwent Valley.Only 1.25miles from the Derwent Walk (Shotley Station or Ebchester Bank exits) and only 4miles from Chopwell woods, the pub is an ideal stop for hungry cyclists and walkers.Owned and run by Johan Steuckers and Paula Herdman, the Miners Arms offers a range of activities and events throughout the year, including a regular quiz night with complimentary buffet, live music and bar lunches.
This is a cosy, comfortable pub/ restaurant with a good atmosphere and a hearty, reasonably priced menu. Service is friendly. We both chose the TRIO of LAMB CHOPS, which came with potatoes, cabbage, broccoli, carrots and turnip. A generous helping and delicious. I can definitely recommend this restaurant. My only negative is that they used to serve interesting Continental items, but these seem to have disappeared from their menu. A shame! Otherwise very good.

Consistently rated 5 out of 5 stars by the Food Hygiene Standards Agency and the "Scores On The Doors" rating system, The Royal Oak is a friendly village pub at the heart of the community in Medomsley. Great food and a friendly atmosphere, we offer fantastic value for both drinks and food, with three different cask ales at any time, rotating regularly between national favourites and local brews. A delightful beer garden to the rear for those sunny days, the staff are always happy to help and give you a friendly smile! Quiz nights are Sunday nights at 8:45pm with cash prizes and free half time buffet.
Moved to Medomsley a couple of years ago and so would now describe this as my ‘local’. Tend to go for tea every couple of weeks and have not been disappointed once. There’s nothing fancy here, just really good traditional home cooked food and some very well kept local ales - the Tyneside Blonde is superb. And the staff are just amazing... don’t often get service anywhere close to as good as this. Highly recommended:)

A friendly, award winning coffee shop located in Blackhill, County Durham. All our cakes and bread are freshly baked on site.
2 Full English, anemic sausage that was cooked but only just ! Raw mushrooms that were hard to the core & black pudding that had hardy seen the inside of the pan, partial poached eggs that were half missing with hard yokes . Both meals were a right disappointment and only luke warm on arrival which also included the beans which were served in a side dish. At £7.50 each we expected more, the quality of the food is not in question just the standard of cooking leaves a lot to be desired
