The graceful setting, with rich, panelled walls and twinkling Waterford Crystal chandeliers bestows a grand sense of occasion. Our resident pianist plays softly in the background while you relax and enjoy exceptional dishes from the kitchen of acclaimed Chef Philippe Farineau, recently awarded two rosettes by the AA Hospitality Awards, combined with much loved recipes of Beatrice Tollman and complemented by a fine selection of wines from Chief Sommelier, Robert Bowe.
Very fine dining and lovely service. If you stay near or at Ashford Castle, definitely go. It's worth the visit.

Stumbled on this pub strictly by accident. I met a older gentleman in the lobby of the Fairhill House Hotel, located next door. We began chatting about our respective homelands (Ireland and the U.S.) and I asked his opinion of a good location for food as he had been visiting the area annually for the past half century. Without hesitation, he replied that Eddie the owner of Eddie's Pub nextdoor was the "best seafood chef in all of Ireland" and to ask for the seafood platter for two. (It is not on the menu). We went next door to the pub (we noted that many pubs in Ireland have excellent bar food) and had to ask the waiter to have Eddie make us this dish. We had to be somewhat persistent but the result was excellent. The platter was heaped with prawns, scallops, mussels, salmon, and chunks of fish on a bed of lettuce. Combined with a half bottle of white wine and our evening was complete. The pub can get crowded after 1800 so get there early. Skip the pizza which seems to have escaped the abilities of most irish pubs. (besides, there are often so many better choices) Regardless, other items on the pub menu are excellent and loaded with seafood. Pricing was reasonable if somewhat less than other pubs. There is also a more formal dining area in the back with "higher end" restaurant style dishes but no pub food. I was looking for a more authentic experience while in Ireland, so the pub worked great for us.

Burke's Clonbur is a Family run Bar & Restaurant in the beautiful village of Clonbur. Our Bar is Old World stepping back in time. The Dining room over looks the beautiful Country side of Joyce Country, Enjoy the sun set from our dining room. The Burke Family are in Mount Gable House since 1922.
This wonderful restaurant offers a variety of food, not only seafood. The lamb was out of this world! Healthy portions, friendly staff, good selection of beer and wine. Prices comparable to the states. When we left, the owner smiled, realizing we were from the states and said, "Keep to the left and mind the sheep!" I had to laugh because driving Co. Galway and Co. Mayo, (particulary in the Connemara region of western Ireland) along very narrow roadways one does indeed have to mind the sheep grazing along the roadsides.

This traditional thatched cottage provides a relaxed dining experience with a casual dress code in which to enjoy international and local dishes inspired by our owner Beatrice Tollman, including our delicious signature dish 'Chicken Peri Peri'. It is slow cooked in our rotisserie oven in the main dining area, so mouth-watering aromas greet you as soon as you enter the restaurant. At the front of the building you will now discover a beautifully manicured garden and extended patio area proving a spectacular area to enjoy lunch and sip a cocktail and enjoy the magnificent views of Ashford Castle in the distance. Open seasonally, it's just a short stroll over the bridge from the castle. Booking in advance is advisable to avoid disappointment.

We visited here on Saturday November 4th and were delighted to get a table just inside the door. Usually when I go to a cafe, I can usually pick one item that I'd like. I went up to the counter and each and every cake looked delicious. I just couldn't decide so I opted for two Deserts and talked my wife into having the other one I'd like!
We started with the "Snowball" - it was yummy and I thought I'd ate the best first. That was until I tried the chocolate cake, it was another level. Finally, a rosewater flavoured meringue with berry compote, home made lemon curd - it was incredible! The Meringue was soft in the centre, I licked the plate clean.
Great coffee, great staff, when I was asked if I wanted another desert I had to think long and hard before declining - I'm still sorry I didn't try the apple pie though. Congratulations to the best little cafe in Ireland!

Our hosts at lakeshore recommended this and flannerys in balinrobe but as this was en route to our Irish music venue in Cong we decided to come here. Very warm welcome to a quiet restaurant that slowly filled up. Food and service was excellent throughout and you could tell by the presentation, flavour and touches that the chef cared about what he was doing. Our french friend Pierre who is also a chef loved this place and praise from him is not easily won. My steak was perfectly cooked and the pavlova and fresh fruit was wonderful.

Can't believe we bought two beers and two G&Ts and were charged €30...
I could understand the outlandish cost if this was somewhere special, or a five star establishment, but it is neither. It is more like a run-of-the-mill and slightly rundown seaside resort hotel, so the extravagant charges were a bit of a shock.
There are alternative, and possibly more competitively priced, establishments in the village, but unfortunately we only found out (to our cost) the exorbitant prices after we'd ordered the drinks.

Wilde's Restaurant at The Lodge at Ashford Castle, serves fine contemporary Irish cuisine in a stunning setting, overlooking the waters of Lough Corrib. Executive Chef Jonathan Keane, creates dishes that showcase the unique flavours and textures of the finest local produce, from succulent Irish beef and lamb to fish and seafood fresh from the waters of Galway Bay and the Connemara coastline.
By far the best breakfast we have ever had in a hotel in Ireland.
They changed the room and service type from when we stayed last year and boy did it step things up ten-fold!
Everything cooked to perfection. The variety of fresh and healthy ingredients is superb. Quality excellent. Fresh and tasty local produce on display.
Wonderful experience.
