Such a lovely stop! Overlooking the river, this lovely Thai restaurant serves a great selection of dishes. Super fast wifi and great piña coladas!

Did not expect to run into a Mexican restaurant in Chiang Khong but we were pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious (especially the garlic bread and quesadillas! It took a while (1 hour) to get the food and compared to typical prices in the are it's expensive but it's definitely something else and worth it. Would come back!

On the main street directly in front of the Namkhong Riverside Guesthouse.
Furniture has seen better days, but staff are very welcoming and friendly . Go in twice and you feel a regular !.
Coffee and cold drinks and good; though I have not tried the small range of snack foods on offer. On the main road so no river views, but you can sit outside see what little commerce is happening in this small town

This restaurant in the "Teak Hotel" serves delicious Thai food. The portions are decent-sized and the price is very reasonable for a hotel. It is situated on a deck surrounded by lovely Gardens right alongside the Mekhong river. The waitress spoke good english and was helpful. We had an excellent Sai Ou (northern sausage, very meaty with herbs;) a tasty northern pork curry (slightly fatty), and good som tum. An unexpectedly good restaurant in such a small town.

Nang Nuan is a local resident of Chiang Khong and has earned herself a reputation by serving great Thai food. She is famous amongst the locals but also caters to big groups and just individuals that want to eat true authentic Thai food in a beautiful restaurant with awesome views of the might Mekong river.

Nice, friendly place in the centre of Chiang Khong, perfect for a cheap but tasty meal. Many popular mains are in and around 50B, so peanuts compared to many restaurant prices.
The staff are polite and helpful, and the service was second to none! Would recommend

A drawback is that The View cannot be reached without your own transport. The view is without doubt excellent....but The View is over rated
Service is poor...most staff have no English, cakes are shop bought and coffee is fairly ordinary, And it is expensive. I am glad I visited it but I shall not be rushing back; there is a free viewpoint with similar views just 2k towards Chiang Khong

For someone coming from Singapore, my family was very surprise to find a Hainanese Chicken Rice shop in the middle of Chiang Khong Town (there is another smaller shop run by an old lady at the end of the town near the Thai Navy Riverine HQ).
Usually, the test of a good chicken rice is to try out the breast meat. To my very surprise, the breast meat is as succulent and tender as the drumstick. This is very rare and takes a lot of hard work to prepare.
After talking to the owner, then I found out that the owner is a 2nd generation Hainanese from Wen Chang Province in Hainan Island. Wen Chang is also famous for its chicken rice.
It was truly a hearty meal that comforted the soul!!

7he Vow "A Taste of Love" -Freshly cooked, baked and brewed selections to make your day. -Clean food, Good taste, Great view -Our restaurant is located in Chiang Khong (Chiangrai, Thailand)
Happened to stay nearby and chanced upon this restaurant/cafe. Has really great ambience & food. Tried their lemon soda (real lemon juice), fried cheese wanton (really enjoyed this!) whilst my friends tried their coffee, mocca, green tea frappe and carbonara (was slightly dissapointing... the sauce was not that creamy)
All in all a great stop for food and a break, the dining area on the first floor has air conditioning!

It's a very pleasant, relaxing place. Nothing pretentious, just a nice atmosphere and friendly people. We had breakfast here, not just good coffee, but excellent tea, which is a rarity anywhere, good omelettes, fresh bread. We stayed longer than we intended, because it was so comfortable.
