We ate at the restaurant as a part of a surprise meal for a very good friend's birthday and his family. They say good food and good company make a good night - and that's exactly what we had.
From planning the meal in advance and Seating everything was done with us without an issues, so on the day it went very smoothly. Great help much appreciated.
The steak did has a bit too much sauce to be a classic but was cooked excellently, service was good and always smiling. You could pass by and think it was a seaside café - but it's not, it's a good restaurant.
My only niggles are the sauce and the tightness of space to get us all in. I may be being a bit pedantic but as it's marked out 5 and not 10 I cannot give it the 4.5 or 9 I'd like to!
Nice local ales on sale as well.
Would I come again? Yes, without a shadow of a doubt.

Whilst away on a little mid week break we Found this little place mid afternoon after not being able to find a pub that does lunch after 2.30pm! The cafe is small & very quirky with its Austrian themed decor. Staff were lovely & friendly. We just had a couple of toasties which came with a small salad, pot of coleslaw & a few crisps...much more than we expected for the price! Would definitely recommend.

The Visitor Centre, Carnforth Station. A film, Brief Encounter, was filmed here in 1945 and the part of the station used in the film has been refurbished and there is a museum, attracting not only film but train buffs. Visitors flock to the refreshment room where, in the film, most of the action took place.
Visited for lunch. Good menu including a “specials” board. We enjoyed home made soup which was delivered to the table piping hot and of good quantity.
The refreshment room is rustic ,clean , and oozes nostalgia although lived up to typical “British Rail” was a bit chilly having to keep our coats on .
All staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. Would certainly return.

Visited the pub with my family who had visited before. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming - nothing was too much trouble. Service was really good and the food came quickly. The scampi was fabulous - a decent portion.
This is a lovely traditional pub - will call again soon!

Tea Room
A quintessentially English tea room. It's easily missed as you whizz past but keep your eyes peeled and take a break (parking round the back) to sample their afternoon tea. The menu also includes full English breakfast, toasted sandwiches and much more. Attentive friendly service and very reasonably priced. The adjacent shop is very well stocked and there's a great selection of artisan products such as jams, sweets and cakes for sale, many on display around the tea room. You can even pick up a few vintage postcards to send to the folks back home. Highly recommended.

Booked for a family group of 7 plus high chair for an early Saturday evening meal. We were with in laws from China. Food very tasty and satisfied both our English tastes and those of our Chinese guests. Parking at rear ( hard to spot in the dark). Well illuminated sign on main A6 road. ) Service attentive . Happy to go again.

The food here is exceptional. We took our children and never had to worry about a think. Right in the village centre and next door to the Co-Op to take your own beers in. Staff were excellent and the food was exceptional. The lamb saag was the best I've tasted. Quaint place with taste for the fine things.

Have become pretty much a regular here, for good reasons.
The staff are really great, every one of them, efficient, friendly, really helpful.
The beer is always well kept, really good, always a couple of guest ales. Wife tells me the wine is also well kept and quaffable.
The food is always brilliant, my favourite is the beef and venison cobbler, but everything is really good.
Great ambiance, no tv, no Muzak, just good food, good beer and good staff. Absolutely nothing to complain about!!
