Absolutely wonderful dishes from top to bottom. A varied, interesting menu. A couple of fixed-price four course options, or a la carte as preferred. Every dish the party had was delicious. Added to which the service was exceptionally friendly (the owner(?) went out of her way to translate each item on the French-only menu for our English-only selves) and notably un-fussy. The interior of the small dining room is very simply decorated, but with food like this, who cares?

Le Sens Gene has been reviewed many times already and rightly so receives very positive reviews. I have little new to add to those other than to say we had an excellent meal. The concept of cooking/barbecuing your own fun is unique and was excellent for my wife who likes to know her meat is well cooked. At an all inclusive price (including wine or soft drinks) of 25 Euros per person for three course you cannot go wrong. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and talk you through the process. If in Caen give Sens Gene a go - it is a bit different!

I chose this place after Reading tripadvisor reviews-slightly disappointed. We had the Armenian steak has the main course, and although it was ok we felt that it tasted more like an Aldi burger with a bit of seasoning. Staff were good hosts, so maybe im being a bit harsh - go along and give it a go!

Spending a Monday evening in Caen while in transit between Brittany and Germany had us searching for a pleasant spot for dinner in a town we were unfamiliar with on the weekday many French restaurants are closed. Without no reservation, after walking around town looking at menus, we settled on an outdoor table at Le Bistronome and ended up very pleased with our choice. The meal was excellent and the service very friendly and efficient. The Waitstaff happily answered my questions about menu items and helped me make the perfect choice.

Had a wonderful 7 course meal (€64) .It came with two dessert courses which were outstanding.Everything beautifully cooked and presented.Very relaxed atmosphere in a small modern restaurant The two waiting staff were attentive, observant but not intrusive.Wines were listed on an iPad.Several were available by the glass but there was no specific wine matching for the set menus.Really must book in advance and reconfirm 48 hours in advance

We found this tiny place quite by accident, and will rate it as a highlight of our trip to Normandy. Simple and unpretentious, with friendly service and an imaginative menu of crêpes, all made with fresh ingredients. Just the thing if you're looking for a simple and rewarding meal.

Very good casual dining - if you like seafood. The specialty is oysters - all sorts and styles. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was small and clean and tidy. Looked like a family owned business and they were obviously proud of their place - with good reason. Would like to visit there again.

Good location, close to city hall. Contemporary decor, view over the kitchen. Set menus with the best local ingredients at an affordable price. Colorful and tasty plates worth its one star Michelin. The service is nice and efficient. Lunch for about 40 euros per person with a glass of wine and coffee.

I ate there with a friend in the fall. It's a small quirky place with English & French speaking staff.
All the items are either vegan or vegetarian, which is a real treat for vegans like me who often eat salads out. Everything is made on the premises and there's a nice selection of main courses, soups, and desserts. Portions are generous and the cuisine is hearty. You order at the counter and a server brings your food to you.
Prices are reasonable.
We didn't book and should have done. We ended up sharing a table with another person, and that was pleasant. But next time I'll book, to be sure to have a place.

We revisited this restaurant the other day - it's somewhere we've been talking about since last year, as well as trying to find an equivalent in Ile-de-France without success.
The ramen is fantastic, the portions are huge, and the owners are very friendly and welcoming, if you have never experienced noodle soup before, go there and you will definitely see what the fuss is all about!
This is to instant noodles what a black angus sirloin steak is to a 1 euro macdonald's burger, I cannot recommend this place enough... we'll be back again!
