The Corn Islands (Spanish: Las Islas del Maíz) are two islands about 70 kilometres (43 mi) east of the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua, constituting one of 12 municipalities of the South Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region. The official name of the municipality is Corn Island (the English name is officially used in Spanish-speaking Nicaragua).

Went at dinner time and would have loved to experience it at lunchtime to take advantage of the view, but even the atmosphere of waves crashing was great! Menu is classic of many of the restaurants on Big Corn, very seafood focused. Dinner was great though - was not expecting a three course meal (soup, salad, main). The waitress misheard our order so came with fries instead of tostones, but when she realized her mistake she brought us over a plate of them. I've had many over Nicaragua, but the ones here were definitely my favorite! Cooked just right, not too oily, and some other flavor that I couldn't quite pin. Definitely need to try them!

This place is wonderful. Alessandro & Costancia welcome you like you're invited guests, and the setting and atmosphere is beautiful. The food was delicious and obviously prepared with care and love - these people really enjoy what they're doing with their lives and it shows. There are three courses - pasta, seafood and dessert; vegetarians and other dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice. There's a good choice of wine, beer, etc. Stop by the morning you want to go and have a chat with Alessandro about what's on the menu - it is a small place and it's better to book ahead.

We had high expectations for previous good reviews, but unfortunately the expectations were not met. First, nobody appeared to greet us, we had to look for the menu. After a while, finally the lady appeared asking us if we were ready to order. Also, for drinks we had to get up to look for them in the refrigerator. Regarding the food, the fish was tasteless because of a small amount of sauce for the fish. My husband does not eat seafood, but there was no chicken nor meat available. Finally, it was quite expensive for the self-service and the food. Yes we did pay the tip, but we regret it.

We stayed for 2 nights in a room with a ocean view. Definitely worth to spend 10$ more for it. You get not only a nice view, you will have also a Terrace if you step out of your room. The room is large, has 2 beds (one big, one small one) and the furniture is lovely. We stayed for 2 nights and payed 110$. So far so good. Unfortunately you don't have wifi in your room, you have to go next to the office and also there you have to wait a long time to check mails or surf through the internet. The connection is very bad, but that's not so a big point for me. But what I didn't like at all was the restaurant. It's expensive and not good. Ok, the breakfast (gallo pinto and eggs) of my girlfriend had was good, but my burger was the worst I ever had in my life. And the price for it was 8$. The meat was dry like beef jerky and the size of the meat was very, very small. Therefore, the bun was huge. So I ate only a 1/4 of the bun with the meat to have a good taste of all the ingredients. I know I am in Nicaragua. But a burger is very easy to prepare. Especially from a good Hotel I expect they can do that. And for the price of this burger you can get at Dos Milles a whole fresh fish with french fries, rice, salald and chicken soup. And you can order a drink as well a drink of your choice and it will still cost less than a burger at this place. No wonder nobody eats in this restaurant.

Big Fish Cafe menu is varied and serves fresh seafood and caribbean style meals. Full Bar is available with varied local and foreign drinks. It is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner 7 days per week. Prices are reasonable. Big Fish is known to serve the best food on the Island.
They have an extensive fresh fish menu. This restaurant is still a great value compared to the west; but on the island it was the most expensive meal we had. The restaurant is connected to a hotel and is across the street from the sea; but they have a sitting area right on the sea. it was super windy; so we opted to eat inside. It was still very quaint inside. Service is super attentive and very friendly. They also take credit cards. Highly recommend the restaurant.

It is true that Martha's may close early or not open at all but that is their choice. When ever we go, we make sure it is early, for breakfast or supper and have never been disappointed. Their breakfast comes with fresh fruit, fresh juice, toast, and usually 3 choices for the main course along with a pot of coffee. Of course if you're late you might be out of luck! For supper try the lobster in garlic sauce or white sauce, both are wonderful. Neither Martha nor her husband are mean; they are quite delightful and are a wealth of information on a variety of subjects. If you are really lucky you may be served by Mr. Wally Campbell, a true islander who knows Corn Island inside and out! If you don't want to eat, stop by for an ice cold Tona and enjoy the fantastic views!
