We came here with our friends (locals), the food and service were very good in fact mine (venison) was excellent, my wife had the pasta and was also impressed. All in all a very nice restaurant. Reservations are a must to avoid disappointment. Would also recommend catching a taxi as parking is horrendous.

We sat with a group of 18 people outside on a beautiful evening and all had different types of food.
Although the food was excellent it was very much adjusted to the European taste, for most people even too much so and interestingly lacked a spicy taste.
Food came fast, very generous menu card with great choice and very friendly service. Great for vegetarians and moderate quality alcohol free beer. Better ask for the Hefe-Weizen, it taste in the brand they use better than the Pils.
Great place will be back.

The view is gorgeous, the staff friendly, and the food simple but fresh and high quality. One can sample the local wine on tap. Try the kochkäse with fresh Bauernbrot or kochkäse Schnitzel. Self service and crowds but efficient. Always worth the hike!

a fun place and a pub for the locals. Great place to meet and get a local feel for Bensheim. Food is served on large skewers hung over your table for a fun eating adventure. Good tasting food to. Local beers and they brew on-site...MoreHello mikemurray2009, thank you for the review. Hope to see you again, maybe this time at our BBQ-Event Greetings, your Burggraf-Team

The food was overpriced!
And you don't have a lot to choose from.
Then it's a bit confusing, that you have to enter through a different door which you first have to find out if you don't speak german...
But the food was good.
Oh, they always play the same horrible song.

We have been there several times and I have experienced it as good and bad!
Once it really stank in the restaurant, but I guess that was an exception, because it never happened again! I only noticed that you are served more quickly downstairs! The food is good, but I think there are better restaurants where you can eat traditional food. I like the interior and also the menu, but they come too quickly to read it all! Because it also contains informations about the building etc.! They don't have such good choice of food.

We have good friends in Bensheim and have visited this restaurant for the last 20 years or so, every time we are in the area. It is family run and has been consistent throughout in quality and serves authentic greek food with no adaptations such as French fries and does not adapt to German taste. It has only few tables and bookings are needed on weekends. The food is always prepared fresh and side dishes are used within season. Service is friendly and efficient; the owners appear to know most of their customers, a good sign; people return for a reason similar as we do. I wish we had a Greek restaurant of similar quality in our country

I love german food, although I prefer english food!
This restaurant has a nice collection of german specialities.
The surroundings are a bit rustic and if you like modern restaurants you're wrong there!
Althouh they don't really have things for children to do and you can't let children play outside as it's right next to a road, it's worth the experience. But you should have Reservations!

The regular menu is limited to eight items including a schnitzel, pork steak baked with potatoes and tomatoes, cooked cheese, and homemade sausage.
An ever-changing posted menu with about six items reflects the importance of serving in-season dishes (see photo).
All breads, rolls, and cakes are baked on site.
My wife and I visited Café Alte Dortmühle in Bensheim as guests of a newly-discovered German family of my 3rd, 4th, and 5th cousins. We sampled almost everything on the menu. All was excellent. If you do not have the luxury of going in a large group, go back many times until you have a chance to taste it all.
It’s worth the short detour from Heidelberg, Manheim, or Frankfort.

We were here for the first time and we are very happy. The people here are very nice and the foot is perfect. We come here from Russia and when we come again to Germany, we will come here again. We like Weiherhaus and the people's here. Thank you for the nice evening :) we like it very much.
