Had a good meal there at--for local standards--above average prices. On the ground floor there is a bar, the restaurant is upstairs. During my meal there was one other eater, still, the waiter had so much atrention for the other eater--apparently an acquaintance--that I lacked proper service. The food was good though.
The restaurant is in the center of the town.

5 min walk from Pousada de São Francisco Beja
This place was recommended to us by the hotel we were staying at. I would endorse that recommendation.
The place has character, the waiting staff are very good, the two we had spoke English.
We ordered their speciality veal with the April 25th tag. When it arrived it was undercooked but they happily took it back and it was returned to our satisfaction without any problem. The salad with it was a little small but very tasty (we ordered another).
Interestingly, there was no salt or pepper on the table but the main dish was so heavily salted you didn't really need it.
For dessert we had something that featured egg whites and would heartily recommend that, it was delicious.
Overall, a lovely experience and the restaurant deserves its rating.
However, it is extremely popular and it would pay to book in advance. We were lucky and got in but you couldn't help but notice the majority of tables were reserved - and that was just for lunch.

Simple and honest food in big portions. No English menu, not much spoken by the staff either. Simple environment, low prices.

The restaurant Dom Dinis is located along one of the most iconic national monuments : the castle keep of Beja Castle. The geographical location gives you a series of parking solutions in various streets surrounding this area of great historical interest , cultural and artistic of the city of Beja. When you visit us, we have to offer you a Meat Letter selected Black Pork , Beef and Lamb . Our menu features it is the graciousness and refinement of regional Alentejo dishes and the specialties of charcoal grills which complimented by an excellent letter of Alentejo wines tempt the palate of those who enjoy the Alentejo gastronomy. Labeled or not we await your visit in order to prove the quality of our service.
Nice place located near Beja's castle, so it's easy to find. We ordered the traditional dish of the restaurant. Grilled mix for 2. The sweet of the apple mash kills the pork's fat. And it's delicious!

Have had the pleasure to have dinner at Pulo Do Lobo twice, each time a great experience. Ambience is very comfortable making for a great meal. The menu is full or regional dishes (as with most restaurants in Beja) recommend the Pork...excellent. Also their Migas is one of the best. House wine is very good...all in all a great place to Dine. Will return when I visit Beja in September

Highly recommendable. Great food, excellent prices, huge portions. Go for the half portion, unless you're very hungry. Service highly efficient, very friendly staff. Do not go there without making a reservation, because you will always have to wait, unless you show up soon.

What a pleasant surprise to stumble upon this little gem! During a leisurely stroll around the Pousada where we were staying, we found Vovó Joaquina and thought it looked like a welcoming, cozy place for tapas and a meal, so we decided to give it...MoreDear customer, thank you so much for so positive feedback. About the vegetables we can tell you we are preparing a small organic farm to supply our Restaurant, so the next time you come you will taste such wonderful vegetables.

We booked a 'top' wine tour and tasting at 20 euros per person for three wines expecting great things. The man who led our tasting of their top wines was clearly totally uninterested in what he was doing which was more than disappointing.
The wines themselves were of, at best, average quality for something around 6 euro per bottle rather than the much higher charge this estate levies.
The estate is well presented, the girls on reception pleasant but nothing can compensate for the rude, disinterested man who led the tasting or the dubious quality of the wines in the 'top' tasting compared to their unit price in our opinion.
Try somewhere else is our recommendation.

Located in a small village outside Beja, this small, plain looking restaurant excels at one thing. PORK! While Pork is featured at almost every restaurant in Beja, Toi Farois takes it to a new level. Prepared many different ways, it is the most flavorful, tender Pork I have ever eaten (and that says alot)..a must have. Also quite novel and delicious is their tomato salad. Made up of just tomatoes, olive oil, a hint of vinegar, and spice they are combined into an excellent salad. Our party of 8 went through 2 huge bowls! This restaurant may be a bit off the beaten path, it is well worth the trip. I plan on being in Beja again next fall and will definately be stopping by.
