We visited The Red Pump for dinner on July 22, 2017. We have visited The Red Pump many times over the years and we have been impressed always. This occasion was no exception. Our server, Jackie, was outstanding; she created a wonderful dining experience. The food matched the service. Four of us had different appetizers and entries, and all creations were delicious. The menu offers something to please everyone. The wine selection was very good. The meal was topped off with a selection of house-made desserts. Our table selection was the carrot cake which we unanimously recommend. If you're looking for a intimate casual fine dining experience near Bayfield, then The Red Pump is a great choice.

Good honest food. Lots to choose from on the menu including mac and cheese which I tried and it was quite nice. Enough to satisfy me. Pleasant staff and good people watching. Lots of conversations going on here. This was my second meal here and I enjoyed it both times.

The Little Inn of Bayfield will be launching two new culinary destinations, the Willow Room, and the Four In Hand Taproom. Both venues will feature bespoke menu concepts by renowned Chef Michael Potters, featuring locally sourced Huron County produce & proteins. Wine, spirits & cocktails are being realized by John Szabo, Master Sommelier.
When my wife and I visited Bayfield on a fine, sunny Saturday in mid-September we were in the mood for some Lake Huron fish for lunch, either perch or pickerel. We could have had the usual battered variety with fries (“frites” for the cultured types) but once we spotted the menu of the Little Inn we both decided to try the pan-seared variety they offered, specifically pan-seared pickerel.
Note that, at time of writing the pan-seared pickerel does not appear on the Little Inn’s online lunch menu, although it is shown on the dinner menu. Perhaps the Little Inn changes its menu frequently like some other restaurants in Bayfield. (Note also that the lunch menu shown on TA does not match the lunch menu on the Little Inn’s website or the lunch menu we saw. And the dinner menu shown on TA does not match the inn’s web site. You basically won’t know what they serve until you go!)
For this dish the pickerel was served on top of whipped potato carrying a sauce of butter and lemon juice. Green beans and a grilled lemon, the latter presumably the source of the lemon juice in the sauce, lay beside it. A sweet-pea pesto was served on top of the fish. Shaved fennel and assorted leaves garnished the top. It seemed an unnecessarily affected presentation for a lunch but on the other hand it wasn’t cheap; you have to do something special to justify the price.
What can I say? It tasted as good as it looked. Really, I can’t remember eating such a satisfying meal in a long time. And I’m no foodie. (Want proof? I wasn’t even tempted to take a picture of my dish.)
While you can eat lunch inside the building we chose to eat outside at a table on the veranda. With the inn’s location at the less-busy end of Bayfield’s Main Street North where most of the town’s shops, restaurants and inns are located, our lunch experience was very peaceful. The service we received was prompt and friendly. In summary I would definitely eat at the Little Inn again.

Come here for your cool eats (soft ice cream, shakes, sundaes, etc), or hot -- footlongs, hamburgers, fries, fried chicken, o rings, you know the type of food I mean. You order at one window and they give you a number, you go and wait in your car and they call your number. Like back in time, I think. There is an older couple that come all the way from Hamilton just to have their fries. Nice quick place where you can eat in your bathing suits.

I should have known.
Tacos? In Canada? Even the broadest interpretation of tacos - anywhere oon the globe - does not involve soft pita wraps, salsa from a jar and twice, overcooked chicken strips.
Tqco Tuesdays was an offering of four stuffings, served cold, in cold pita wraps with jarred salsa. If you want guacamole or sour cream, it will be an additional charge.
I'm hate writing bad reviews, especially of small town institutions, but these were not tacos, they were not good, and they are not worth the effort.

The cupcakes looked so yummy and pretty. A couple of us got the signature cupcake which is pink lemonade. We really didn't like it. The frosting was very disappointing. Very "fake" tasting if that makes sense. The cake was better. My daughter enjoyed her salted caramel though.

They've done a great job of renovating this place. Lots of selection off the menu, reasonable prices, and great tasting food. It's nice to be able to get gluten-free meals and have a server that is versed about it.
It's clean, busy and back in business. Will definitely be back. Good luck Wayne.

The Ashwood Bourbon Bar boasts a full-range gastropub style menu, including inspiration from classic dishes as well as contemporary themes. With a plethora of bourbon available to compliment any palate, and a complex cocktail program, the Ashwood Bourbon Bar has something for everyone.
This is a cosy, small, simple, restaurant, on Hwy 21 just outside of Bayfield. It is part of a larger inn/resort/vac. rental complex that developed out of a merger of the Bayfield Inn and nearby properties.
We only went there for dinner, we were not staying over.
It has a nice clean decor, modern, crisp but not elegant. They do take Reservations and space is limited so that is a good idea!
The menu featured some very nice "fine dining" menu items which they change frequently, so it is best to check what it looks like - posted ones online may be out of date, and it is a limited menu. The food was very nice, and the service friendly and reasonably fast; but, nothing jumped out as being great and the complex menu items were varied; but, did not include any simpler standard fare items - roast beef, pork chops, chicken - although there was a pasta dish.
The dinner experience overall though, was not really enjoyed. Portions were OK, but not large. Noise levels, because of the bar/rest. combo, resulted in music that was too loud for a dining restaurant (OK for a bar), and patrons who were also louder than expected for a fine dining restaurant; but, not really loud for a bar at all.
I think the conundrum of a bourbon bar that serves "fine dining level food" does not work well, and being where they are, their style and price point for dining, is more boutique downtown big city; but, then I'd expect table linens, and a dining experience, not a bar visit - so it just didn't work for us.
We also found the wine mark-ups quite steep - esp. on locally produced selections.
Trendy - chique - bar, with fancy food fits better than a nice place to take your parents out for dinner.
